Deebo wants out of SF, and our current odds are high
TD alt replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep, homegrown is generally the way to go, especially in terms of the cap. I'm hoping---just hoping---that this will be our best receiving corps in a long time. We've certainly invested the draft capital. -

Glad we didn't think of doing that...to be honest. The 90 mil is fair...I guess. -
Barnwell - Ranking WR, TE, RB Groups in NFL
TD alt replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
By several accounts, Tepper isn't as hardly as involved as he was. That's been the criticism: that he meddles. We didn't hear or see much from Tepper in the war room; he was basically trusting his team to do their thing without much participation as it pertained to wheeling and dealing. He is also saying the right things now, and, as evidenced by the formerly mentioned, following through. Earlier this year in a discussion with Mike Kaye, Tepper referred to Morgan, Canales and Brandt as a an "excellent management team." He also added, "We're just getting started, so we're just building through this year and...it's just building and building and building, and I think, you know, we'll build in the next few years." -
Who cares if he paid for such small benefits out of his own pocket? The NCAA is a joke. They need to be offering such anyway, especially for Uber rides (which actually seems like a good idea).

[Mina Kimes Show] The offensive trends taking over the NFL
TD alt replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
To me, running the ball has always been important. Sure there have been outliers, but it's easier to win championships when you run with legitimacy. Like I've said in the past, don't get not wanting to pay RBs and not wanting to run the ball confused. As for playing under center, we'll see how that's going to work for Bryce. This is the year for him to convince the world that he's starter-material in today's NFL, and playing consistently under center is part of that, and it's really the only believable way to execute play-action. I will give him this though, he's not afraid to spread the ball around. We'll see what happens this season. -

LOL @ zero indications. I could go over some indications, as I have in past threads, but you're not going to agree, and that's fine. Moreover, I'm not speaking to soccer. We'll just have to agree to disagree. -
I could make a strong argument that everyone who posts pretty much anything on social media is trying to draw some type of attention, but whatever, it's not that important. I'm sure that if he does see posts of congratulations that he appreciates it.

"Fanboy syndrome" for wishing a guy well due to a new baby? Come on, Dude. This conversation isn't even really about the team holding anybody back, and it was not even ostensibly about on-field play, injuries or even skills, but since some took it there, as an aside, it morphed into a side discussion about the FO being forthright in negotiations. If you're not going to extend my contract for whatever reasons, don't lead me to believe that you are. It's that simple.

I don't think that Tepper would put Canales on a short leash much less a super short one for 2026, in regards to QB that is. I get the feeling that Tepper is learning that patience is necessary in this game and that allowing DC to finally get his guy and put him on a super short leash that very year makes little sense and is a recipe for continued wheel spinning. He'd at least wait until 2027, with 2028 being the cutoff. This is not to say that if the entire team looks like sh¡t this season that Canales and Morgan won't be canned or on a short leash in 2026. That could be considered "reasonable." -
Some of you guys already know this. I know you know, but you're trying to make CMC out to be a problem child. That's far from the truth. Why can't you say something like,"Good for Christian," or just don't say anything if you hate him that bad? We're supposed to be a smart fan base, right...?
-
It's not an "eternity," and plenty of NFL guys don't buy a spread like that unless they're trying to settle down roots. McCaffrey is not a dumb guy. Actually, the entire family seems smart if not practical. He wasn't out there flossing it up, he was planning to retire in Charlotte based upon what the FO was telling him and the vibes they were putting out.
-
No. Just no.
-
That's reasonable if that's how you decide to look at it. Me? He seemed like a cool enough guy (just like other NFLers), so it's nice to hear about them succeeding in life beyond football.
-
We weren't talking about that. Any reasonable and honest fan knows that if they had told him straight-op that they were trading him, that he wouldn't bought that big mansion here. He wasn't mad about the money about his first contract, he was upset about the lies when it came time to renew.

I ain't paying Garrett Wilson top money either. He'd get a step below top money at this point. Deebo shouldn't be in any conversation based on contract alone. I just don't know that having another receiver will bring the desired result, as much as it will muddy the picture as to who's starting. Bryce likes to spread the ball around, which is a good thing in my opinion, but there's only one ball. I mean, I certainly wouldn't cry about another receiver on a value deal, but I don't see it as a priority. -
You won't find it. I listened to her interview and followed all that stuff. His attitude didn't begin changing until the very end, and that was because he perceived that the Panthers FO was putting him through unnecessary b.s. and basically lied to him. Some Huddlers just are trying to spin it (much like they did with Pep). McCaffrey bought a house and was planning to stay with the Panthers for the long term based upon Scott Fitterer's word...and then when the Panthers started changing their tune and stonewalling him to a degree, his attitude changed in the eleventh hour due to being jerked around. If he hates anything, it was the way that the FO treated him.

I mean, people can rate Bryce how they want. I didn't know everyone was rating him the same as me... -

If Bryce sucks, 2025 is going to be a long season. I saw enough during the latter part of last year, and I think Bryce is smart enough to and works hard enough, that I'll give him a 5.5 to 6 out of ten on my confidence meter (and trending up). I hope that he continues to move that needle up in September. -
Rankings for the NFL south teams in cornerbacks!!
TD alt replied to Doc LRB's topic in Carolina Panthers
This was just corner rankings, and not necessarily group rankings. I'm not sure how it will all fall, but It would be nice to sign one more corner. -

Barnwell - Ranking WR, TE, RB Groups in NFL
TD alt replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025. Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025. @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels. Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical. -

That kind of buttresses the argument that he was simply dealing in generalities, at best really, and doesn't understand the nuances of the Panthers. I mean, honestly, how difficult is it to get the round correct these days? It's indicative of sloppy and lazy journalism. -

I'm gonna say Legette due to his willingness to work and improve. Secondly, I'll say Wallace because I just find it hard to believe that knowing our ex-LBs, the present GM included, it's hard for me to believe that we'd pick a bust. He showed some flashes, and he should have a better grip on his responsibilities. He believes he's ready Third: Sanders gets the spot by default. I don't know that Canales believes in TEs enough to help one turn into a star, but Sanders has some talent. He's going to have to deal with Tremble and the rookie though.
