  1. During this season my dial started at “Wait and see but not at all optimistic”. Then after two games the dial went to “Experiment failed time to move in another direction”. Now, post benching the dial is at “wait and see but very optimistic”. He now looks like a legit starter and may be the long term answer. I’m proud of the young man’s determination and resiliency and he deserves to be the starter next year. Would still like to see him progress further but things are moving in the right direction for sure.
  2. The man deserves credit. Maybe a novice as a head coach right now but a master at mind checkers. The mood and the morale in the building on the sidelines and in the fanbase has swung from depressing and melancholy to yippie ki yay in a few short months. During this time period he benched the owner’s handpicked franchise qb, eradicated the locker room of Deontae then brought the benched QB back to seemingly resurrect his career. The team fielded a historically terrible defense, and finished with over twice as many losses than wins, but lots of folks including myself would gladly watch an 18th game this coming Sunday if there was one. Sure, he is far from a finished product as a coach, but he has made a positive impact on the team. Even though a lot of things can change, I think Canales keeps going in the right direction.
  3. According to historical huddle pre draft math calculations, the top 20 best guys will be gone by the time we pick at 8. Truth is, any one of a DT, Edge, WR, LB, S or CB with the 8th pick should infuse talent and upgrade the roster.
  4. I saw the replay and it looked like he may have been tempted but decided otherwise
  5. I think the author of this piece wants you to believe Bryce is a changed QB post benching and takes some liberties with the data to argue the point. All that aside, I credit Bryce for coming back strong and fighting. I don’t see his as a long time answer (I am wrong all the time so if he works out I’m all for it) but I don’t think we need to panic and go in another direction this off-season. I would bring in someone for competition but don’t want to go down the road of shopping for a franchise in this draft.
  6. Late round RB is ok for me. Skattebo looked good yesterday but there are likely others.
  7. You should write to the guys playing and coaching for a paycheck and explain that to them. I’m sure they will understand the rationale.
  8. LT is not a looming problem right now. Not signing Ickey makes it one. No need to manufacture a crisis when we have plenty of others all throughout the roster.
  9. The “eye test” that I personally wanted Bryce to pass has been passed. I don’t think there is an urgent crisis or need for this team to chase a QB in the draft or FA except for competition and depth. There are many, many more voids on this team and he is not the reason we are losing games. I still don’t know (or think) he is a long term solution but I’m wrong all the time.
  10. Hell of a throw there. I also give Bryce extra credit for the snot bubble he took on the previous play. Needed a touchdown. Got a touchdown.
  11. So many other consistent issues to worry about. I’m an NC State grad and would love to say Ickey is great but even as an NC State grad (some of u Carolina guys are thinking it) I have the smarts to realize he is not the great LT we want him to be. But he’s not the worst and has played ant a level this season where we don’t mention his name too often. I can’t see the FO spending man hours scheming a strategy to trade Ickey. If something stupid crazy falls out of the sky then fine but no way is this team in a position to shop a young average to sometimes above average starting LT. Just my.02
  12. “Canalas is runs an undisciplined team” Can’t help but notice the abundance of irony in this thread title.
  13. I think there are a lot of people that feel this way. Sums it up nicely.
  14. I know nothing but I get a sense that there is a lot of buy in from the guys in the locker room and a lot would be attributed to Canales. Hard to explain, but it seems like they are losing but still having fun and working hard. Not saying they are happy with losing but they still seem to be loose and confident. Also, I think somehow there are a lot of Carolina fans excited about a 3 win football team and look forward to Sunday afternoons.
  15. I like what we are seeing. Before Bryce was the main reason the team was not able to compete. Now he seems to be the main reason we are in a position to win. Yesterday he passed the ball for a go ahead touchdown and it was literally in the receiver’s hands in the end zone. He’s not the problem the last few games. This is for sure. is he elite franchise qb material? For me, it remains to be seen, but this latest version of Bryce is a competent and talented NFL player.
  16. I was on the “wait and see” fence for a long time with Bryce and finally saw enough to abandon ship. I like what he’s done the last few weeks but would like to hold out on the verdict till the end of the season before officially thinking he’s turned a corner. Not diminishing anything he’s done and not gonna try to backup this stance with some weak nit-picky arm chair analysis nonsense. He’s passing the eye test but I’m simply withholding judgement.
  17. I am skeptical of Bryce’s ability each week and fo the past ew weeks he has surprised me. He is doing what he needs to do to keep his job. It needs to continue forward but he seems toe improving each week. Whether it continues will be enough is a question mark. He looks confident and appears to be energized. Team is losing but it looks like they have played 8 quarters of competitive football with two playoff teams. Sucks that we aren’t winning but the games are enjoyable. I think Philly might be a buzz saw with some regression from the entire team but still looking forward to it.
  18. Yeah, that set of goal to go calls was not that imaginative. Needed a TD there.
  19. I fall into the would love to be wrong” category and while I disagree with your stance, I definitely understand and respect it. A lot of people probably feel the same way you do because there has been much more negative than positive.
  20. Good for Bryce and team. That said, I think the media tends to sensationalize things a bit much and by the end of the week, the guy that was benched and thought to be a bust is carrying a walk on water narrative around his neck. I like that he is saying the right things to his teammates and also trying to legitimize himself as an NFL QB but the dramatization kind of cheapens the whole thing for me personally.
