Quick Note on 2021 Statistics and NFL Records
L-TownCat replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m just glad the preseason is shorter. -
That leaves plenty of room. Good call.
-
Even with Chubba? I know Christian is a RB but we all know he’s a WR(slot) too. “If” Chubba gives us at least an option, CMC becomes the most dangerous variable on the field. I know you know this, you’ve been talking about it. I’m not pitching an idea just what we could see.
-
Or carries? Where is he better? Open field or ‘tween them tackles???
-
And THAT is what we are hoping for. A team that isn’t dependent on CMC going ham. Maybe 1 week he does, then the next DJ does, then maybe Robby or Dan Arnold or…. see? That is the desired outcome. CMC is great while others contribute so he doesn’t need to be the super hero. You are all over the game plan. That’s what they want to do.
-
Neither can a broken or worn out weapon. What good is a dull blade? Ammo that won’t fire? Im just being a devil’s advocate here. I think what we all want is to be able to use CMC when we need him and for him to be the deadly asset we know him to be. We are all saying “please god don’t get hurt! Please please please please!” If he goes down, it’ll be catastrophic and there is no way to replace that kind of player. Risk management is key. edit: Every team has a player they can not afford to lose to injury. Ours just happens to be the RB.

Competing interests, cognitive dissonance, whatever you want to name it. The thing that can not be reconciled is the cost/responsibility ratio. If he costs “x” then he must take “x” amount of responsibility to make the transaction work for the team. Conversely it benefits the team long term to be conservative with its stars, but coaching tenures are short term at best. You hope everyone can be altruistic and work towards a common shared goal, but business is business. The game be damned. …..basically I don’t fuggin know.
-
I don’t think you’ll find many that would argue with what you just said. I would hope that’s the way most of us see it.
-
You’re coming along nicely.

I guess it’s a philosophical question. Do you use you’re best player as much as humanly possible to win, or do you put him on a pitch count and risk losing while not utilizing said best player? Coaches are people too. They have to do what’s in their best interest to survive. Christian will never request fewer touches. He will tell them he wants all the touches. That’s what football players do. (See Newton, Cam for other examples) I think they’ll use him depending on the situation. If they need him to carry the load, he will. If they don’t, hopefully that’s when we see Chubba. But to answer the OP, I bet it all stays pretty much the same but with CMC getting spot relief in a few games where he didn’t before.

This. No really, read it again until it sinks in.

If I’m thinking at all like Brady, the opposing Defense will key on CMC first, then the top 2 receivers. That leaves Terrace with the matchup. About the 2nd or 3rd +50yd TD where Marshall blows off the top of the Defense and teams will be forced to account for him, opening up the aforementioned players to be the stars they are. At least that’s how it goes in my daydreams.

Anderson/Moore/Marshall/Smith/Arnold/Tremble/CMC/Chubba Excuse me? Dafuq you say? I get these guys? All of them? Sheeeeesh

I’m gonna try to set aside my homer-ism and look at this roster. A: youth (youngest in the league) B: Improved secondary bolsters already stiff D-line. C) minus QB, the offense looks poised for success depending on the signal caller. D) LT will be a question going into camp but past position groups either play well above their projected level or far below it. E) skill positions top to bottom are better than at anytime in our brief history. F) Coaching seems modern compared to past staffs. G) Unknown quantity. That’s the Panthers. All the info is speculative. Nobody knows what to expect from this team There aren’t many times prior to a season where I could say a lot of this stuff. This team is wholly different than any other previous 53 man roster. That is… exciting. I’m not a fan of change for the most part but this change feels right. It feels good.

Interesting notes from The Athletic Bob McGinn's article
L-TownCat replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’ll never understand why this fanbase seeks out negative info to shove in each other’s faces. The Athletic pays Joe Person a salary. That’s enough to discount their opinions.- 25 replies

He’d still probably qualify as one of the best Carolina QBs in franchise history. And that says more about our franchise than him.
-
If he said anything the haters would say he was supposed to be the fix in Jersey. I’m sure he knows there isn’t much he could say without catching all the flak. Even though he has the opportunity to air it out.

Panthers Confidential - A Look Into the Panthers Offseason
L-TownCat replied to DeSim's topic in Carolina Panthers
6-7 years ago I’d be like “ha! Gaaay!” But something happened bro, I’m a soppy foofcake now. I don’t listen to country but only because it makes me weep like a willow. -

That’s the most ridiculous poo I’ve heard. That BBQ spot in Wilson that literally still tosses pigs in an Earth pit to smoke em, is some of the best food (bar none) I’ve EVER had. Personal preferences are one thing, but denigrating an established landmark eatery is just mean spirited. That place existed before you and I guarantee it lasts long after we’re gone. -
I consulted the oracle….

Anybody remember the name of that other “bust” QB under Gase that found a better situation and then magically began to look like an NFL starting QB? Did that happen? Was that a dream I had? He got better coaches, talent, and a running game. Tammany Hill? Fanny Thrill? Tosser Pill? Ah.. so close…
-
I agree. I think he is the worst (NFL) Head coach. I still have Bob Stoops above all other shitty football coaches. (I honestly don’t even know why he bothers me so much) Oh no, NOW I remember! It’s because they called him Big Game Bob and it was a worse misnomer than Riverboat Ron.

One hit wonders. Gase is the gift that keeps on breaking. (Is that how it goes?)
