I don’t know.  What was the line of the Lions game last year vs a normal Teddy game?

That's going to depend much more on the opponent. What you need to see if the line moves after an injury report, and Teddy's knee was already in question so that was baked into the initial line.

Noted that Rhule said "Sewell, because he's an LT" when he wrote his name on the board. He didn't throw in extra justification like that for the other names. Tells me they weren't in love with him but knew they had no choice if the top LT fell.

Go back and listen to the video again. Rhule's says "because he's an Offensive lineman". He's doesn't say Tackle.

PJ Walker is better than Grier.  That’s basically the PJ conversation at this point.

We're in trouble if either is starting (and given Sam's injury history, that's definitely within the range of outcomes). The betting line moves at least 5-7 points if Sam isn't the starter.

I feel they most likely edited out any QB discussions at 8 (or moving up).

Interesting at 6:11 of the vid when Rhule listed the players they liked, that FIELDS was NOT one of them.

It's probable they edited out any QB discussion, but it's also clear from the clips surrounding the acquisition of Sam Darnold that they a) bought into the age thing and b) compared him to the QBs coming out in the draft. They are all in on Darnold. Let's hope that was the right decision.

The other name you didn't see at all was Rashawn Slater...

So that's why we didn't trade down from #8. A bunch of teams were calling us offering negative points!

And that folks is how a real front office operates. I shudder to think how those conversations would’ve turned out if Hurney was fielding those calls.

It makes me wonder if the Panthers had developed a reputation in the league for taking negative points trades under our previous management, and teams were testing the waters to see if Fitterer would be similar.

Our TE room is still not great, but I'm also not sure that Joe Brady's offense really requires it.  In an LSU offense with 400 receptions, their TE's only caught about 60 balls all year.  I just don't think it's as important.  Still, I believe we've improved that room this offseason.  I would call them average.  Certainly not high end, but average.

I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised by how good Dan Arnold is.

We’ll be like the Browns when they passed on Mahomes and Watson.

I've been thinking it's more akin to the Jets who got a really good DB in that draft (Jamal Adams) but passed on two franchise QBs.

But what's done is done. Rhule and Fitterer chose Darnold & Horn over Fields. We can only hope it was the right decision.

That's one large man. Tbh if anyone busts I think its him. Just my 🪙🪙

I don't really consider anyone drafted agree round 4 to be a bust. Those guys had long odds to begin with.

I said it at the time of the signing. We just paid a bunch of money for no appreciable upgrade over Kyle Allen.

Despite his rather tasteful name, I'm not Teddy fan, but I don't see Kyle Allen staying healthy long enough to start 15 games. The guy seemed to get inured quite a bit.

I feel like a loss will be a really really bad sign for the rest of the season for the Panthers.

Week 1 is probably the worst week to draw conclusions from. Teams work on Week 1 all of training camp. I'd give it until at least week 4 or 5 before you start full on panicking.
