  1. @Verge any foundations to this guess? or just completely out of thin air?
  2. Ripped of our defense to shreds, but damn keeping our offense intact, and getting money from Darnold in the deal lets us go after an OL. Pros: Keep our future seconds get a 4th this year Open up salary to be active in FA still Cons: We lose two young defensive athletes and 3 years of first round picks
  3. all that is a problem for a franchise with no money for 2022 and 2023... We can't say all that like that isnt a problem for a franchise. Saints are on a downward slope. and I am sure we can both agree not having Payton is only going to pile on.
  4. They only won 1 game with Trevor Siemian... They won 4 with Jameis and 4 with Taysom
  5. what offensive weapons? Kamara has yet receive his punishmnet from the NFL for nearly killing a man at the night club super bowl week. Michael Thomas is an absolute nutcase who can't stay healthy. I cant even think of their next best offensive weapon, Andreas Peat maybe? Taysum Hill?
  6. I already posted an article from the Saints fansided on what they would need to do. It invovled them moving on from key pieces of talent on their roster.
  7. Here is my concern about the Saints geting involved, this is what the Dolphins offered midpoint of the year: According to Glazer, the Fins were willing to offer up three first-round picks and two second-round selections to Houston for Watson. All of this was contingent on Watson settling the aforementioned cases, which never happened. If thats what it took, and we are offering players now... does that mean Texans are still open to just draft picks?
  8. If he says no to us, then yeah no deal. However, if he goes to Caserio and says "I like NO first, and CAR second" then he would most likley end up a Panther.
  9. The saints would have to trade away players from that defense to make the deal happen, also they would need to cut roby and jenkins. They have to replace 2 olineman starts from last year, and MT will not be in the deal to the Texans, bc the Texans dont want that expensive headache. I dont think Watson would be coming to last year's saints team. He would be joining a gutted Saints team, with zero space next year as of this moment.
  10. id really love to hear the behind the scenes conversations that are happening during all of this. Like Cal, Bob, and Janice have to have met with Tepper many times over the year. Although Caserio is leading this deal, and working with many FOs... the directive will come from the top.
  11. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/26/sports/deshaun-watson-texans-dolphins.html
  12. Both teams are expected to meet with Watson, who wants to talk with interested teams before making a decision. Watson needs to waive his no-trade clause in order for the Texans to move him. New Orleans is hard to take seriously as a landing spot given their cap situation, but the Panthers have been connected to Watson for over a year. The Seahawks and Bucs are also still in the mix.
  13. i dont even know how to respond to this, bc it feels like you are agreeing...
  14. more reason to believe that the Saints are getting involved ot drive our offer up, with little intention to land Watson. It's a Benson family special.
  15. Interesting point.... Tepper and Rhule sounds like a good salesman duo
  16. Watson said he wanted to leave Houston because Mr.Mcnair is racist, and that he doesnt respect him. So anywhere else is better for Watson, bc it sounds personal. So yes, Carolina would be better for that reason alone.
  17. https://saintswire.usatoday.com/2022/03/12/saints-salary-cap-update-marshon-lattimore-contract-restructure/ And all of those options need to be considered because the Saints will take a $12.9 million hit in dead money should Terron Armstead leave in free agency. Finding a way to re-sign Armstead would undo that, sure, but it feels like a long shot. If he takes a big-money deal from another team the Saints will need to do more than reach cap compliance. They need to keep digging and open up more room to re-sign their own players while adding a couple of free agents.
  18. bc their salary cap moves would castrate their roster. To create 41million in cap space (what they would need to do to land watson) would involve cutting a few key players (Davenport, Roby, and letting Armstead walk) and then they would have to trade onyemata and michalethomas/demario davis to make it worthwhile for the Texans. Along wtih multiple early round picks.
  19. @USDepartmentOfSavagery and @ForJimmy what players do you see the Saints trading in the deal that would still allow saints to have "one of the best rosters in all of football" They also lost their head coach this offseason as well. Their top players are: 1. Kamara 2. Michael Thomas (i think, he hasnt played in a long time) 3. Cameron Jordan (33) 4. Marshon Lattimore After that you get into middle talent. Peat and Rmcyzk deserve to be labeled as above average though - without their health concerns
  20. I can't tell if you are being facetious here... The Saints roster is in shambles right now. They can't even afford to keep their best olineman. They would have to ship away one to two of the few key defensive players to the Texans. Their roster is in a tough spot right now
  21. The saints could also making an offer that isnt amazing, to get the Panthers to raise their offering up. A way to counter the acquisition of Watson. Its a card the Texans can play....
  22. Its going to take some serious convincing for the Saints to land Watson. That franchise is literally a fracture away from collapsing and going into a full on rebuild. I cant imagine what all they would have to trade away to get Watson. Watson would be going to a more empty roster than our own.
  23. If the saints are able to make the money work, i will officially give up on the salary cap. They are currently sitting at negative 7 million in cap
