not a fan of any of those... i could maybe be coerced on the Akins bit.... but i feel like his boom window is closing. Also, if we are going to do a bridge QB... whats wrong with just keeping Darnold?
-
I full expect Darnold to be our bridge. He is the right guy for it. He is humble, good for the locker room, and understands his role. One of the podcast I was listening toward the end of the year they were talking about Darnold. They went as far as to say that Darnold may become one of the best backups in the league before its all said and done. I honestly think it was the Steve Smith podcast, but I could be wrong. Apparently, Sam learned a lot from McCown.

Pro Football Network's Adam Beasley believes Geno Smith's new contract with the Seahawks makes QB Anthony Richardson an "ideal" first-round pick for Seattle. The Seahawks on Monday locked up Smith, 32, with a three-year extension after his stellar 2022 campaign, when he led the league in completion rate and threw 30 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. Beasley said short-term security at quarterback would make Seattle a leading candidate to take Richardson with the fifth pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. "That security at the most important position in pro sports allows the Seahawks to draft the guy they think will be the best quarterback in five years, not five months," Beasley said. "And given Richardson is both the most gifted and the rawest of this year’s class, the stage is set for the Seahawks to secure both their present and their future." Richardson told ESPN he had a good interview with the Seahawks at the NFL Combine, complimenting head coach Pete Carroll's energy. "We are totally connected to the quarterbacks that are coming out," Carroll said during the Combine. "This is a really huge opportunity for us. It’s a rare opportunity." How long Richardson would sit behind Smith is anyone's guess. Rotoworld's Patrick Daugherty and Denny Carter talked about Richardon's potential landing spots in a recent episode of the Rotoworld Football Show.

Some push back for you real quick on the Penn St narrative. The reason Levis didnt play there is because of Coach Franklin. Franklin is like Rivera/Rhule in the sense that he plays the older more senior players than the talented players. If there are any Nittany Lions on this board, they will share how ass backwards coach franklin is on his roster management. Levis left because Franklin was too loyal to Sean Clifford. Perfect example is that the Nittany Lions had the nation's top rated passer sitting on the bench last year while clifford sucked it up. Drew Allar was the number QB prospect in 2022 and never saw the field until Clifford got hurt. Coach Franklin is one of the best in the business at recruting talent, but he is a mediocre coach. PSU should have been a top 5 team this past year but due to coaching mistakes they were mundane. It is the same story year and after year with Franklin. Levis made the right choice by leaving two years ago. He would have never saw the field due to the loyalty that Franklin shows to his more senior players like Clifford. Clifford was pretty average during the 2020 season, yet Franklin never elevated Levis. As stated by this Nittany Lion reporter on ESPN's article : It will forever be a mystery question for Penn State football and head coach James Franklin.

I understand your perspective and I am not going to push back on it. I don't feel that I have been too radical on Levis, and if anything I have been more defensive of him on here than anything else. Most of the time when I am posting about Levis it is in defense of misinformation about the kid, or conjecture that has little data to support it. Most my content here comes from all of the services that I subscribe to. I am football nut and listen to all types of content daily. The primary perspective that I have on Levis has been driven by listening to current and former scouts/coaches talk about him. They see him in a far different light than posted here. I think it might be time for me to write up a post on Levis sharing all of this content and the pieces around how his game would translate to the NFL. I was going (and might stilll) to wait until after the pro day to write up, just so I could contribute all of the facts. Especially, if the hudddle would find this valuable. One note that has stuck in my head that Jordan Palmer said about Levis back in late fall/early winter: If Levis played for OSU or Alabama this past year... he would not only be the number 1 pick of this draft, he would be seen as the Andrew Luck of this decade (paraphrased)

He wants big money … that’s why KC isn’t going to resign him.

That's fair.. just a quick note on the footwork. As it was shared in the combine thread... his footwork was elite during the throwing session. Kurt Warner was raving about it and SS sr. was agreeing. The way his feet moved his throw cadence was what scouts are probably droooling about right now. One thing to keep in mind is that Saturday was the first time people have been able to see a healthy Will Levis since September. I think Levis is going to be a great QB in the league, as I have stated much on this message board. He is just an easy target right now for scrutiny.

If AR didnt perform at the combine... WL would have been the most athletic QB at the combine if he did his 40 and agility drills... It has now officially been reported that he didnt bc he is beinv cautious with his foot injury recovery. Everyone would be going nuts right now about Will Levis if there was no AR15.

interesting. I wonder why. He has been a long time panther fan. I actually used to chat wtih him personally when he ran his blog, for the life of me I can't remember the name of it.

REPORT: Panthers to aggressive pursue trade up to get a QB
TheCasillas replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Carr with the Saints is intimidating team in the South. We can only bet on their coaching failing but not that roster. -
yeah, tons of team's names are going to get thrown into the hat by experts but we all know it ends being only a few teams really jockeying. Every has their own plan for that position and they arent the same plan either. When Poles mentions 3 teams have called about the 1 pick... thats pretty much telling us common folk that there is only 2-3 teams that are even interested. The more i think about it, the more I think teams mortgaging 3 1s for this crop of QBs would be boneheaded. Since there is clearly not a bonified number 1 pick in this draft.

This morning on NFL network they were talking about AR being taken in the 7-11 range. They were basically speaking to the fact that if you trade up for AR and give up a bunch of picks for him... you are pretty much setting him up for failure with the lack of talent around him nor protential to get talent in the future. However, they did say.... if teams like the panthers, Jets, 49ers or Saints were to go get him... he would likely be successful because of the team thats already in place.
