I agree the mock isn't that useful. What is relevant to this discussion is that @ellishas been told that the Panthers like Cross. Now would they take Cross with Neal still on the board? I don't know.

POLL: What Will It Take For You To Be OK With Keeping Rhule?
trueblade replied to travisura's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is a good point. The schedule going to be really key, especially when the Tampa games are. Rhule needs a good December. -
I don't hate people for being bad at their job. I do wish they would either get better at their job or find another job that they can excel at.

Burns has to start converting on more of his near misses, too.

I was using the Fitzgerald-Spielberger NFL Draft Trade Value Chart. I'm sure different teams use different charts. You know this might explain the "don't send us negative points" comment from Tepper last year. If that team used a different chart, they might have thought they were giving us value and we saw it as "negative points".

Going by the draft chart 16 + 19 are worth more than 6. Pick 6 is 2092. Pick 16 (1595) + 19 (1508) = 3,103. The difference of 1,011 is between pick 50 (1,018) and 51 (1,007). We'd have to give them something equivalent to a mid 2nd rounder when we don't have a 2nd or 3rd round pick. A player or a future pick are the only options I see.

NFL offenses have been adding in RPOs for several years. You see them pretty much every game.
-
The trade you can justify. Picking up the fifth year option is a much harder case to make.

You are not wrong, but this will be our third year in a row with a top 10 draft pick so in the immortal words of Boba Fett, "Well if that isn't the Quacta calling the Stifling slimy..."

Post Mortem on the Watson Trade (from Albert Breer)
trueblade replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Whatever the exact timeline, it just seems odd that Breer didn't even feel the need to mention it. -
Post Mortem on the Watson Trade (from Albert Breer)
trueblade replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
This article states it was written from Watson's perspective. I wonder why Breer never mentioned they called the Panthers at the last minute looking for a similar deal? -
Observation: Panthers want to Draft a QB but...
trueblade replied to Doc Holiday's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd consider trading with them. I'm no completely sold on any of the QBs. Take the best OT on the board at 15 and grab a QB with the 2nd or 3rd round pick we get in the deal. -
Or protect a rookie QB. My theory lately is they are going to try to replicate Mac Jones success last year. Running game, defense, and have your QB do just enough while he adapts to the NFL.

Hurney wasn't a good GM, but the man was MONEY in the first round. He was the only GM to go Oregon to see Herbert. If he's onto Malik, that gets my attention.
-
He wasn't, he simply landed in the best situation. The Patriots running game and defense could have carried Lawrence, Fields, or Wilson to a first round playoff exit. Jones just happened to be the guy on the ride.

Maybe Rhule has convinced Fitt and Morgan to see what Darnold can do with an improved line. I don't anticipate that will end well, but it could give the rook a couple of weeks to learn while Darnold proves he is who we thought he was. We could still take a QB at 6 (or my preference, later in a trade down). QB room in 2022 is Darnold, PJ, and a rookie.

I think the Browns are content with Brissett as their backup at this point.
