BREAKING: Panthers signing Rashad Penny

Blackshear is our kick-returner so we aren't going to get rid of him. Barring injury or moving on from Sanders, Penny is the odd-man out. -
BREAKING: Panthers signing Rashad Penny

You're right, but hang onto him for now. We won't get any relief by letting him go. Here me out. There's always that team that gets hit by the RB injury bug every year (Ravens come to mind in recent years). Flip him when a team gets desperate with RB injuries. -
BREAKING: Panthers signing Rashad Penny

Don't cut Sanders. We'll actually take a cap hit by doing so. We should try to trade him for picks or a player. -
Yes, they overpaid for Burns (Draft picks + Contract), but they are still getting a good player. Time will tell if it was worth it.
-
Why not? I'd take him as a WR3. He is solid enough for that. He's just not a #1 or even a #2.

Anyone from the Charlotte area knows that parts of SC (along the border) are suburbs of Charlotte. Rock Hill is part of the Charlotte area. This is a homecoming.
-
If we can land Gilmore than I think our starting lineup looks pretty solid across the board. Depth is still an issue, but we can beef that up using the draft and late free agency pick ups.

Tomlin on Diontae as a Panther gives me some anxiety
Dingo_ate_Babies replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
We're not tied to him after this season. If he works out, then great, give him an extension. If not, he's a free agent anyway. Risk is low. -
atleast it ain't the Saints.

Grab Williams, draft best available pass catching TE and best available defender with our 2nd rounders.

Raiders to Release Hunter Renfrow
Dingo_ate_Babies replied to Prowler2k18's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't think we need him at this point unless he comes cheap. With Diontae and drafting a WR with a 2nd pick, should be enough for this year. The main thing really need is a pass catching TE. -
REPORT: Panthers in the running for Patrick Queen
Dingo_ate_Babies replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Grab Queen, and OLB, and a corner and we are in business! -
It looks like the plan this year is spend big on offense and go cheap on defense. Evero worked his magic last year with an injury-plagued defense and made it work with a bunch of nobodies. We can sign a bunch of cheap system guys and still run a decent defense.

Mike Kaye: Panthers going after starting C
Dingo_ate_Babies replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
he probably gets cut if we find a new center. -
Not sure what value this brings us by outright cutting him. Should of at least made him a post-June cut designation to free up some cap room.
-
Good. Let's not overpay for another aging vet. I'd rather go after Calvin Ridley who would be much cheaper.

In a deep qb class should the panther take one day 3?
Dingo_ate_Babies replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would take a QB in the 7th round every year. The bust rate is so high on QBs and 7th rounders are basically throw-away picks. Why not gamble taking one every year? You will luck out and find a Purdy or Brady at some point. -
The worst is when you have an aging and underperforming roster full of expensive vets and there is no cap relief in sight. The Saints are a team that come to mind. We've been there before, but we're not there now. The flexibility is there to bring in some new blood. Last season, we spent our money on a bunch of aging vets who didn't perform (outside of Thielen). Don't make that mistake again.
-
They are going to have to get creative and restructure a number of veterans and create voidable years far down the road. It's the only way at this point if we want to compete anytime soon. Yes, we will have a lot of dead money, but the good news is we have a ton a cap space beyond this year to do it. We can also extend a few guys in order to give us more wiggle room this year. The other option is to do nothing and eat another year of not competing and focus on the 2025 season.
-
It was a 1-year $5 million deal. He wasn't worth that. I wouldn't give him more than $3 million.
-
Yep. He's worth keeping around on a cheap 1-year prove it deal and being our WR3.

Harbaugh was the only slam dunk choice. Most of other choices are unknowns or an underwhelming defensive coach.
