  1. Well his short term record is fairly accurate. Maybe we are all reading into the hype. Mac Jones could be like a Tom Brady or Eli Manning. Trey Lance hasn't shown enough over time. Everybody can have a great year (Mac Jones too). Maybe we can drop down and still get a good QB?
  2. We won't sign him. Wrong side of 30 and coming off a down year. Unless he'll except about 2 mil or less it ain't happening. The Panthers have clearly stated they want to get younger and faster.
  3. I would love it if LT Sewell fell to #8. Extend Moton and we are set for 4+ years at tackle.
  4. IDK, If we can slide back to 13/14th (Pats will take him at 15) and grab an extra pick (say a 2nd round) and then get Mac I wouldn't be upset. Not straight up at 8. The new GM doesn't look like his model is to draft 1st round QBs so I'm not sure they take a chance on Lance.
  5. I wouldn't give up any of those 3 guys. That's the future. I think we can't afford Watson unless Watson plays hardball with the Texans and forces their hand closer to the draft or season. Draft a QB and sit him for a year and build around him for the future. If not, just keep building a young roster and building cap space when you can get the right QB. We are not winning the SB in the next 2 years any way.
  6. It was just a thought as it seems so many QBs are "not secure" with their teams. more than another year I can remember.
  7. With our new GM and his connection, do you think this is possible? Wilson didn't start having "public issues" until he signed with us. He's worth a 1st and another round pick. Much more affordable compared to Watson. (Yes, Watson is better and younger but more expensive).
  8. Teddy was also brought in because of the uncertainty with Cam and his health. Covid prevented us from seeing Cam up close when they needed to know if he was healthy. If they did, I have a feeling that might have rolled with him for last year without an extension. Teddy was a good risk. Last year, he didn't have a O-line and CMC but more then that, Teddy hasn't played a full season in years. With no training camp to really get in football shape, I think he wore out towards the end. If he's our QB next year (draft pick or not), I can see a better Teddy with a better O-line and a healthy CMC and a better defense to get off the field on 3rd down.
  9. Watson had a great year last year... but the team didn't. if we give away the farm to get him and have to pay him a lot, it will be the same as in Houston. Not enough talent around him and that's a 4-12 team. I would love to have Watson but not at the price it will cost to get him. We need a team around any QB we have before thinking SB. Even Mahomes struggled in the SB with no real O-line (I know it was injuries but the point is the same).
  10. What if KK restructured and took a big pay cut knowing he may not get a decent new deal from someone else? He's a great guy (locker room and community presence) and 2018 was not his fault (Washington was the DC). He's got some thread left as he's rested the last 2 years.
  11. Not every released vet is going to get a nice paycheck. With a lower cap, some will be left with their hands out and will take lower (kind of like Clowney last year, couldn't get what he wanted). I really believe they will get several starters in FA and then let the draft fall. I would get a Mariota f(lower cap) or developing a draft pick or in case we can't get one. I like Teddy but how could he play where he wasn't wanted? If we can get a 4th round pick (or nay pick) just for them to take his salary that would be great). I was really hoping Teddy was gonna work out. But let's face it. The Bucs are the team to beat for at least 2021, and GB, Buffalo along with KC are all near or at the top of their game. Let's just look to build for 2022 and beyond. Get young and strong, build depth and a complete roster that by the draft and FA of 2022, their's only a few holes to fill, not as much as we have now. In 2020 I just wanted to see a spark. In 2021 I want to see progress, win some tough ones, a nice come back or two. By 2022 I would love to see a powerhouse mentioned along with KC, GB, etc. Just being realistic.
  12. What happens if team don't blow away Houston with an offer? It will be toxic if he stays there. They might be forced to take less just to move on. And the longer or closer to the draft it gets and no deal is better for any team wanting him.
  13. If we can get him and not give up our 1st, we should to it. Then either QB or another top player (CB or LB) and then a OL in the 3rd and we'd be sitting nicely.
  14. Sewell won't make it to 8. Would love it and would jump on him picking him too.
  15. Sounds like we all agree. You need a good O-line to compete, Elite QB or not. yes, we want a franchise QB but until we build that O-line, it doesn't matter was my point. I also think that defense made a difference too. 2 great LBs and JPP being like a Burns. They cover the run and pass so well.
  16. Mahomes magic could not get it done. He was running for his life. Brady didn't play lights out. He had a good line and game plan. But the Bucs LB's were killer and they put pressure on QBs and knew how to cover a great TE's. Having Mahomes and all that weapons did nothing for them. All the talk of having a franchise QB doesn't mean a lot when you don't have a team around him. Look at both teams for confirmation. All the talk of how bad we need a franchised QB is not the end all - be all answer. We need Moton back and a solid LT ASAP (draft or FA). Maybe when the cap lower next season, someone will be available that we didn't expect.
  17. Just what happens he knows Seattle is going to go into rebuild mode. Moving Wilson would save money and bring a lot of draft picks. With the cap going down, why not if those factors are true?
  18. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/02/07/report-seattle-has-received-calls-about-a-possible-russell-wilson-trade/
  19. No it's not. Brees helped the Saints fix their problem. He wasn't getting the "salary" anyway, just like Luke didn't. They let him keep his bonuses. It cuts the cap, not kicked it down the road. Why don't more players do that for their teams when they retire? Just the base salaries as the bonuses are locked in.
  20. why couldn't we have done that with Luke in his base salary?
  21. I think this is a good angle. Answering questions smoothly and quickly shows how you can process things quickly. It's a small sample but never less a sample.
  22. I really see NE Pats taking him at 15. We should not take him at 8. If he fell to the 2nd round, I would take a chance on him.
  23. Potentially a good signing. Even if he makes the team as the 3rd TE. Not like we have all pros lining up at TE.
  24. The only part that's realistic is that it drops the Texans cap way down. And we still have Teddy and his salary to deal with. Very lopsided and only will work if the Jets and Dolphins are not interested in Watson. Even Atl can't do that and the Lions and Bengals won't.
