The best thing about this win:  If you want to know how to beat those "W-eating" QBs---just pressure him.  He was not really challenged vs. GB.  They won easily and he barely had to pass the ball. Even he thought he was "back".  So now, Peyton is not the QB genius he thought he was--he is only as good as his cheating and Drew Brees could carry him.  Like Billichick, Rivera, etc. some coaches are only as good as their QBs.  Take a coach like Joe Gibbs, however, who won titles without great QBs, and you have something.

I love the power of positive thinking:  saintlyn8:   Our punting looks good tho. Thats something.

Gibbs coached in a very different NFL. I think he'd find that particular approach difficult in today's game.

So, are we keeping Zane Gonzalez after yesterday's performance, or is he shown the door like Santos and Slye before him?

    FG's 2/3 (long of 42) and PAT's 2/3.

Will he get a pass because of the short week ahead of us or will Rhule make another move?

No choice. Since we signed Gonzalez off the Lions practice squad, he has to stay on the active roster for three weeks.

Yea no more John Fox...uh scheme? we just line up and try to beat the man in front of us kinda like lining up against a brick wall and being like "welp what can ya do?"

They did a replay of the scheme on one where we overloaded the right side and the LT was so confused he didn't block either chinn or burns

This was one of my favorite plays yesterday. Terron Armstead is a really good LT, but he's lining up with Chinn and Burns over him and trying to decide who to block and ends up blocking no one. Loved it.

I mean those are pretty reasonable takes. I'm far less optimistic about chances against the Saints...Jameis looked great and Payton is probably the best coach in the league. They are also talented and established.

I wouldn't be surprised if this turns into a blowout. Hoping for the best, but the Panthers can not play like they did last week with wasted opportunities if they expect to compete in this game

Said it elsewhere, but the Panthers team that played the 1st half against the Jets will beat the Saints. The Panthers team that played the 2nd half will not.

It was the first time I saw Asylum so I thought he was just another Panthers fan with a weird name.   lol

Anyway, as I stated before :

If we lose, I at least want to see IMPROVEMENT from Sam offensively in the redzone.

Though I think we have a good shot at winning anyway with how our "D" is playing, we need to score at least 20+ in order to have that shot.   Panthers offense has to get to work.

The Panthers team that played the 1st half Sunday will beat the Saints.

The Panthers team that played the 2nd half Sunday will not beat the Saints.

I remember when throwing to Steve Smith 12 times and his getting 8 catches was force feeding. Throwing to someone 19 times though? Nah, that ain't it.

Monday Nov 13, 2006 Steve Smith received 35% of the targets (8 receptions on 12 targets. Jake threw 34 passes.)

Waller received 34% last night (33.9% to be precise). So you're trying to tell me a 35% target share IS force feeding but a 34% target share isn't.

McCaffrey led the team in carries and receptions for a total of 30 compared to 10 receptions for Waller. You are grasping.

RBs and TEs are different positions. Of course an RB is going to have more total touches than a TE. That wasn't the question.

You seem to reject the idea that giving one receiver 33% of the targets is "force feeding that player". I simply disagree.

    1) Chuba missed a blitz pick-up during the game, and that the rookies can't afford to play like rookies

A good example is BAL last night, as decimated as they were, and with Bell and Freeman being there roughly a week, they still were not dressed.

Also from the Monday night game, Baltimore's rookie (Ty'Son Williams) missed a blitz pick-up that led to Lamar's fumble that gave LV the ball for their game winning drive.

Whats's your point? The Raiders had six receiving targets with 40 or more yards. It's a passing league and a league built around dynamic offenses not a one man crew.

You asked: Did either team force feed one offensive skill player?

I showed you one team threw 1/3 of their passes to one player. I would say that makes a strong case that they were force feeding that player.

Shouldn't of started our defense in fantasy....I won't be making that mistake again

Fantasy football scoring is dumb if our D didn't score pretty damn well.

Technically we already had a track record of that last year. If you look at CMC in limited action last season, we used him a LOT. It will be interesting to see if we basically roll with the Rivera era level of usage.

I definitely get he is our best offensive player and we pay him a ton of money.....but it is rare for ANY NFL RB to last with a high level of usage over time. We have to eventually do a better job of managing his wear and tear. Maybe he is an outlier and can sustain this but that isn't something I would personally bank on as a head coach.

This isn't college football where you have four years to use a player up and then on to the next. You have to try to protect your franchise players for the duration of their tenure with the team. They don't grow on trees.

Hes getting touches but its not like hes getting used as a battering ram 30 times a game like Derrick Henry. I think getting like 15 carries and 10 catches out of the backfield per game is pretty healthy workload. As someone said his catches are in the open field and hes not having 300lb falling on him

So can't remember the poster, but someone had put out the idea that RBs really fall off after 1800 touches in their career. CMC is at 1032 (including Week 1 2021). At 300 touches/year, he should have 2 -3 more good years.

RB career touches Includes Week 1 2021

    • Zeke - 1667
    • Melvin Gordon - 1544
    • Derrick Henry - 1280
    • CMC - 1032
    • Kamara - 1021
    • Cook - 943
    • Carson - 835
    • Aaron Jones - 789
    • Chubb - 769
    • Saquon - 657

Ill be a bit more specific... Brady doesnt have a RZ fade in the playbook. I dont think we have had a single throw thrown under Brady where it was a 1 on 1 jump ball istuation in the corner of the RZ.

Im speaking for the entirety of our RZ issues, not today's. TBH if that fumble doesnt occur today... we are probably speaking positiviely about our RZ offense today.  I just wish we would focus on big targets in the RZ and setup 1:1 situations.

Seems like both Dan Arnold and Terrace Marshall were acquired/drafted to run that type of play.

Also why was the end zone pass to Thomas not to Dan Arnold. Arnold is much better receiver than Thomas. Not saying he would have caught it, but if you made put money on one TE on our roster to make a circus catch, it's Dan Arnold.
