Do you think we have a realistic shot after a loss tomorrow?
TheCasillas replied to onmyown's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we beat the Saints and Falcons, we will be 4-2 in the division and hold any tie breaker over them. We realistically just need to beat Dolphins, Saints, Falcons, and WFT and we are in the playoffs. The one thing that works in our favor is that we play the Bucs after they will have clinched a playoff spot and seeding. So expect rested players. I'm not going to sit here and be a playoff hopeful and throw around speculation. However, if the above were to occur (and I believe this is the most likely and feasible scenario) then we are sitting in the 6/7 seed come December. -
I agree, at a high level its pretty wild. However, usually franchises sit and wait while going through the poo. Our FO keeps on swinging. The situation is what it is, and long term impact is minimal... but I am not going to sit here and rip on our FO, because the bottom line is that they realize the decision isnt going to yield they results they hoped, so they pivoted. You dont see that kind of agility from NFL franchises typically.

I love Cam as a player, but not so much as an entertainer. Still appreciate his behind the scenes content though

Still have a big game Sunday...what are the keys?
TheCasillas replied to TheMaulClaw's topic in Carolina Panthers
Murray practiced today. He is a game time decision. I expect him to sit. -
Elfein will be center, if healthy. I expect Daley or Brady at LT

Someone mentioned there was an out on the 5th year option. So I elected to read the 2020 CBA on Rookie Contracts, and I found some interesting pieces in there. This one was the most interesting: When a team exercises the option, it becomes guaranteed for injury only. If the player is on the team’s roster at the start of the League Year in his option season, his salary becomes fully guaranteed for skill, cap and injury. The payments are not considered Rookie Salary and do not count toward league or club rookie pools or allocations. The player’s option-year salary is also not subject to the 25% Rule. So, after reading this, does that mean the Panthers can cut Darnold after this season, and we don't have to pay it? or even if we trade him to another team does it get paid (Brock Osweiller/Teddy Bridgewater/Nick Foles type of trade)? source

Zach Wilson said his "style of plays needs to get more like" Mike White. Wilson said White is his best friend on the team and that he would try to emulate White's patience and willingness to check down to the open man once he returns to the Jets' starting lineup. Jets players reportedly chant "Mike White" every time the quarterback enters the team's locker room; they've yet to chant "Zach Wilson" when the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft strolls through the locker room. It's an undeniably awkward situation for Wilson, White, and the Jets decision makers. White could make it even more awkward if he fares well against the tough Buffalo defense this Sunday. Should we try to fleece (I mean get fleeced by) the Jets in the offseason for Wilson? All jokes aside, It will be interesting to watch how this all ufnolds in New York. Especially considering Mike White is on a one year deal with the Jets. Watching Mike White against the best passing defense in the league this Sunday will be an interesting watch, and a name to monitor.

so weird that we are so determined to separate the fan base instead of uniting. What an odd mentality.

Carolina Panthers agree to terms with Cam Newton.
TheCasillas replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Have we seen any social media post from current players on bringing back Cam? -
he did report it was a "clear the air" meeting

i was kidding along with you man. That was our moment, and now you ruined it. -
He was in the meeting. Ian Rappaport shared that Rhule met with Cam first, and then Fitt, Tepp, and Drummond sat with Cam to go over contract negotiations. Rhule wasn't in the bigger meeting due to having to go coach practice.

Carolina Panthers agree to terms with Cam Newton.

I always thought that was a Joe Brady/Sam Darnold/Teddy Bridgewater issue. I expect that to continue with Cam too. -
