Canales on fixing Bryce's footwork
Pejorative Miscreant replied to Jackie Lee's topic in Carolina Panthers
My apologies if the post caused confusion. I thought it was fairly clear that I did think he would need to try and make it work but sometimes what I type is not a clear reflection of thought. Simply put, the narrative is that Canales is trying to "fix" Bryce. Canales needs to follow through with said narrative. If it doesn't work, move on. -
Canales on fixing Bryce's footwork
Pejorative Miscreant replied to Jackie Lee's topic in Carolina Panthers
Canales has little to no alternative than to spread the narrative that he is looking to "fix" Young. He may think on the inside that there is no way in hell to fix him but he still has to put that out there and try to make it work. Reich took an alternate approach and I guess it got him a lucrative retirement package but I think Canales has more career ahead of him than behind him so I believe he is right to go in with this mindset. That said if you try your best to "fix" him and spend boatloads of money to protect him and it still doesn't work, then you have a case to move on while still being in good standing with Tepper. I'm good with his approach and hope (which is dwindling) it can yield significant results. -
I don't want to hate on NO just because they are a division rivals. I wish them all the luck and good fortune in the world in re-signing Cam Erving to a very lengthy and lucrative contract.

Tomlin on Diontae as a Panther gives me some anxiety
Pejorative Miscreant replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not clutching my pearls just yet. Reading between the lines we may have a talented WR upset about playing time and/or not getting receptions on his former team. if it works out it works out. If not it’s a really good/value stop gap at a position of need. Canales has experience and can maybe channel some Pete Carol zen. I also think AT and Moton can help temper some of this on the offense via veteran mentorship if something crops up. -
Athletic mock dated mar 25
Pejorative Miscreant replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I see what they are doing here and I’m ok with the first pick. It goes off the rails for me with the trade of the 39th pick. You are basically trading out of the 2nd round and getting 3rd round picks in 24 and 25. You can get a probable starter at 39. Doesn’t set well with where we are at from a roster standpoint. -

Fair assessment in my opinion I believe the org is doing there best to surround him with pieces that will help his progression. If that progression does not happen they should look to correct this sooner than later (i.e. in 2025 look to draft a QB if feasible) My view of BY is that there is still hope but as the season went on, that diminished for me. I want whoever they put behind center to succeed so I am pulling for him.

Entered State as a freshman right when Valvano was exiting. I have watched all teams since that time strive to achieve mediocrity year after year so this is both unexpected and special. Happy for the players coaches and fans alike. My son is also heading to Chapel Hill in the fall so it was highly entertaining as a State Grad to spoon feed him (in good fun) a poo burger Saturday night.

Cautious optimism would be my overall impression. As OP said you can’t jump the gun and judge overall results but the moves do seem to suggest a plan.

Is Drafting a WR in the 2ND Really A Good Idea?
Pejorative Miscreant replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
If they go into the draft determined to take two WR in the 2nd round it’s not a good idea. If the board falls that way then it’s a different story. I think it’s highly unlikely to fall that way but I could be (as I often am) totally wrong. -
BOLD Prediction: Defense will be Better not Worse
Pejorative Miscreant replied to WUnderhill's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Burns were still here under the tag he would be pedestrian and playing to not get hurt. There is reason for optimism and in thinking Luvu is the only great loss on the defense. No reason to think the Defense cant improve. -

What will Dionte Johnson’s attitude be on the Panthers?
Pejorative Miscreant replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think thus far, the FA has been fairly solid for the Panthers and should be able to play somewhat competitive football next season. That said, the optimist in me thinks this team is only a C, DB, Edge, WR, TE, RB and possibly QB away from competing for the division. Reality says in round 2 pick BPA who is not a kicker, long snapper or mascot and they get an A/B draft grade. -
Yetur Gross Matos to the 49ers
Pejorative Miscreant replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think some of the reaction is misplaced acrimony for the Burns trade. If we had signed YGM for 9 a year some folks on here would be out on mint street with pitch forks.- 74 replies

Panthers cut Bradley Bozeman
Pejorative Miscreant replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agree but to me Thomas is a greater mystery. Bersin's ceiling was at best, a bottom of the roster guy and was always paid as such (as I recall but I may be incorrect on this). Thomas' ceiling is at best a bottom of the roster guy that gets paid like he produces but doesn't. -
Panthers cut Bradley Bozeman

The team can buy a new turnstile and a couple practice dummies. Probably come in well under 400k and still be able to replace the lost productivity. That’s front office genius IMO. -
Yes. I personally think it can be beneficial if an owner is engaged but not overly involved. Tepper has a right to know what is going on but outside of agreeing milestone events he has no business being the decision maker for personnel decisions, coaches strategies etc... I am good with him asking questions and signing off on events when it comes to say tagging Burns or trading the farm to move up to #1 and draft a QB. But he is not knowledgeable enough to give the pointed directives to tag a specific player or trade assets to draft a specific player. There is a fine line between engaged and meddling but right now the Teppers are on the wrong side of said line.
