  1. I'm just asking, because I haven't looked it up, "Who do you think has more yards after contact?" Chuba's catching ability is underrated. He's night and day since he first stepped into Charlotte. But I'm not against Rico. He's playing with purpose. The only way I think he'll stay here is if he doesn't get any bites. You do have to acknowledge the job that the line is doing.
  2. Chuba has had 152 and 153 yards in games with arguably less clean holes.
  3. Given the snaps, Hubbard may even be able to do better. Just the way I see it. The run blocking has been damned amazing also.
  4. Why in the fug would you run D.J. Dallas? Why? Someone tell me.
  5. I think Rico and Etienne will keep them more than honest. Sure, we'll have to air it out some, but balance is the key. The goal is to run and keep their offense off the field. If we get into a virtual shootout, we probably won't like the results. The defense is going to have to bring their lunch pails today. The line, backers and defensive backfield will have to look similar to last week.
  6. Listen at 6:15 if you want to know why Dowdle only received a 75 (which is good, by the way). Short answer: because the line has been balling out run blocking.
  7. I get what you're trying to say, but I have seen Tetairoa open a plenty and Hunter Renfrow open a plenty, but Bryce just misses what are supposed to be routine throws. Bryce's arm isn't Mahomes' arm, and he certainly doesn't have the plus mobility (basically the backyard-ball mentality and athleticism to run around until someone's open) and ability to make throws off platform that Mahomes' does. We also have at least two TEs that get open on the regular, as well as two RBs that can catch and get open as well. Not to mention that Jalen Coker gets open on the regular when in. I just ain't buying that he doesn't have enough weapons. Legette gets open at times as well, not to mention Tremayne. If Bryce would just time his passes better and do it more consistently, it would open up the offense. His issues, at least in my mind, come down to one main thing: his height. He developed consistently bad mechanics over the years to overcome his inability to see the field, and while he got away with it pre-NFL, in the NFL where guys are a little bigger, a lot faster, and more experienced with decidedly more motivation to consistently do their jobs, Bryce is coming up short.
  8. Some may think I'm being petty, but I'd say, "Our team, minus Bryce, has been moving in an upward trajectory." I don't know what the fúck his problem is...well, I do...I suspect it's being too damned short to accurately see on any given play, but maybe that's just me.
  9. While your thoughts on Warren and Skattebo are fun to ponder, there's just no way in hell I'm changing the first three (well, probably four) rounds of our draft. And, I seriously doubt that we'd be a good football team, much less a "very good football team," any more than we are now. Skat is the new, fun kid on the block, but he wasn't usurping Chuba or Dowdle (nor should he have in that scenario in my opinion), and McMillan will have a greater impact in this league than Warren. McMillan may just be a unicorn, but it's going to probably take a prototypical QB to unlock McMillan's oozing potential. And, lastly, Etienne is not some chump either. He doesn't have the power of Skat, but he makes up for it with speed and finesse. (Go Dawgs!) And, no, I didn't forget Scourton or Umanmielen, but they're value to our squad goes without saying.
  10. And this is exactly why I don't think Morgan's going to get the axe, not after this year's draft.
  11. If you're not elite or a potential HOFER, then LG calls you "run-of-the-mill" or "meh." Shaq has had a decent career---better than many longtime starters, but not everyone is built to be worthy of the Hall Of Fame.
  12. I will stand on the Hill that Renfrow is an A route runner.
  13. Today, I just don't see it. Moreover, Horn can't block worth a sh¡t. If you can't get Renfrow the ball, without trying to get him killed in the process, you have issues. Renfrow's problem is Bryce, and I stand by that.
  14. Draft capital is capital in terms of player support. Bryce had bad mechanics as a collegiate, but when you're playing with a supporting cast that's arguably better than 98 percent of the teams, all your flaws are minimized and give the appearance that you are better than you actually are. His third season in the pros, where there is far greater parity across the board, those same bad mechanics are laid bare for anyone that's halfway able to see, and are a liability for any NFL offense that actually wants any type of consistent verticality to their game. And that's before all of the other sketchy decision making, mistimed throws, overthrows, generally off-the-mark throws, and continual fumbles.
