Official Panthers at Saints Game Day Thread
Pejorative Miscreant replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
It is very sad and disheartening that I find this extremely hilarious. -
There goes my fantasy team. Said no one. Ever.

On the optimistic side, with no expansion teams coming in we can’t get any worse off, right?
-
On the bright side, at least they don’t have a nine hour flight after this.
-
Before the season started I was happy my Wolfpack didn’t have to plat FSU. Now I’m happy they don’t have to play BC.
-
Nice write up and post. Hoping both teams have an injury free game and everyone stays healthy but I wouldn’t mind if a few of your guys had to stop and tie their shoes during a play or 12. Thanks for the detail.

so are we done with the "answer is on the roster" era?
Pejorative Miscreant replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
Based on the current pace of rebuild, the answer is a 9th grader that just started playing JV football. -
I think from time to time folks (including myself) get caught up in the relative differences between NFL players and dont look at the fact that those guys out there fighting for a roster spot have busted their ass and achieved more than 99ish percent of their peers. You are on point with your take IMO.

I think he’s gonna suck anyway so maybe this gives them an excuse as to why.

I am not a "film guy" or highly versed on the details when it comes to plays and techniques and admittedly know less than than most. I'm a simple fan watching the team play. But when I looked at some highlights from last year, the entire line looked like they did not know what they were doing at times and resembled chaos. Throwing a raw rookie into that makes it even more chaotic. Not saying we should give him or anyone else a clean slate but I would like to see them more this year before deeming them all failures. Saturday was a small sample size and will not draw any conclusions from that either but it was refreshing to see guys making a coordinated effort.

Getting someone to trade for TMJ would be great but not sure any other team wants to pick him up. Morgan pulled off the improbable with the Michael Jackson (CB) trade for a 7th round rookie that was never going to see the field so you never know. TMJ was just never able to get over the hump here. Hope he finds a landing spot where he can put it all together though.

The field goal drive before halftime gave me optimism. Players seemed to be on the same page, looked disciplined and knew what to do. And that was with one of the worst 3rd string QBs in the league. I know I shouldn’t be surprised that a professional football team looked professional but I was. No need for the DBO sign on that one.

Thomas would definitely be a surprise cut. Perhaps a welcome one but a surprise nonetheless. I’m sure he’s a decent team guy and wish him the best but he’s way overpaid for the value he brings.

Game Thread: Panthers at Bills
Pejorative Miscreant replied to *FreeFua*'s topic in Carolina Panthers
Entertaining. Players making plays. Starting QB looked fairly crisp. It’s preseason so I’m not jumping out of my chair but this does look like the Carolinas have an NFL franchise. No complaints. -
IMO not playing BY and other starters is risk mitigation. It is a roster that is void of solid talent so in their minds, risk of a starter's injury in the preseason is greater than the benefit of playing them. I don't like it as I wanted something in the preseason but can see the rationale. So I guess instead of me complaining about the performance of the starters in preseason or the coaches playing starters where they get hurt in meaningless games, I have to settle for complaining about the starters not playing.

I think this is the correct answer but Mingo and Marshall shouldn’t be playing. The team has more than enough info already. We saw their version of everything but the catching all last season.

I’m friggin old. Before this franchise had its inaugural season,, I was a Wolfpack graduate and firmly immersed in fandom consisting of suckage and mediocrity. I will be a lifer.
