Not really an answer lol. However, you seem to realize the gravity of OJ being civilly liable even though he was exonerated criminally. That doesn’t seem to fall under your notion that all civil suits are money grabs? So, I would say someone being found guilty of sexual misconduct for even a couple of three cases would be pretty bad. Why wouldn’t you set a precedent of using a civil suit to make an employment decision? NFL teams have made employment decisions on a hell of a lot less. Some teams won’t even draft guys with “character issues,” even if they don’t involve any criminal activity. None of this has to be black and white. You make decisions based on the information you have. Right now the Panthers have no information. Trading for Watson right now would be a complete shot in the dark and an insanely stupid decision.

OJ was also found not guilty of murder. He was exonerated under the criminal justice system. He was found liable for murder in a civil court. Under your argument civil suits don’t matter, they are just money grabs. So you would have been cool with a prime OJ on the Panthers since he was found liable in a civil court. That’s your argument man, remember civil suits don’t matter...

Yes, I understand the difference between a conviction in a criminal realm and a civil judgment. I misspoke. Dude, I am a lawyer, I can unequivocally tell you people do care about civil actions, so you really don’t know why you’re talking about if you think that the sole purpose of a civil suit. If OJ had done all the things he is accused of while he was playing would you have signed him? Cause you know he wasn’t convicted criminally, but the Brown family won a judgment against him... Again, some of y’all are way to fan boy about this and don’t think about the business or PR perspective an don’t understand risk management.

Or it could say he is a serial predator. Look, If there are 24 people lying and this is one big shake down a good lawyer will be able to snuff it out and all these stories will fall apart. However, no one will know until we get more information and perhaps go to trial. This doesn’t look good IMO, but I won’t place judgment until there are more facts. That’s why it’s best to stay neutral about it. It’s even more important for the Panthers to stay neutral because if you end up trading for him and all this is true it is a huge mistake. I don’t understand why some of y’all don’t get that. Y’all just don’t give a damn and don’t think about the consequences. Look past the football and stop coming from a fan perspective. Also this post hilarious because you criticize people for believing one side as you yourself only believe on side.

Are they dumb? Moving up two spots isn’t worth a first next year.
-
What were we gonna do? Throw all our back ups out there and say y’all got this one, we need to lose? Our was Rhule hair gonna thrown the game while dudes put their literal bodies on the line? None of that was ever happening. It’s not realistic. Players don’t care about draft position. I would also venture to say on the trade front most payers understand it’s a business.

I mean they failed by nothing of their own doing.

It most absolutely does mean something. Especially if he is convicted of any of the civil lawsuits. You don’t need choir boys in the NFL, but having the face of your franchise be convicted of sexual misconduct even if it’s just Civil is very weighty. Some of y’all need to stop acting like fanboys and come at this from a business standpoint.

You’re projecting. You have no idea what the evidence is b/c none of this has even gone to litigation. You’re just assuming this can’t be real b/c of the timing. No one knows what happened other than Deshaun and the girls. You don’t know, I don’t know, and the Panthers don’t know. With that uncertainty it would be absolutely stupid to trade for him. You have to let the legal process play out and that is gonna happen later rather than sooner. You also understand this is a civil lawsuit? The burden of proof is much lower than a criminal claim. In layman’s terms it’s basically a little over 50% chance. If the girls have texts and other evidence it’s not impossible to meet that burden. But again, no one knows the evidence. So, at this point trading for Watson would be absolutely batshit.

I mostly agree with this. I disagree in that I think it’s at least possible the Falcons trade to us if it’s the best offer they get. Basically we are looking at trading for a QB at 2 or 4. Taking a positional player at 8. Or taking Jones at 8. Perhaps we can Seattle about Russ and see if he comes here.
-
Which big time player was accused by 20+ different women? You would have to be absolutely certain Watson did nothing wrong before you trade for him and there is no way to know that. It would be a complete fug up if the Panthers traded for someone who were to be found guilty under of this. If you want him you let this play out and then trade for him if and when he is exonerated. Until then it would be terrible mismanagement. Y’all need to move on from this Watson stuff. Ship had sailed.
-
You really want to give up assets for Watson amid a massive cloud of uncertainty for lawsuits that will take months and perhaps years to play out? That would be dumb as poo. I hope you all are prepared to either draft a rookie or stick with Teddy. Cause the Watson ship has sailed.

Based on?

You may not be meaning to, but it’s coming off that way. Again, no one knows what happened. Right now it’s just people’s words. At the every least though this shows a severe lack of judgement that I don’t think you want your franchise QB having. People are free to do what they want in their private lives, but putting yourself in a situation like this just seems dumb as hell.
-
You seem to be on Watsons side big time. I have no idea what happened. I will let the legal process play out, but as it stands none of this looks good with the amount of victims. If this is one big scam to screw over Watson any good attorney will be able to snuff that out in court. I think you should probably come to the realization there is a real chance DW is a piece of poo and won’t be the QB here ever.
-
It’s not like they all found him by happenstance. He most likely put up a hotline and asked victims to contact him after the first couple of victims came out. How much vetting is involved, idk.
-
Not good IMO if the narrative is now shifting to, “well I did have sexual encounters, but it was consensual.” This is a lot to overcome in the court of public opinion. At the very least it shows bade judgment, at worst he is a predator.
-
If he did what is accused. No. If he didn’t. Yes. Simple as that. I can recognize that it is statistically rare women lie about these things. I also recognize athletes can be targets and that Deshaun having played in our area has always had a great reputation. Although, the more allegations the harder it is to believe something didn’t occur. That’s just my opinion. Ultimately it’s up to a jury to weight the evidence. My hope is that the truth prevails.

Sucks, but we weren’t going to pay that with DJ and Robby. Much easier to find a guy to replace his role.

If you follow some of the former personalities on Twitter who were hosts before Tony took over and who were canned after he became station manager, he is pretty despised.

This is new and exciting.

Suppose the Panthers don’t trade for one or draft one. Who do you want? I think there are three clear candidates. 1. Micah Parsons - need a playmaker in the middle of the defense 2. Devonta Smith - we will probably lose Curtis and he is a stud. 3. Kyle Pitts - freak TE that we need to really open up this offense (besides the obvious of a QB)
