  1. this is just from all of the information gathering ive been doing. It appears we are not abandoning the offensive head coach approach.
  2. But what if Tepper doesnt offer more? How does this tactic work...? Walton is faaaaaaar richer than Tepper.
  3. Who am I missing you think should be on the list?
  4. If that was the move... then that had to come to life yesterday. Denver had their in person with Payton yesterday... so they had to have made an offer. Not much more driving up he can do at this point.
  5. So really our list looks like: 1. Sean Payton 2a. Kafka 2b. Steichen
  6. It won’t be that, the other piece to note is that this is for contract rights. Therefore, compensation can also be cash. We don’t have to give up just draft picks. We could give up a single pick and 10 million in cash to confirm the deal.
  7. This could have been an option if sean Payton didn’t burn his bridges on the way out of New Orleans. There was a huge falling out between Payton and ownership.
  8. Damn. I want to more to the why. This pretty much adds the rest of the fuel in the can to the fire around Roman’s commments. TBH SP would be a solid consolation prize.
  9. Tin foil hat theory.... Roman Harper is friends with Sean Payton, and he is using this to help drive up the cost of Sean Payton for his contract offer. If you think about it he is pinning the two richest owners in the NFL against each other. So when he says these things.... it gets a new owner like Rob Walton wanting to make a splash hire and prove he can get whoever he wants. Roman stating this makes it sound like Walton is going to have to outbid Tepper... considering the Broncos will have to make an offer before Friday's meeting with Tepper.... it's fair to assume that this comment from Roman is more than timely enough to facilitate a false bidding war. My assumption is that the Broncos make a big offer within the next 18 hours.
  10. It's really not much different than the Seahawks hiring Pete Carrol. He was 59 when they hired him and on his 2nd stint as an NFL HC. He did exactly what you can't picture according to this post. As for cap space... we can create 30million in cap without even touching our future seasons this offseason. So I dont agree with your notion unless we do restructuring and make things difficult down the road. Again, I understand your disdain for Sean Payton... I just dont think the rationale is there. This is not a new story in the NFL. Again, Go Ben Johnson.
  11. Pete Caroll is 10 years older... no way. If anything Pete Caroll, Andy Reid, Bill B, and Bruce Arians are reasons why I would be okay with bringing on a 60 year old coach. They proved that age doesnt hold back from creating successful football teams in the NFL. You are assuming the worst with Sean Payton because you dont like him, and I get it. Personally, I have no idea what SP would really do if he was a head coach here. I know he would bring a rockstar coaching staff and lure talent here. That's something we haven't had in a long time.
  12. I still dont think thats an age thing.... its more an end of term or how someone feels. I mean Bruce Arians retired went to broadcasting and came back to win a super bowl. I just cant connect the dots to your logic here on using age to provide a deterent to hire a coach. Personally I want Johnson, so Im not jumping up and down for SP. However, the reasons I dont want SP has nothing to do with his age.
  13. Hasnt McVay threatened to do this exact thing 2 years in a row now? What is he? 36?
  14. This is the 5th post ive seen talking about his age. Why does his age matter? He is a HC not a player...
  15. I used to hang out with Roman Harper when he lived at the Vue. He constantly threw BBQ parties at the pool. He also had his going away party at the Vue when he left the Panthers. From all of our conversations he really enjoyed it here in CLT. If Sean Payton was looking for a ringing endorsement on a place to live and work.... he definitely got one from Roman.
  16. Not every year is 32 NFL teams hiring a new coach though...
  17. Johnson's system doesnt leverage tight ends like Gesicki. That would be a wasted signing.
  18. why? It's a franchise and how they manage their own money. The NFL doesnt run these franchises.... that's not how it works...
  19. I agree with most of this but signing a FA WR. They are just too expensive these days...
  20. I don’t think it matters how much we pay any coach. It doesn’t impact the team in anyway. It comes straight from the owners pocket.
  21. no one in the NFL wants this goon. He must have pissed some people off during his tenure.
