  1. i bet they hire a ninja to take his place.
  2. there was some talk last year about hi being "aloof" and not a strong leader, but i think that most of that was squashed soon thereafter.
  3. As I'm watching more of him, I'm realizing that a lot of the reason he's got so much time to throw is because he's creating it. His situational awareness (defenders in the backfield, his receivers, and the defensive secondary) , his mobility and body control, and his ability to concentrate and process quickly...I think that's something that will buy him time and keep him upright.
  4. I know and I know we all have concerns, but I've just started mentally preparing myself and started to accept that Young will be the pick. I still lean slightly towards Stroud as my favorite fit for what it seems we'll be doing, but I'm moving towards accepting Young as the pick.
  5. I think most people pulling for Young would be ok with Stroud too. There's not really an anti-Stroud crowd. There is, though, a pretty strong and vocal anti-Young crowd. This is the one that I worry just a little bit for. To this crowd, I'll only say this. Be ready for Young to be the pick. Seriously, brace yourself. Line up a counselor. Do whatever you need, because it's incredibly likely that Young will be our franchise QB. All that said .....
  6. sorry about forcing you to stay in the forum.
  7. there were a few in the gabbert and locker camps. yo gabba had the most support between the two of them, though. i know many draftniks thought that this was largely a cam vs. gabbert draft and many in that debate were pro-gabba. no one was doing the stuff that we thought Cam would be doing. we'd never seen a QB like him tbh. a QB either passed a lot or ran a lot and they typically only ran if they couldn't throw very well...at least that was the narrative most ran with. we saw Cam throw and run in college, but few thought that it would transfer to the pros the way it did. but there were others who wanted Marcel Dareus, too. i think he had the most clamoring of any non-Qb player that year.
  8. the only time they ever showed up was when he had a bad game. if he had a big game you never heard a peep from them so they weren't around much for the first few years.
  9. i don't think we're done in FA. holes/thin spots will be filled after the draft.
  10. i think the texans probably have it narrowed down to 1 QB they will do anything for and if they can't get him, they'll go another direction. texans have a defensive minded coach so it shouldn't be a surprise that fixing the offense won't be as crucial in his mind as it would offensive coaches.
  11. those who are worried about his durability are always going to be worried about it. he could be playing for 7 years before he misses time and you'll hear them all say, "you see, i was right! i'm always right. you all should have listened to me!"
  12. challenge a draft spot with another team by playing poker. you win, you swap picks. you lose and you give up pick(s) next year.
  13. Oh it's fine. This does keep us busy. It's interesting and it's good to be the topic of discussion for a while. It's exciting and no one knows for sure but people keep hearing it thinking they are hearing things which adds to the intriguie. You know it might be best for people that are bothered by all this discussion to just avoid the huddle until the draft. It sure as hell won't be getting any better.
  14. Same here. I'd try my hardest to get on board but it wouldn't be easy. With Young or Stroud, I'm all "giddyup!" With Richardson, I'd buy in but I'd have my fingers crossed and be a bit nervous. With Levis....
  15. You either scheme it in our you don't. You tailor your offense to fit your players after you've gotten players who fit your identity. If your identity doesn't depend on playing from under center, it's not a big deal to you. If you like plays from under center but like the player more, you fit what you do to the player.
  16. It's a concern, but only if you are dead set on running a lot of plays from under center. Here's the thing, though, you don't have to run plays from center....ever. the league has been running less and less plays from under center over the past 15-20 years. Good OCs can arrange it so you can have a lethal offense and never run it from center. It's nothing more than a preference. It's not a necessity.
