10 years ago probably the highest rated QB would be Tanner McKee from Stanford. Now you have to be very mobile, which was actually one of the knocks against Stroud until the GA game. It wasn't that he wasn't mobile, it's that he didn't run much. You have to be a guy that makes stuff happen one way or another. you have to be dynamic and you have to be someone who can not just get their team motivated but the fans charged up as well. pretty much Cam Newton is the template for the modern day QB. You can win with your arm or win with your legs. you just get the job done. this has proven to be what works best in the league now. this is what puts you in a position to win championships.

crap. it's on. jump right in those Lamar sweepstakes.
-
i'm hoping for him and Patrick Peterson.

meeting with Carr is due diligence. and he needs to stay on the table unless they are 100% convinced that they can't get one of the top 4 QBs. #1 goal: Get your franchise QB. there is nothing more important that this, especially for a new coaching regime that doesn't have a franchise QB in place. plan 'A' is always draft one. plan 'B', find a vet that has enough time left that can be considered a starting QB for several years. plan 'C' (or 'S' for Sucks) is just try and get by until next year and hope and pray you've got a better option then.

would not be a bad pickup at all
-
WR and RB should really only be addressed through the draft and neither should be given a second contract. RB because it's just too easy to replace and second contracts aren't really worth it. WR because they are getting just too pricey. every once in a while you can find a bargain, but those will be rare and rarely worth the effort regardless of price.

He's on my list of "yes please!"

I miss the good old days of hiring a sportswriter to be GM and a small school college coach as head coach

I can see us with Hooker, and the game is on the line and we're behind a score and him putting up a valiant fight...and still losing. I can see Levis in those situations making a bold move and then saying "Dammit, Will!" and losing. I can see Young, Stroud, and Richardson in those situations and making something special happen. I want one of those three.
-
I can see that. I just wanted to see more.
-
I wanted to like him. I wanted him to be really good, like top 10-15 pick good just so there's be another option. I just didn't see enough. Him getting hurt really didn't help him, especially considering his age.
-
There is nothing spectacular about him, but spectacular is what is needed. He could be a really good QB later on. There's just too many issues and not enough of the really good stuff to make you think you can build on and around him.
-
I could see a mid-late season start because of injury to another QB. Otherwise we probably wouldn't see much of him til the next season. Which would make him finally starting at 27 years old? Oof....
-
He wouldn't be a day 1 starter. Best chance he has to start is backup to an injured vet. Only way I take him is as a backup to a vet I was planning to use the next couple years.

I'm really curious who all is going to be involved in that. I wonder how many people are usually involved in those interviews. I'd love to see if that data guy, George Li, will be involved in some way.
