  1. except he didn't even get the benefit of seeing the field...of course Jimmy might have been better off if no one ever saw him start that year either. but yeah...Corral doesn't really stand a chance here. he's an afterthought. he needs to go somewhere else and have a fresh start (not that he ever got a start here at all). i feel bad for the guy. not a chance to prove himself.
  2. yeah, i think he tried and gave it everything he could, but it was a horrible situation. first, it was incredibly humbling when you have everyone, even the top draftniks telling you that you will be a top 5 pick and then you drop down into the 2nd round. Then you land with a team who has a HC that had simply given up and that was after not being motivated for several years (Fox, post-superbowl run, was lame). The team follows the lead of the HC so except for a few players, this team was just without any identity or spine. but then his happy feet took over and he had no one to develop or work with him. he was drafted and thrown into a situation that was doomed from the start. and then the next year they draft fuggin Cam Newton! Jimmy never really had a chance. i think he still would have been bad, but not as bad as he shaped out to be.
  3. i think as a teammate the draft process humbled him, because he sure came into the draft a cocky little turd. he ended up being a good solid teammate. he sucked as a QB, but as a teammate he was what you want....in a support role. he was never a leader.
  4. two phrases i hate... 1) Its always been done like this 2) this is the way it's always happened that's just weak sauce. never accept it.
  5. no it doesn't. you make your own path. every day is new....act like it dammit. repeating history is only for the weak.
  6. Stroud is the safest bet of this class because of his style of play and his approach to the game. Like I've said many times, I'd be thrilled as can be to have either him or Young and maybe even AR, because I think all 3 could be special if put in the correct situation (and I think ours is the best one any of them could hope for). But AR and Young are more of a gamble than Stroud.
  7. This doesn't surprise me. And it's only going to get worse because he'll think this is how he makes his case to be a top pick. He'll see it as confidence, but everyone else will see it as Ryan leaf.
  8. History does not dictate or influence the future.
  9. they didn't really surround him with good experienced coaches up until Turner.
  10. who was Cam's QB coach for the first two years and how many years experience as a QB coach did Dorsey have before becoming Cam's?
  11. i've seen him do that a few times. mostly he does grip the laces, but i noticed that a little at the combine.
  12. the bigger problem is he had sucky coaches. they didn't do anything.
  13. you know some don't care what they get as long as they hit, catch, throw, run, whatever.
  14. until he proves he can't, i'm going to assume that he will just as much as any other player. because no one has been able to show a correlation between smaller players and injury frequency or magnitude.
  15. i think you are probably right on the source of the info, but i'm not totally seeing what you are on Bryce. i think he'll be really stinking good.
  16. where are they hearing this? i think at this point it's all assumptions and opinions for any of them.
  17. i think that Young and Stroud are both good to go as a starter on day 1, or at least it seems they would be. AR...i think it depends on how he was used. Might be best to have him in situationally and eventually in the first season. he gets compared to Cam a lot, but Cam was ready to go day 1 for sure. that's just not AR. not yet. i think the intelligence is there for sure. it's just the playing experience he's lacking.
  18. you know our only HoF player was "too short to play LB." and probably the best non-QB player we ever had was supposedly too short to play WR at a high level.
  19. It doesn't sound like they are interested in drafting someone they can't start right away. They are priming this team to win now. If they draft him, the goal will be to start him day 1. Dalton is there in case he's not ready, but I think they won't be wanting to let him sit a year. They'd come up with an offense built around what he can and can't do right now and develop him as they go, adding things to the offense as he progresses.
  20. i think he'll be moderately hyped just because it's the 49ers. he won't be a pro-bowler, though. he'll still be a pretty clunky QB and he's going to find himself eventually backup to Purdy.
  21. i think they are definitely leaning one way, as in i think that Reich and the coaching staff are pretty much leaning a certain way and Fitt and the scout staff are also leaning a certain way, and the Teppers are also leaning a certain way, but they may not be sharing their thoughts with the others. i do feel like after the combine, though, they all had an idea that they wanted someone and the consensus was that whoever it was, the best way to make sure they got their guy was by making this big trade. it wasn't the only way, but it was the only sure way to get him...whoever it is. i really don't think any will be surprised when they get together and discuss it the week before the draft (if that's really what's going on) about who the other groups are backing. i really feel like they saw something together at the combine, though, that said "this is the guy we want to build the franchise around".
  22. i think a lot of people in here, obviously, think they know who we're getting, but they don't really know. because i think the team doesn't 100% know yet. it's all speculation. of course that won't stop them from coming in here and crowing if they just happen to be right and i guarantee that they will hang on to it for years..."you should listen to me because i was "right" that one time." except getting it right means guessing correctly. it always does in the NFL.
  23. it's the right decision if so. i won't call him that. i have a couple times in the past i think, but i felt uncomfortable doing it.
  24. where is the line between too small and just big enough?
