Sam is a backup in the NFL. He has played better than I thought possible but at the same time, proven he is not a starter in the league. I wish him well though.

The regular season isn’t over yet so I suspect it will take a while to line up all the folks to interview. I think a lot of people jumped to panic mode when this was announced but there is a strong probability we will interview several other candidates.

If we sign Darnold as a backup with a halfway decent contract then draft a QB it would be ok by me. I’m fine if his role with the team is as a backup and big brother.

I’m confused. I thought coaches vying for 1 of 32 nfl coaching jobs on the planet would opt for a Wal Mart greeting positions instead cause our owner is a billionaire with an ego.

I get the rationale of fans wanting the team to lose a meaningless game in order to better their draft position. I wouldn’t even mind it from a hypothetical perspective. That said, anyone who isn’t guaranteed a paycheck after this next game has something to play for. Anybody wanting to better his economic position in life has something to play for. It’s absurd to think or assume otherwise.

Marquis Haynes is quietly setting himself up for a handsome payday. Not elite for sure, but proving to be steady and reliable.

Panthers need a long term answer at QB. Sam is not the answer. if you can find that answer he is good enough as a backup and spot duty as a starter.

Yeah. He is not as poised when the pressure is on. In his defense, he was able to play decent after the INT and fumble. Seemed to be more comfortable than last year. Not the answer at QB for sure, but played better than I thought possible.

Good summary. I give Darnold props. He has eclipsed the ceiling I thought he was capable of. But IMO it is not high enough to be the long term answer for a franchise.

Can only speculate, but Baker was the shiny new toy and he had the confidence coming in with the gunslinger attitude. Sam was probably demoralized and he never had much of a wow factor to begin with.

The word that comes to my mind is he looks comfortable. He never looked comfortable playing last season. Always seemed to be on the edge of disaster. It’s still a very small sample size but he is a better player than he was previously. Not saying he is the answer and not saying he is a franchise QB. Just saying he seems to have improved quite a bit.

I think baker also had 121.4 if u combine 3 or 4 games.

Zach Wilson resembles a destitute man's version of Sam Darnold. Not sure how the Jet's have pulled it off but they seem to have actually regressed at QB since Darnold's departure. If you are a Jet's fan and try to noodle that one around for a bit your head will explode.

This will warrant 7-10 pages of fighting. But to answer your question 1. He has a point 2. He also has obvious bias 3. Some players drafted in later rounds are successful 4. Some guys drafted in Round 1 bust 5. Round 1 guys have Higher success rate and achievement.

I’d still bitch about cap management and inability to sign players. Gotta dig deep in the hate man. Only way to go.
