  1. i think it was kind of obvious that the jets weren't in evaluation mode to the degree that we were. they schemed. we didn't. we had no need to. this is one of the things i hate about preseason games. it's rare that both teams have the same objective. one of the many things that made belichick such a punk was that preseason games were treated the same way as regular season games, which isn't fair to the team who is just wanting to do some evaluating. it was dangerous and they came after cam big time. repeating myself, we were shut out and blown out because the jets were in it to win and make up for a loss in the HoF game and for looking bad in the joint practices. jets also had to make it look good for hard knocks. we should have been better, for sure, but let's not pretend that the jets weren't much more motivated to look better than we were to look good against the other team.
  2. it just wasn't a level playing field. neither team was playing for the same thing. that kind of makes the game a bit dangerous. it's easy to be blindsided when you're focusing on something else than the other team.
  3. the problem is that this isn't something you should have to deal with in your first preseason game. every team has an agenda for each preseason game that may or may not include scheming. i really think the only reason the jets went hard was for team morale. we were just trying to get our guys out there and used to seeing a little action. i'm not going to give the jets props for anything that they did on saturday because they were going after a team that wasn't in it to win it. panthers were in it for the reps.
  4. jets looked bad in the joint practice. they "lost" the HoF game against the browns. they must have thought they needed a "win" in preseason so they schemed.
  5. We will have a winning record this year. The OL we saw in preseason hame 1 won't be what we see the rest of the year. They will be better. Last year was their floor. Saturday was a fluke. This is not a repeat of 2011. More likely to be a repeat of 2013. We don't have a rookie HC who will take a couple years to figure stuff out and we have a rookie QB that doesn't act iike or think like or play like a rookie. And the division is legit up for grabs and the conference has few legit contenders. We have just as much a shot as anyone else at winning the division and getting into the playoffs.
  6. I've gotten to a place where I choose friends and family over any sports or just about anything. Not sure if that makes me a great fan or not, but I'm ok with that.
  7. I probably will only watch it when Bryce is in. Ive got birthday stuff going on with my girls so it's hard for me to justify more than that.
  8. Got friends coming over anyways for hamburgers and hotdogs. Of course that's not going to be till 5:30 that they come over so probably a tomato sandwich before.
  9. But a lot of people do look at that and put a lot of stock in it. I just want to know why they think it actually matters.
  10. The problem i have is, what is the point of preseason? What is the number 1 goal? Is it winning or evaluating? In regular season there is no doubting the goal and it's the exact same for every team. Thet want to win. Every team has that goal in mind and because of that, everytbing that is done 8n preparation for that game and every play and play call has that one goal in mind, so it's a true competition. With preseason it's all about evaluation and every team is looking to evaluate different facets in different ways than the other team on the field. Because they don't have the same goal and you don't typically have the best players in your team on the field, the score at the end just doesn't have anywhere close to the same impact it would in regular season. The score at the end just doesn't tell the same story a regular season game does.
  11. But why/how would it matter? I honestly can't think of anything more irrelevant than a win or a loss in preseason except maybe a pro bowl game. Why/how does a preseason record carry weight into the regular season?
  12. I only want to see one thing (aside from everyone coming out healthy).... Gelling. Cohesion. I want to see some semblance of every aspect of this team all being on the same page. OL, QB/receivers, QB/OL, front 7, secondary, defense as a whole, special teams. I don't care if mistakes are made as long as I see each unit fitting together or at least trending that way.
  13. Just curious what everyone's thoughts are in this. I just tried watching something on YouTube a little while ago where the argument was over whether tomorrow is a "must win" for the jets after losing in the HoF game. Does it matter? Why or why not?
  14. How is this not the OL he's going to have in regular season? Did they start 2nd stringers?
  15. Houston was probably the worst situation for a QB to be drafted in. Horrible team, poor OL, not much in the way of weapons, defensive HC and a nobody OC.
  16. Probably this. If it was up to just the Jets they probably would have cancelled as well, but HBO says it would make good tv
  17. what was seen in Alabama will be seen here. I've got no doubts.
