As a Steeler fan, I agree. Fields had one season that looked good. But he had WR and a line that he should have had multiple seasons. we've took mitch Trubisky and hoped it was the bears coaching who was the problem...... but we learned mitch was horrible. And he was so horrible that a #3 QB was able to take his spot. I hope fields shows to being a #2. If he does then sign a long contract that's cheap. So then in a 2026/2027 he can start and look good...... but I think he'll hit free agency next year and someone will have him be a starter. And then we get a comp pick for him.

Pickett cried when we got Wilson. Because he wanted to be 1.... but it's strange he went to eagles to be the backup. Pickett also stopped working with WR right after he found out we got wilson. I'm shocked how Pickett behaved. But with that said we had no one behind wilson. So we would have been looking at drafting in the 3rd. So With getting fields, we're kicking the can down the field another year. As well looking at getting a comp pick for him if he goes on to be a starter for someone. Also funny fact, fields is a year younger than Pickett.

Ummm you must have not been our site or searching x. There's no Steeler fan saying that. 1. We worked Jackson contract to 4.75 million. 2. We understand Jackson had an injury a couple years ago, but played a full season last year. 3. We know he can be a #1, but understand he let's up big plays. 4. We needed a corner bad. but Johnson..... 1. dude was a locker room cancer. 2. He watched a fumble happen in front of him and walked away. 3. While he can be flashy, he also can make you hit your head against the table with his running back 5 yards after a catch. ..... much like y'all say that Jackson let's up big plays. 4. Johnson contract was not worth it. And his problems and his locker room issue was going to get him cut regardless. ..... while y'all were probably going to cut Jackson as well, due to his contract. But we worked his contract down to 4.75.

We're cool with it. We understand he will be our #1 and can tackle. But we know he'll let up big plays. We know there's an injury a couple years ago. And we hope it doesn't happen again. But with him reworking his contract to only 4.75 million, it makes it all OK to us now.

We need a Corner bad. We would have took a #3 and been happy.
-
Wa it really that bad? Johnson will drop a couple. But who doesn't.... you'll be happy with him, as long as you don't get upset when he goes back 5 after the catch. He can be a #1. And his injury wasn't that bad. It just sucked. I don't see him being injury prone.

I still say it's the Chinese currency where it came from. And no one wants to admit it. Lol
-
Don't get so butthurt. Like I said week one you'll be asking why he drops back after the catch. So I guess everyone at the Steelers forum has been complaining for 2 years and calming him Mr. I run backwards for nothing.
-
We tried hard for the Bills center. So I'm really surprised we didn't try for your center. We are sitting right now with no one because we cut the guy who would under throw it so many times.
-
You know where we can find a decent QB at? Lol. Even if russell wilson works out for us. It's just going to be a year
-
Thanks. Last year we rotated QB. It was our #3 that made Pickens look great. I would not worry about health. Unless you're going to run him into the ground. And I agree we are both trading for hope.
-
Now I want to know why yinz couldn't trade us your center before he was cut!!!
-
Ah, then you'll be fine with him. He has more breakouts vs getting hot when he goes back 5. He'll drop some. But who doesn't? He's injury sucked, but it wasn't like a bad thing. I also think we were cautious with it, due to we had WR to go to. .... so if you're used to that and cool with it then you should be happy with him getting 10 million. That will look good for you.
-
Negative. I like the kid. But a lot of Steeler fans hate it. He shut Tomlin up at the end.
-
It was Johnson thing. No one else did that move off the catch and then go back 5. If not for that he would probably have another 100 yards
-
You mean like Claypool did to the bears when we traded him?
-
Forgot to upload this image. @WUnderhillbut we've talked about it for years. There's threads on it.
-
Be prepared it will drive you up the wall when he catches and runs back 5 yards. I bet week one yinz will be asking, "what was that?".
-
Thanks. We coach up tackling, so that will be nice to see he didn't need that training. Health we are meh on.
-
Look at receptions. Two years ago Johnson was #1. Last year Pickens didn't start getting the ball until the end for receptions. Just because Pickens put up great numbers, doesn't make him a #1.

https://youtube.com/shorts/l514q9vpSJk?si=oICE8Nw7XmdPTuPu This is what to be prepared for after he catches. He'll drop back 5 yards and then break out. Some times it will work, some times it bites.
-
last year he would just watch stuff. Like a fumble happen.... so I hope your coach lights a fire into him. And he doen't turn out like Claypool for the bears.
-
Thanks, I appreciate that. Because we have been burned last year. P² was a joke. And the boy we drafted was a #2. Which was hard on him because of no one to help him. I hope the best for Johnson. Some times that move off dropping back 5 and then making a move worked. But it scares the heck out of you. Also our QB suck. Last couple of years with Ben we thought was bad, but it went to being a nightmare. So maybe Johnson can be better. Also our OC was an idiot. (I would curse and say worse, but I'm not sure what is allowed here).... so maybe Johnson can be better. George Pickens seems to be good for us. But there's an attitude. I like it, but most fans hate it.
-
Wait what? Johnson is a potential top 10? I'm dying. Dude had zero touchdowns 2 years ago. He was forced in the #1 slot and he is just meh. There's a reason why he's only getting paid 10 million. Oh and be prepared for him to drop 5 yards back after his catch, and then he makes a move.
-
Ummm he was our #1, who told you he wasn't? Pickens was practically benched a couple games, as well so many below 50 yards. By Chance have you bothered to look at his 2022 year of a whopping zero touchdowns.
