Look at Dallas now(aside from last game). Should have hired that guy maybe. Pep put in a good word I'm sure but nah.

You need a coach from the NFL fraternity Jerry Richardson understood that. You're not going to outthink or outmaneuver the NFL. Not for long.

I'm not so sure about that. They keep talking on the morning show (Max/Key/JWill, I think) about Dallas possibly dumping McCarthy to promote Kellen Moore.

Every good team, their OC's are down on the sidelines actually coaching.

Many of those OCs are head coaches : McVay, Kingsbury, Lefleur, Sean Payton.

But there are several good teams whose OC is in the booth. Buffalo and Dallas OCs call the game from the booth for example.

I think Brady is an issue too. Teddy isn't a long term franchise option, but with NO and with DEN he is scoring TDs pretty well. And DEN has a terrible OL too, and imo are weaker at skill positions than we are. Yet the % of TDs he throws dropped quite a bit here relative to NO and DEN. Teddy probably has this team with 2 losses and atop the division...

CMC alone is better than anyone on Denver, but he hasn't been available. Outside of CMC, its very debatable.

Jeudy is at best a push compared to DJ.

    Sutton is better Robby.

Patrick is much better than Marshall at this point.

Fant is much better than Tremble/Thomas.

Gordon / Williams is better than Chubba / Abdullah / Freeman.

  4. It's not just the cap to retain our FAs. You have to convince guys like Reddick and Gilmore to come back. Reddick started his press conference yesterday with "don't ask me about the offense".

We have to give those guys a reason to believe next year will be better or they will sign elsewhere for the same money we offer.

I think we just need to go ahead and pull the trigger on Watson. There just aren't any franchise level qbs coming out this year, and even if there were, our 4 or 5 wins will be enough to not be able to get the top prospect.

Trade 2 firsts and a player for Watson, spend the rest of the draft picks on oline and special teams depth players and be highly aggressive in free agency to aquire more olinmen and see what happens next year.

At least we know Watson is good, I don't trust our front office to evaluate qbs anymore. In fact, they should be fired for the teddy and darnold trades.

Better sign a strong backup if you trade for Watson. I don't see any way he avoids a six game suspension at some point in 2022.

Its obvious by the drafting and free agency moves that they thought they could be productive offensively based on scheme.  Whereas defense needed personnel.  Like you said it is probably a bit of a reality check for them coming from college.

Maybe they learn from it and become better coaches.

We thought we were importing the New Orleans offense with Joe Brady. An offensive system that has always given us fits. What even New Orleans is learning this year is that system doesn't look so unstoppable without their hall of fame level quarterback.

  7. Aside from the lack of preseason snaps, there were signs even in the first three weeks that were dismissed because we were winning. The Jets game was more competitive than it should have been with Sam coming a hairs breath from throwing two interceptions. The absolute WTF interception/pitch in the Saints game that set up their only score. A much closer than it should have been game with the Texans with two Sam Darnold fumbles that Paradis jumped on.

    We're still 4-5.

Don't kid yourself, there's a LONG way down from here.

At the end of the day, the only thing different than last week when we won, is our Offensive Line got further degraded mid-game, and Darnold looked terrible against a HOF head coach who has played against Sam Darnold 7 times in 4 years. Are we really surprised he knew how to exploit him?

I'm not saying we're good, and I'm not saying we've got a lot to look forward to this year. We're looking rough, and with yet ANOTHER offensive line starter out for the year, I don't feel like we're at any risk of improving.

What I am saying is with the talent we have available, I don't think an regime in the league could be doing better. And a regime change is a hard reboot. I'd much rather see the coaching staff that's put together one of the fiercest defenses in the league in less than 2 years have a chance to address the offense this off-season, than start all over again.

I'm not in favor in getting rid of the current regime. The premise of the thread was Rhule leaving of his own volition for the Penn State job. If that were to happen Pederson would be high on my list of candidates.
