  1. We know …..”tongue in cheek” but we can assume this was in 49ers calculus
  2. The price with the picks is too high, without the picks the QB deals in relation to the cap are crippling. the play now is to hit on a rookie and his 5year cheap contract and spend your cap on position players, then if you have to pay at the end it’s time to hit on the picks at positions you are losing key players to free agency because you can no longer afford given cap space
  3. If our coaching staff thinks they can turn him into Cam Jackson why not stay at 9 or trade back if he’s falling, strengthen the team elsewhere and roll with Darnold or another mid level QB to bridge the gap instead of trading future valuable draft capital away
  4. Giving up 2 first AND paying huge $ against the cap seems like not the best move in current NFL draft/cap dynamics.
  5. If 4 QBs go in the top 8 then this was a very strong QB class…odds are by draft day the top position players will rise and some of these QBs fall
  6. Eventually the players will be replaced by AI Robots like the rest of us. No more pain then
  7. Running QBs are great in the short run but if you are going after one to be here 15 years you need the traditional skills as main requirement, the prospect who can beat teams from the pocket without the running threat. The runners are more likely to get hurt and tires wear off earlier in career typically
  8. The free agents only have to be as good as the likely rookie and 2nd years of whatever position we would draft in first round next 2 years…guys like Hassan Reddick for example. then before you know it we have a draft capital back, the QB who is hopefully franchise is nearing his pay day and you start hitting your first and second rounders again a at those positions. it’s all a risk, key though is you have to find a franchise QB in this league with modern rules so this is the logical path IF the coaches have a guy they feel worth the gamble on…..….…..now do the same math but instead we sign say Carr to $30m/year and draft rookies at other positions and hope they do well which is alternative. Carr isn’t franchise level though and nothing more than an attempt to make playoffs now but not win a superbowl
  9. If the QB is franchise you do it and it’s not as bad as it seems because the QB is on rookie deal and instead of those draft picks you sign top tier free agents at positions of need with the savings
  10. Pretty obvious we are taking a first round QB and the coaches hired have a 2-3 year window to mold him behind a good and young OL.
  11. Hail Mary downs 1-3, go for it on every 4th down. Analytics
  12. I’d rather give Reich/mckown a shot at repairing Darnold who is only 25 before wasting too much draft capital on Fields
  13. Just keep Darnold for that and hedge that he could break out under right coaching like Geno
  14. You do this to draft one and have them on rookie deal and use the cap savings to sign veterans at other key positions to compliment. trading away draft capital for a QB that also has a huge cap hit is dumb
  15. Insert Crowder meme: “NFL is rigged, prove me wrong”
  16. Eagles defense will eat alive the Bengals OL if they make it
  17. Why didn’t we keep Reddick and trade Burns for 2 first ?
