it will be both. they have an idea what they want to run already. They aren't going to wait until all the pieces are in place before they figure it out. They'll pick someone who fits better with the vision they have for the offense and then assess what specifically the new QB brings along with the other pieces of the offense and then decide what specifically to do. But they aren't going to go into the draft with a blank board on offensive scheme. they know what they want to do and who best fits that idea will play a big role in what they want to do. But i'm thinking that they already have an idea of a player/scheme fit.

that just seems like a natural fit of jersey and player.

i'm leaning this way myself. Young will be phenomenal, but from what i've seen about Reich and what he wants to do, Young seems like the better fit. And i don't put much stock into the size/height narrative. I just think that Stroud is the better fit for what Reich will be doing...at least that's my opinion. i know a couple of the Young homers might have an issue with someone having a different opinion about him.

i'm expecting one of Stroud/Young/AR to the pick and i'm so excited to hear any of these guys. AR is my third favorite among them, but i would not hate it at all for him to be the pick. if this coaching staff is sure that they can make him reach his potential, then giddyup. he could easily go bad, but i trust this staff to make the right call and do what it takes to make it the right call.

that original thread talking about the S2 did say that there were several in this class that scored really well on it and that they were way ahead of last year's class. Seeing what i did Mooch and AR on the whiteboard and AR's ability to recollect things and other things that i've heard about AR in his interviews, it would be easy to believe that AR would be one of the high scorers.

The correct answer is no one is really under any knowledge and of real pressure from anyone outside of a few outsiders opinions, which doesn't matter. It's a clean slate for everyone.

That's true. But I think he was a lot further along in his development and ability than AR. People made a big deal about him only having one year starting experience in the NCAA, but I think that one year at Blinn also helped him a lot and he went undefeated there and at Auburn setting records. And he's pretty much the reason both programs went undefeated. Cam had more at the table in college and the pros than AR, but Cam was also 2 years older than AR is going into the draft. AR is green, but he's also incredibly young too. The video of him with Mooch in the QB room where he has to recollect a play exactly after a little conversation impressed the hell out of me. The guy has it clicking in his head and I think I that regard I think he's more prepared for the pros than Cam was.

Young could be a combination of Wilson in his "how the hell did he do that?!?!?!" miracle moments when you think he's done for and Brees in his ability to diagnose, exploit, and carve up defenses. But he'd be in the run a lot. But Stroud could also be a Brees type player only a more mobile one that defenses have to watch because he could also take off running. The fact that Stroud runs so much less makes him more of a threat because it would be more unpredictable and more likely to catch defenses off guard.

Agreed. And the fierce debate between camps, especially Young and Stroud....I think it's just funny but completely unnecessary. It's such an easy time to make a choice. I seem to be leaning more frequently towards Stroud, but I'll be stoked if its any of those top three. We win quicker if it's Stroud or Young, but AR is going to be an absolute stud in the right situation.

Yep. The whole idea that history is an accurate predictor of the future just has so many holes in it. Sure, you can always find instances that will back that claim up, but there are always many more that could debunk it It's lazy thinking.

As much in the middle as I would like to say and think I am, I keep gravitating ever so slightly towards Stroud. He won't have me in the edge of my seat like Young or AR, but that's not a bad thing at all. Might be better for my old ticker to not have a QB live up to the Cardiac Cat reputation like Young and AR would be doing in the regular. Stroud will be that even keeled player with the consistently good performances. He won't have as many highlight reels, but he doesn't need to have them. He'll just win.

The south is so weak right now we could win it with Andy Dalton. Not that he's a better QB than Carr, but the situation is much better here than there. I go back and forth between the top 2-3 QBs as to who I think we should draft, but I'll stick with Stroud being the safest bet to be a continual winner and owning the NFCS. In my head, I think he's the better pick.

Until recently there had never been a QB even worth talking about from Texas Tech or Wyoming. History had decided that we would never see that.

My reaction if we draft these guys: Young: Damn, he's going to be fun to watch. AR: Damn, he's going to be incredible in a couple years Stroud: Damn, we're going to start winning Levis: Dammit.

Exactly. It's a different unique beast every year. Same with NFL seasons. It's impossible to look at supposed overarching themes and expect to know what is going to happen. Things happen every damn year that has never happened before.

His scrambling could buy him a lot of time, but those legs are going to get tired at some point. He's going to have to learn to get settled and find his lanes in the pocket. I think this is the biggest issue with his height. I've said before, I'm not anymore worried about him getting hurt than I am any other player. The issue with his height is that part of the reason he's always moving is out of necessity in trying to scan the field. He's adapted, but he also has it easier in college than he will in the pros. He'll have DCs planning and scheming for him and he'll have hyper intelligent defensive players playing joker type roles watching him and will be able to take advantage of his tendencies (which everyone has).
