Dan Graziano: Panthers interested in Frank Reich
TheCasillas replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
yeah in a conversation where coaches to come around eventually sometimes as soon as their second job... I could see Lane being one. He was brash and hard headed earlier in his career. -

you do bring up a good point about the new breed of college coaches though. I think the new pay system for college players will spread this breed like a wild fire. You look at coaches like Franklin PSU.... god awful game day coach but a hell of a recruiter. I think great coaches at the college level exists... but i dont see them as frequent as we once did. The only ocach that I think is NFL capable at the college level is Lane Kiffin. -

Yeah, I dont recall him saying anything about replacing the GM. He did come up short on stating the Fitt will be the GM, but it was reported afterwards that Fitt does not have a warm seat. I expect Fitt, and outside council to be involved in the coaching search. -
Staley had a bonehead call earlier in the season when they went for it on 4th and 3 with a little over a minute to go, instead of punting it. Ended up giving the team opposing team the ball in their territory. Luckily for Staley his defense got a turn over moments later. I know that was a talking point about Staley for weeks. I haven’t seen anything as “bold” since. to say that he can’t get over the hump is not really accurate here. He had a winning season last year and they .500 this year despite not having : Bosa Mike Williams Keenan Allen Rashawn Slater JC Jackson Darnell Parnham Chris Covington Otito Obgonnia that doesn’t include Herbert playing with broken ribs. Staley has done a good job keeping that team together considering almost half of his starters have missed the majority of the season.

He definitely said it. I’ll even tag in @Mr. Scot here because we discussed it in a thread during that time. -

Tepper said in his apology your that he was going to explore outside council for his next hire. So we got that going for us. -
Schottenheimer was fired because he turned down the 1 year lame duck extension from Dean Spanos. They had bad blood between each other for the longest time. Coincidence for sure, but no reason to think Staley will get fired. Staley had a winning season his first year as HC and is on pace to have another. It would have to take an absolute bombing of the season for them to move on. Chargers lead the league in missed time due to injuries to starting players, and he is still finding ways to win football games on both sides of the football.

this sounds like assumptions being made based off of his interview a couple months ago about going to a unicorn (aka team with a franchise QB in place). At this point in time, the Chargers and Cardinals are the only teams with franchise QBs that might be moving on from their HCs. I'd be interested in how much of this is truth vs speculation. Also, my theory for where Payton lands...... THE CLEVELAND BROWNS.
-
As much as I think Brandon Staley just isnt it for the Chargers... if they make the playoffs this year with all of the injuries they have been dealing with... I cant see LA firing him.

ill give you a 2nd , 6th and a future 5th.

If season ended today which QB would you take.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10019929-saints-qb-taysom-hill-to-undergo-2-surgeries-for-injuries-recovery-timeline-unknown Looks like Taysom Hill just went through same surgery in Jan 2022, and was at practice in August 2022. So I think its fair to assume that MC9 will be at offseason training camp and OTAs for the 2023 season, considering he had the surgery 2.5 months ago (9/7/2022). -

Boot off typically means 2-6 weeks of recevery window, not 7-8 months. If you are stating August will be the next time he can do anything, thats a pretty wild recovery timeline without any support like a scooter or boot. -

Two weeks ago during the broadcast of one of our games they talked about Corral having his boot removed in December. So I'd assume at that point he would be walking again... He shed the scooter about 1.5-2 months ago. -
I dont agree that he will be motivated by NYJ.. I was just interpeting the tweet. Personally, I dont think Sam Darnold gives a fug whats happening in NY. If anyting he is more motivated to audition for his next job this sunday or win a game for his team. cc: @kungfoodude

Because the Jets are back where they were when he was there... They traded him and drafted another QB who is arguably playing worse than Darnold did when he was there.
-
looking forward to it

Why cant he practice in May and June during minicamp and OTAs? I thought he was expected to be out of his boot in December. -
Before it becomes a topic of conversation this off-season

I honestly believe that we will see more QBs change teams this offseason than we have ever seen before in a single offseason. -

Im not suggesting we trade for him... Im just stating that we dont have enough data to call Lance a failed QB. Everything else you have stated above we are seeing eye to eye good sir!
