Trade up for Stroud/Young and we win the division next year
-
So if we’re down to two, we should get news by tomorrow I’m thinking. I bet they chose a candidate and they’re going to sleep on it before making a final decision

Ryans interviewed with Denver and Houston yesterday and cancelled the following two interviews to "prepare for [today's] games" which basically means he's taking one of those two jobs.

I'll say this as a high school coach. I transferred schools to become the new head football coach at a bottom feeder school - I knew nobody on the staff and had to build the staff from the ground up. Even doing that at the high school level is very intimidating and challenging. I commend Ben Johnson on not taking a cash grab and doing what probably is more comfortable and will probably be more successful (at least next year) in Detroit.

This tells me he wasn’t ready mentally for a head coach job or all in. Glad he figured it out now before we interviewed him.

The Bucs look fuging atrocious and I love it.

This Bieniemy craze will only end when all 32 teams interview him and realize he must not be head coach material.

Kick em while there down: NFL All pro first team
Jesse replied to PootieNunu's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd like to think that Surtain is on this list because the Broncos - undeservedly - were on national TV four or five times this year and just showed out. I don't have a doubt in my mind that Horn is a top 5 corner and I'm still happy we got him. -
Tepper clearly wants to change the Panthers identity

To be fair, Rhule was a college coach with no real NFL experience. He conned his way into our organization and shitted on it since he was fired. I don't foresee these NFL lifers doing the same. -

I know it’s been like 7 years, but if only we had this line when Cam was here.. hell, he might still be with us. -
You must be new here. Can I introduce you to Alice?

Far from the truth. I’m a McVay homer, I’ve bought books that outline their scheme, watch all the Rams games. But as good of an offensive genius he is, he’s even a better leader. Why do you think Aaron Donald didn’t retire this year? He said because McVay didn’t. He and Les Snead have revolutionized the way players are scouted - they don’t even use the workouts or times as part of their report. He’s a leader because he puts his ego aside and learns from others. As another example, he hired longtime coach Wade Phillips when he got the job to learn from as a prior head coach and defensive knowledge. I’m a fan of his wide zone scheme and have listened to too many podcasts about their offense and would love a coach to bring that to Carolina. All that being said, we need to find the best coach for the Panthers.

Being a head coach in the NFL is not about X’s and O’s. It’s about managing and having a real relationship with players, appeasing to the front office, hiring quality coaches and making the right game time decisions. The reason you see people like Shanahan and McVay have a lot of success isn’t the playbook, but their leadership qualities. They hemorrhage coaches year in and year out because quality coaches who want to learn from the best coach under their leadership. Everyone runs essentially the same playbook, it’s just a matter of how it’s taught and conceptualized. So I don’t need to hear anyone talk about whoever because of their style of offense or playcalling abilities. Look at Sirianni in Philly - he gave up coordinating duties and the offense has exploded. Let’s say we get some great offensive mind but has a limpdick personality (Adam Gase in NY, Joe Philbin in Miami, MATT RHULE) and what do you have? There’s not a play book or scheme in the world that outclasses the culture and personality of a team. With that said, it’s become more apparent each day that Wilks deserves this job.

Why wasn't DJU benched after the Syracuse game? He's a nice enough guy, but this is a production based business. I'm surprised Dabo took this long.

I think it depends on our draft status by the end of the season. If we don’t draft Young/Stroud/Penix then maybe?

Give me anyone over Mike Remmers and we win. Literally anyone in the league at the time. fug man, now I’m upset again. It’s been 6 years and I’m still not over the fact we got robbed.

Please bench PJ. It's not even watchable.

Bryce Young carried Alabama last week. Without him they get blown out. He hides a lot of holes they have and is a certified stud. Consider this: the Broncos had Russell Wilson rated higher than Brock Osweiler, but went with Brock because of height.

Levis has terrible decision making, despite being in a QB friendly offense. Hendon Hooker runs Huepel's offense that relies on 1 on 1s, wide receiver splits and takes advantage of the college hashes. Anthony Richardson is the most up and down QB in the entire country. You also scout the player, not the helmet.

Don’t be surprised if Panthers beat Rams Sunday
Jesse replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm a huge McVay fan so I've followed them especially since the 2018 season. They're a mess on the offensive line this year and thus the backs haven't gotten much work and Stafford does not have a clean pocket or time. McVay just said in his presser after the loss to the Cowboys that they need to support Stafford better. With that said.. They're top heavy with Donald, Kupp and Ramsay. Believe it or not I think this game is close, but we'll end up losing it especially with PJ Walker starting. -
