Pejorative Miscreant

I don’t have high expectations. Dalton is a former pro bowler and I expect competent play but with lots of limitations. By competent play I mean being able to complete passes > 10 yards, step up in and play in the pocket and have a QBR > his shoe size. They will likely look like a bad and very flawed professional football team but I expect significantly less dysfunction compared to the last two weeks.

My thought is I think Canales is using the weekly Tepper meetings to his advantage. He had to give Bryce a chance and be on board with the “Franchise QB” so he has said and done the right thing from day one. He may have made the final decision but me thinks he got the blessing from above. translation: Logic prevails and Tepper is admitting defeat on this one.

As a fan who doesn’t have the $$$ go to games I will say it is easy to stick with them passively. For PSL holders and people investing a lot of time and money I think it is a different animal. Those folks should be pissed off.

I think Canales has to go through the motions to “”give Bryce every chance to improve”. I think this lasts until week 4/5 max. He has weapons and protection. All the excuses from last year are gone.

Yeah. I mean I thought we would see a play or two where we looked competitive but that’s not to be. I definitely don't think panic enters the equation but someone on Mint Street needs to face a harsh reality though. I don’t think Frank Reich is a great coach but I don’t think he is totally incompetent. Verdict is still out on Canalea but I can’t help but think the problem is just scheme at this point. Had to drive to Atlanta today so listened to the game on radio and I can’t count the number of times Jake used the word “disappointed” when it came to BY. Dude was being diplomatic because of who signs his checks I suppose, but I felt like he wanted to say this guy sucks so many times.

They were frustrating teams to watch but Ron wasn’t such a slouch either compared to the history of this Tepper era. By far the best and most stable coach Tepper ever fired IMO. He isn’t suited for this era of football but damn we are now clawing to get back to that level of mediocrity. This is not a vote for hiring Ron again or saying he is an excellent coach so please don’t hate. Just a comparative observation.

I hope (that word again) Canales is able to convince Tepper where the problem is. I wanted BY to work out and still want to be wrong about this but the team needs to begin the process of moving on. He has an offensive line and receivers that are getting open. Excuses from last year are gone. Sad to say but he doesn’t seem to be able to perform at a level that allows an NFL team to compete.

Perspective and routine…. When your QB doesn’t have perspective during the game he will routinely throw bad interceptions, not read defenses and cause your team to look totally inept.

Agreed but if BY is the QB, this team will have the number 1 pick. They can pick whoever, trade it or screw up again, but this guy isn’t winning many games behind center.

I was waiting til this season to see how things went and while I was not optimistic, I was still willing to reserve judgement. I did not see any improvement or change in today’s play that says he is an NFL quarterback. I don’t see a plausible way for him to continue in the league. He will get a couple more starts but I think this experiment is close to being over.

What’s left of the optimist in me says Canales has to try with Bryce and say all the right things in order to get someone in the organization to come to the conclusion everyone has already arrived at. If/when this eventually happens might as well ride BY to the number 1 pick. Again.

I haven’t seen one of my teams have such a loppsided loss since, well, last night…

I think at this rate he will carry us to the #1 draft pick next April also.
