Hurney tried to. However, the only way we could get Herbert is trading into then top 4 and that was going to cost multiple first round picks and take Rhule Rebuilding franchise and depart them with a bunch of picks. Hindsight is 20/20, but at the end of the day Hurney and Rhule were hoping the chargers would delay the moving on from Rivers.

I agree with Hurts but not the rest. If you go back to 2020 on the huddle you will see I was screaming and posting Hurts was our guy. It just didnt work out that way though.

Actually, the top five picks are usually based on the BPA. There have been studies done that show you are more successful drafting the BPA in the first round (not any other round) than drafting for need. Most GMs in the league lean into this model, and during march/april you hear it often in their interviews. In our case, QB and DE will be a need. If we end up in the top 3, I think DE over QB could be the mentality, but it depends on the coach and gm we have come draft time.

Totally agree there. Thats actually why I made my statement prior to this one. The other QBs you listed just are privy to what TB12 was. Thats a big difference, but thats what helped Aaron and Patrick.

I can agree with Rodgers and Mahomes... but the rest I am not quite convinced yet that they can reach levels of performance that Brady has shown since his rookie year.

So there were reports that Tepper Sports told the players to ignore the media, dont tweet, and stick to the script when they fired Angel Ramirez this season. I can't say with confidence that this report was accurate. However, seeing how players have spoken about Rhule and his firing... I'd almost think they were told the same thing. Hence RA's behavior in the interview. Now the inverse to this.... they didnt believe Rhule would take them all the way, and now they are relieved.

Here is my clarification: Eason has no experience in our offense and having him take reps with the 1s is common in this situation. 49ers had 3 QBs taking reps with the 1s the year Jimmy G tore his ACL. You have to get the players acclimated with the offense that have been on the scout team. They arent normally involved in the gameplan. Sounds like our coaching staff is just focusing on being prepared if any injuries or atrocious play might occur.

PJ didnt need to.. he spent all of offseason and pre-season working in the offense with the 1s occasionaly. Eason has only been with the practice squad. He has very little experience with the 1s or the flow of the offense. Are you really trying to defend this right now? Very odd. What do you think is going otherwise?

PJ has gotten 100% of the reps since Tuesday. Eason getting reps means that Baker will not be active on Gameday. This is completely procedural in case something goes wrong with PJ on Sunday. Sounds like QBs 4 and 5 will be active for us on Sunday.
