  1. I don't see why it matters. They get drafted where they get drafted. Prime is only the dad of one man, and I wouldn't draft him anyway.
  2. I like Pittsburgh. It's a wonderful city. Arts, culture, outdoor activities, food, relatively low crime rate for a city its size---a lot lower than Charlotte's. The cost of living is great compared to Charlotte and the Triangle as well. It just offers a lot more. The only negative is the winter weather. Pennsylvania has several cities on the best place for retirees to live.
  3. I mean, I can see that he can be a problem on the sidelines and in the locker room, that's why Pittsburgh traded him (well that and D-Jac who has been pretty good up there with three picks and all), but the separation stats are the stats. The Next Gen stat specialists aren't analyzing for sh¡ts and giggles, and when Johnson is engaged he passes the eye test with flying colors. If he's disengaged, he becomes somewhat of a malcontent, and that's the issue.
  4. I'm not concerned at all. Brooks is a more dynamic runner. He's faster and more explosive. He also comes into the league as a better blocker. All of these traits, especially in congruence with the blocking translate well to the NFL. The RB position is one of the best positions in general that translate to the pros from college.
  5. It's just message board talk. I can't imagine Morgan even imagining that. We needed a serviceable LT for the better part of a decade, and then trade him away. Nah! I know some people think that he's not that good, but I know better. He's been inconsistent for sure, but his needle is on the way up. Even if we draft another LT by chance at some point, we need to keep Ickey because he's a solid lineman overall.
  6. I don't even think that he'd be on the table under any scenario. Probably not Horn or Brown either.
  7. I don't know that Daniels is absolutely better than Williams, and I don't think anyone does. That's just talk at this point. I'm not a Sanders person either. At this point I'm not a Beck or a Ewers person either. I am a Cam Ward person. He's the only QB I'd take at the top of the draft.
  8. Exactly. We'll have to see what's offered at the time and make our decision from there.
  9. Even if we don't ultimately trade back, the best QB may not be at the top, but damned good ones are. Caleb Williams may end up the ROY yet, notwithstanding Daniels. I'm not sure that Tepper won't trade back if that's what's in the long term interests if the franchise. He's tired of losing as much as we are. I don't think it has anything to do with being the talk of the town either. He's almost assuredly beyond that. I'm not saying that trading back is even the best option, but what I am saying is that being at number one opens up more options than being at two or three. That's just the fact of the matter.
  10. A seventh round pick is kind of a joke. Honestly, a day three pick is a joke. The Bryce Young experience is out of the bag. I've heard some analysts (particularly a couple in Cleveland) balk at the idea. We've lost on that deal any way that you slice it. If he's worse than Dalton, as you say, then we should ensure ourselves the number one pick by letting him play. That's more important than some day three dart throw. On an off note, Dalton had the lowest QBR this season this past Sunday, so... Honestly, I can see your point, but there is always another side. I don't think either way is going to move the needle enough to do anything...but maybe secure that number one pick, which we're on the way to doing anyway. If we can secure that pick, it will open up options (as well as new discussions).
  11. Some of you keep saying this, but let's say we do. And let's say we hand the reins to Andy or Jameis, or possibly even Bryce for the year. We end up winning five to eight games and then have to trade up all over again to get to a higher spot. How is this going to help? Trading up from the ninth spot by giving up a king's ransom is to a large degree why we are where we are this season.
  12. I really haven't tried to just forego the games. I'll put it on if nothing else. Now I have found myself surfing the web, shopping on Amazon or emailing whomever---stuff like that, as opposed to concentrating on every play. Sometimes I'll miss something good and have to watch a replay. It's a bad soap opera if nothing else. There's some entertainment value in there if you change your mindset. It's just not good football.
  13. Anyone would probably love to trade for Ickey because he has put up above average play---actually good---on a fairly consistent basis this season. He is progressing better than many younger players at the position. Don't "Chuba" Ickey.
  14. Chris Donnelly is right. We're all right, and we're all wrong. There is no right answer. That's just where we are; we're a throw poo up against the wall and see if it sticks kinda franchise. We're a week to week team on the injury report (if not year to year, if that's even possible). We go year to year hoping that we can really play.
  15. That's like saying, "I'd rather have constipation than diarrhea."
  16. To me, he looked like his head is still spinning. Once he gets some experience and doesn't have to think so much, maybe he'll look more than JAG. There haven't been any real flashes of dominance in my opinion.
  17. Well, you tell me what kinda sense it makes to pay---probably overpay for Chuba when we drafted Brooks with a second round pick. If we were going to hold on to Chuba, we should never have invested that type of draft capital in Brooks. Moreover, tell me what kind of sense it makes to hold on to Thielen when he is certainly not in our long range plans. He's an aged veteran, and we have younger guys that need experience. Now, if we can re-sign Diontae Johnson, then wonderful. If we don't plan to or can't then we need to deal him and get something out of him while we still can. Otherwise, he just walks and we don't get anything. I will listen to the argument that maybe we should keep Mingo because he's still young, but he hasn't really had that much of an impact since he's been here, and nothing really suggests that he'll be anything more than he has been. At least we've seen a flash or two out of Legette and Coker. I do believe that if we trade Thielen or Johnson, than we probably need to keep Mingo as a precaution, but not because he's been good. Tell me how keeping Miles Sanders helps us at all other than depth. He's largely been JAG. If someone offers anything for him, we may be better off just to get rid of the salary. Young talent to develop is more important than keeping old guys and JAGs on the squad. As the draft consists somewhat of dart throws you have to have picks to increase your rate of success. This is the best way to build teams.
  18. I can tell Dante Jackson by his play style and whiffs.
  19. Canales had a lot of input in the draft. "Wednesday afternoon, Canales was running through draft scenarios. Having the extra minicamp afforded to new coaches is a benefit as he begins installing a new system, but it also requires a bit of mental gymnastics to separate the on-field work and the preparation for the draft that begins Thursday night. "The early part of the morning, working all the way through the weight room and into the meetings, I really have to be locked in on the scheme and the flow of what we're doing," Canales said. "Shortly after this meeting, I'll grab lunch and then I got like snap my brain back into draft mode. And it really is cool, though, to see to be out there on the field right now to see plays happening, to imagine different players in the draft and how they would fit in with the actual bodies and the guys that we have there. "So I think that's a cool exercise, for Dan (Morgan) and the scouts who are out there watching practice for the coaches and all of us as we go through the evaluation piece, to then now shift into the afternoon with all of that film on our minds." https://www.panthers.com/news/minicamp-notebook-dave-canales-balancing-practice-reps-and-nfl-draft-prep He also had input on the O-line "Inside out, let us get our football right," Canales said when asked about signing Hunt away from the Dolphins. "Let's build this thing inside out. He was priority number one in free agency to say, OK, we're going to have an attitude about how we play football. "How do you show toughness? How do you show attitude? You run the football. So go get the best guard in football. To me, people talk about (49ers left tackle) Trent Williams as a tackle; you talk about Robert Hunt as a guard. This is a guy who's got the attitude. He's got the size, the athleticism. It's the whole package to be able to build our run game, to build the mentality of our offense. Starting with him up front was a huge get for us." https://www.panthers.com/news/notebook-canales-likes-new-look-offensive-line-robert-hunt-austin-corbett They all get blame, but the buck stops with Tepper. No one put a gun to his head and forced him to hire a part of a failed regime.
