Post-free agency draft needs reset: Offense
Pejorative Miscreant replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
In the bot's defense, "consistent suckage" is technically a stable state. -
This is well stated. I've often wondered and thought maybe there was a weighted composite formula that is scored that makes the grading quantifiable. It could also include intangible factors such as "dog" and "need". This is all conjecture and I'm dumb and blind as poo regarding what's in the secret sauce but that would be at least one way to approach it.

Pure speculation on my part but I guess you could put the guy on the practice squad. Somehow I dont think too many teams are looking to purge a LS but could be wrong. Wouldn't want to waste a roster spot. I have to think the team and dare I say owner probably have a good relationship with JJ and will keep them in the loop on his retirement plans when he starts mulling it over. Dude breaks a team record every Sunday and that's gotta be cool for him.

"The Panthers had the NFL’s most underrated offseason"
Pejorative Miscreant replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is a pretty good assessment IMO. As mentioned he is on a rookie contract and if he fails to improve we will likely have a high draft pick next year and wouldn't be surprised if we target a QB. I view the moves we've made should allow a young QB to display talent and grow. The upgrades to the line and beefing up the WR room also help, but it doesnt have to be the guy they have installed there now. That said, I want BY to succeed but he can't excel under these conditions or show marked improvement, you try to move on. Sure, it will turn out to be an extremely costly experiment but that is the only path. -
I want all of our players to succeed And maybe he can turn it around. But last season my hope changed to nope for TMJ

Receiver Archetype We're targeting...
Pejorative Miscreant replied to SaltAndPepper's topic in Carolina Panthers
Right now I am crushing for a fast dude that can get open and catch. Also, archetype is a really fun word to say so thanks. -
Anything other than this needs to come with a caveat in my opinion. I am quite satisfied with the moves they made and it looks like there is a plan. But... We don't/cant/won't know whether or not this works until the games are played. Not hating on Morgan or putting the team down. I give Morgan and Co all the props as lots of these moves look to be calculated and appear to address holes, but we don't know until they play the games.

Sorry. You must be confusing this place with some other fan forum you moderate. No one would ever overreact here.

PRIORITIZED Needs as of 3/28/2024

In principal I agree with this and like where your head is on this. I still think they need to look at BPA and hope it lines up with need though. -
Morgan kicking arse and taking names
Pejorative Miscreant replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it’s fine for me personally to be satisfied with the moves as long as expectations are tempered. On paper it looks good. On defense the Panthers traded away “best” defensive asset on the team but the defense still looks like it should be able to perform at the same or better level. While there are no on field everything looks positive so far. On offense there were glaring holes in protecting your QB and have made additions to protect your QB. If you go in a different direction and move on from Bryce that foundation should be good for the next guy. I like the moves and think there is a plan to this but they still need to hit in the draft and it's a given that all of this still needs to equate to field execution and game success. I think this is still a bad football team but they are a better than last year and things are looking up. -
Probably backup safety depth also.

Canales on fixing Bryce's footwork
Pejorative Miscreant replied to Jackie Lee's topic in Carolina Panthers
My apologies if the post caused confusion. I thought it was fairly clear that I did think he would need to try and make it work but sometimes what I type is not a clear reflection of thought. Simply put, the narrative is that Canales is trying to "fix" Bryce. Canales needs to follow through with said narrative. If it doesn't work, move on. -
Canales on fixing Bryce's footwork
Pejorative Miscreant replied to Jackie Lee's topic in Carolina Panthers
Canales has little to no alternative than to spread the narrative that he is looking to "fix" Young. He may think on the inside that there is no way in hell to fix him but he still has to put that out there and try to make it work. Reich took an alternate approach and I guess it got him a lucrative retirement package but I think Canales has more career ahead of him than behind him so I believe he is right to go in with this mindset. That said if you try your best to "fix" him and spend boatloads of money to protect him and it still doesn't work, then you have a case to move on while still being in good standing with Tepper. I'm good with his approach and hope (which is dwindling) it can yield significant results. -
I don't want to hate on NO just because they are a division rivals. I wish them all the luck and good fortune in the world in re-signing Cam Erving to a very lengthy and lucrative contract.

Tomlin on Diontae as a Panther gives me some anxiety
Pejorative Miscreant replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not clutching my pearls just yet. Reading between the lines we may have a talented WR upset about playing time and/or not getting receptions on his former team. if it works out it works out. If not it’s a really good/value stop gap at a position of need. Canales has experience and can maybe channel some Pete Carol zen. I also think AT and Moton can help temper some of this on the offense via veteran mentorship if something crops up. -
Athletic mock dated mar 25
Pejorative Miscreant replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I see what they are doing here and I’m ok with the first pick. It goes off the rails for me with the trade of the 39th pick. You are basically trading out of the 2nd round and getting 3rd round picks in 24 and 25. You can get a probable starter at 39. Doesn’t set well with where we are at from a roster standpoint.
