  1. Yeah, AR is the long shot here. Levis isn't even in the conversation because there's no way McCown would be ok with it. I mean it's not his team, but they didn't pull him in just to groom a QB, they brought him in to help make the decision. I do feel confident that it will be Young or Stroud, though. Whichever one we take I think we own the NFCS. I feel better about Stroud, but ultimately I think we rule with either. I think we'd eventually rule with AR, but it would take a lot of finessing and engineering to put together a team that wins in Reich's first year and we're going to have to hit the gate winning. We're going to get a QB you can start on day 1 with. That's why we traded for the first pick.
  2. This. It's not a matter of "oh....I don't know...let's flip a coin I'm good with either one!" I mean that's where I am, but this coaching staff has an idea of an offensive identity in mind and I'm sure is going over different strategies for both (and I mean both because it's going to be either Stroud or Young). Whatever QB they look at, interview, work out....they are going to be discussing afterwards a plan that they have for each. It won't be the same offense for each because it will be tailored to their strengths, potentials, and current limitations. Whichever plan they think will be the most successful in the short and long term will be the deciding factor. We don't need to be convoluting the process. We didn't trade up to #1 so that we could play a game with the first couple picks. We traded for #1 because we want to make sure when we turn in our card we are going to be getting our first and favorite pick. That's a luxury we paid for and we can't fug it up
  3. we can pick up a free agent or two this year to give him between targets. It's as if people think that this team.....as it is right now....is the team we're going to be marching on to the field next year. Or, maybe they just don't realize that now "OMG we don't have any targets!!!!" I understand, you're used to this team being run by idiots. That's just not the case anymore. That's not what this coaching staff is comprised of. Just because this is the Panthers doesn't mean every decision they make us doomed. They've turned the corner. We have experienced and successful people running the show now.
  4. I'm leaning towards 1) Stroud, and 2) Young. Honestly a great case could be made for both and I think both excel in the league and will do so for a long time. Young is more exciting, but Stroud is the better passer. I've thought this all along. I think that Stroud is the better long term answer just because I think QBs who rely on their arms more than their legs last longer, but I don't think overall it's a big difference between the two. I think Young is better in front of the camera than Stroud, but that's also not a huge concern. It will be one of those two, though. And I'll be stoked for either one with no buyers remorse.
  5. Again, you are operating under the assumption that he will get who he wants and Reich&Co won't have input or don't have a clue or their opinions are irrelevant. It has to be one of those options. Or, you could leave on at this coaching staff and understand that they were hired to fix the team and Fitt's job is to listen to what THEY want and then make it happen. If this was a team of inexperienced coaches, then Fitt would probably have to balance his experience and knowledge with their lack of it. This isn't the case.
  6. If he was the only brain in the room, as was the case with the past two seasons, then you'd have a legit concern. There are now quite a few more adults in the room, much more knowledgeable than him and who, because they were chosen for the all important job of getting the QB situation fixed, will have a LOT of pull in the decision. And I know they will have a lot of pull because they were picked for their years of combined experience and wisdom. You do not hire that team of coaches and then do whatever you damn well please.... especially when all you've done is fail at picking a QB. You hire these guys and you ask the question, "Who do you want for a QB? Who do you, wise sages, think is the best available QB? Say the name, and I will make it happen." Fitt's talent is making a deal happen after being told by the counill of coaches "this is the guy who will take this franchise to the top, can you get him?" Fitt's response is, "yes, here it is. Here is the path. You go get your QB."
  7. It's not that much, especially since we'll be getting the top QB in the draft according to Frank Reich, Jim Caldwell, Josh McCown, Thomas Brown, etc. I'm sure Evero and Capers will also have some input on the matter as well. I'm sure that this coaching staff and front office wouldn't have made that offer unless they thought there was someone in this draft who was special and could be built around and could make the most of every opportunity and personnel situation he's given.
  8. I fixed the title. Could be true, but no credible sources are saying it. Someone goofed and got it wrong is more likely.
  9. You can never guarantee the success of any QB, which is why you should always chase after average Joe's and hasbeens and guys who have been in the league for years but never did much except as a backup.... because you can always stumble on a Tom Brady guy you draft late or a Geno guy who does nothing for a decade then you find him sitting in your bench and turns out to be good. You find guys like that every year. They grow in trees. But even if you can't get one, QB is no big deal. It's just another player on the team. Anyways if you get your defense right you don't have to worry about scoring. Just in case you are wondering, that was sarcasm.
  10. Have you not been paying attention to who makes up this coaching staff? These are guys who knows offense and knows QBs. If there's a coaching staff that you should trust with deciding on a QB, it's this one. Frank fuggin Reich Jim Caldwell Josh McCown Just these guys alone should be enough to warrant confidence in this team's ability to choose a good QB. It is for me anyway.
  11. That's not enough reason to not swing this year. Fug this timid crap. If you're confident, you go for it.
  12. If it was Rhule or Rivera or Fox &co....I'd be worried. With this crew we've got, if they are this sold on someone, I'm sold. If they are confident enough to make a move like that, then I'm excited. They know the risk and the cost better than anyone in here, but they (collectively) also know the job and the position better than most in the league.
  13. i have been thinking for a good while that AZ seems like the most likely and ideal trade partner. c'mon WIlson.... work your connections!
  14. easy? no. i doubt many think it is. expensive? it will definitely be that. necessary? it is definitely that we're going to make a serious attempt to trade up. there is very little chance that we sit back at 9 and wait for anyone unless some other team is mortgaging several years worth of draft capital. i'm sure that Fitt doesn't just have the green light to be aggressive in getting a top 4 pick, but he's probably been directed by Tepper to get it. this team isn't going to mess around. some in here may not like it, but they are going to have to get used to the idea that this team is going to do everything it can to ensure they get one of those top guys. the only real option outside of those 4 is Lamar and i don't see that as all that desirable for the team compared to getting one of these top guys in the draft.
  15. if he is available and 9 and we are still there then yes, we take him. absolutely. but... 1) he won't be there still 2) we won't still be at 9. if we're serious about getting a QB then we will be trading up. there won't be one at 9. and settling for any of the QBs past the top 4 is not a sign of a team serious about upgrading at QB.
  16. Dammit Juan. Is it too hard to actually post the damn tweet?
  17. Its getting harder and harder to find someone who is all in on Levis. I don't think people believe he can overcome his shortcomings anymore than Young can overcome being short. And I'd take Young's issue over Levis' issues 10 times out of 10.