  15. I could be wrong, but I'd almost bet the farm that with a legit starting QB, and in particular a prototypical one, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Our offense would look like what most fans are used to seeing on any given Sunday. The Panthers FO on down is just coddling a nice guy in his third season because we spent big for him. He's a sunk cost.
  16. We're currently fúcking 30th in yards per pass.
  17. Renfrow hasn't done much, but neither has anyone not named McMillan, and even he hasn't been able to go off like he can due to sketchy to bad QB play and play calling.
  18. Joe Horn is not out fastest receiver. Bryce isn't at Bama anymore, and the receivers can and do run more than 20 yards. Bryce is just too damned short and uses bad mechanics, including playing on his tippy toes and using continual jump-passes because he can't see past all those big NFL lineman.
  19. That's your opinion. It still doesn't mean that he was, or that he wasn't put into the best positions to succeed, and still played well enough to be rank relatively well overall (including 22nd last season and has been top 10 in run defense the last couple of seasons). I mean, come on. He's certainly a better than JAG, which "meh" implies---average or mediocre. He's certainly a better LB than Coker is a receiver. Why downplay it?
  20. No, what we have is meh, Lloyd was arguably pretty good, as was discussed, and Basbear projected the ascendance. It makes a world of difference when a player is actually put into positions to succeed.
  21. Not only is he balling out tonight, he has been balling this season. Oh well... @Basbear, cheers for thinking outside of the box.
  22. I mean, you guys can be satisfied all you want. The two teams that we have beaten have helped us win to varying degrees. I'm not going to be fooled again by hollow wins. We haven't actually beaten a decent team in years. If we actually beat a good team, then perhaps we'll have something legitimate to get hopeful about, but even then we have to string some quality wins together.
  23. Well, all I know is that 32 teams are subscribed to PFF, but who knows, maybe they reference it for sh¡ts and giggles.
  24. Dud: DC Ejiro Evero "The Panthers defense had some bright spots this week, but still too many weaknesses - and there's been no effort at all to change things up and minimize them. Apparently since head coach Dave Canales has no control over this defense, the blame has to fall on defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, who should have yanked Trevin Wallace, Christian Rozeboom and Nick Scott weeks ago." Dud: HC Dave Canales "There are plenty of little problems that are worth criticizing Canales for. The operation on offense is stll far too messy in general there are too many pre-snap penalties especially. When it comes to lineup decisions, there are plenty of players getting time they don't deserve - DeeJay Dallas was added to the list this week. Then there's how Canales is misusing his talents - like having Jimmy Horn Jr. function as a jet-sweep-only kind of weapon. Worst of all was the lack of passion that Canales showed in the third quarter when he officials made an egregious reversal that cost his team a huge first down. Tetairoa McMillan was mauled by Jack Jones as he tried to reel in a deep catch, and initially they threw a flag but then withdrew it. Canales' reaction was far too understated considering the situation, and it speaks once again to the lack of urgency in his coaching. The comeback win is nice, but the Panthers deserve someone who's going to get angry when that happens, and Canales just doesn't seem to have it in his DNA. (Scroll down)https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/carolina-panthers-miami-dolphins-studs-duds-bryce-young-rico-dowdle-dave-canales I agree with most everything that was said, by the way. From Bryce's turnovers and lack of production, to making Scourton and Umanmielen the starters at outside linebacker. I don't know who we'd put in for Rozeboom though. He's likely our best option at MLB until next season. It's good to get a win, but we need more consistency with getting the players, whether they're rookies or not, that give us the best chance to win the games in the damned games. You can take it all with a grain of salt. I'm no fan of Young or Evero, and highly skeptical of Canales, and it seems that Tim Weaver feels the same way.
