  1. As long as it is nothing more than a glorified QB coach. We need at least 8 games of Matt Corral to get some sort of read on what to do with a (likely) top 10 pick in 2023.
  2. Not hard to imagine, given the various things they have said, that it was Rhule wanting to trade for Baker and Fitterer/McAdoo wanting to draft a QB. Perhaps Rhule thinks he can use this to his advantage if things don't go well. "Well, Mr. Tepper, I wanted to trade for Baker. I'm doing the best I can with the rookie Scott saddled me with."
  3. We've got to get at least a half season with Corral to inform what we do with (likely) a top 10 pick in 2023.
  4. All Brown would do is take snaps away from Ekwonu. 7 to 8 wins is an optimistic ceiling for this team. The main goal of the upcoming season needs to be about finding out what we have in Corral and getting Ickey as much experience as possible.
  5. Let’s not dig ourselves in a hole for next year. I was really happy to see them say that.
  6. It's a great way to get to 8-9 or 9-8. You can even get up to 10-7 on a good year. The problem is that it leaves you no room for error. One bad bounce or bad call, and your 17-13 win becomes a 21-17 loss. And, then, at some point in the playoffs, you're going to run into a team with a Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Herbert, Burrow, Allen, etc. Against a team like that, you're gonna have to put up points to beat them. Foxball won't get it done, just look at what happened to.... Tennessee when they got bounced in their first game (after a bye) to a team with *checks notes* a dynamic offense.
  7. I feel like NO toward the end of Brees career ran nothing but slants and 10-yard outs with no problems.
  8. Lattimore, CJ Gardner-Johnson and Mathieu. That's a nice secondary.
  9. Nice catch. Thank you. I added him to the Google Doc. Mills would go into the Projected 2022 NFL starters who got their first start between Week 2 and Week 5 of their rookie years. He did not post a winning record (2-9).
  10. Questions to examine: When should Matt Corral start? When will Matt Rhule start Matt Corral? How much can you learn about a QBs future performance from heir rookie year? Projected 2022 NFL starters who started Week 1 of their rookie year: Murray, Mariota, Darnold, Burrow, Dak, Matt Ryan, Trevor, Stafford, Derek Carr, Mac Jones, Winston, Z. Wilson, Russ, Tannehill, Wentz. Of this group, only Russ (11-5), Dak (13-3), Ryan (11-5), and Mac Jones (10-7) posted winning records their rookie year. Projected 2022 NFL starters who did not start a single game in their rookie years: Brady, Rodgers (I will remind readers of this post that these two quarterback were cited directly by Rhule as examples in the post-draft news conference) Projected 2022 NFL starters who got their first start between Week 2 and Week 5 of their rookie years: Allen, Watson, Herbert, Fields, Daniel Jones, Trubisky, Lance. Of this group, no quarterback posted more losses than wins. Watson (3-3), and Lance (1-1) came closest. Projected 2022 NFL starters who got their first start after Week 5: Tua, Lamar, Goff, Drew Lock, Hurts, Cousins, Mahomes. Of this group, only Goff (0-7) and Hurts (1-3) posted more losses than wins, though Cousins (1-0) and Mahomes (1-0) only played one game. Lamar (6-1), Tua (6-3), and Drew Lock (4-1) posted winning records. Projected 2022 NFL Starters who played more than 10 games in their rookie season: Trevor, Mac Jones, Murray, Dak, Matt Ryan, Derek Carr, Winston Tannehill, Wentz, Herbert, Darnold, Z. Wilson, Russ, Mariota, Daniel Jones, Trubisky, Allen, Burrow, Stafford, Fields. Raw Data: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HjmVJBN4emuitYC5cbMvsc7OKMvY46eAtTqZEbzWnF0/
  11. I think if you were to go through the projected starting quarterbacks for the upcoming 2022 season, you'd find many got their first start before week 8 of their rookie year. If I have time tonight, I will try to put together the data. I don't know about week one but Corral has to be starting by week 8.
  12. The Morgan/Schoen relationship might have played in as well. I don't know what the rules are but Morgan might have let Schoen less l know we had Ickey over Neal so Schoen would have known he was guaranteed of getting either Cross or Neal if he took Thib. I'd more say thank Houston than NYG.
  13. I can't think of any faster way to disappointment than trying to get the greatest outlier of all time to repeat.
  14. Drat, I was hoping we'd bring in Cole Kelly as a camp arm. I bet he signs with the Saints.
  15. The only two QBs on Washington [edit: before the pick were] Wentz and Heineke. Allen signed with Houston in the off-season. They must still remember him juking out JJ Watt.
  16. After watching the interview, I'm so impressed with him. I love his answers. I don't know what his future holds, but I'm a big Matt Corral fan today.
  17. Sometimes, before people get diagnosed, they "self-medicate" with alcohol or drugs. One of the positions Tepper added just after he bought the team was a Director of Player Wellness to help with mental illness issues. That position could really pay dividends.
  18. That's a Scott Fitterer draft pick. He loves high RAS guys.
  19. You can really see that when he came back out after getting hurt in the Sugar Bowl, it felt line every team mate (offense, defense, coaches) came over to him. It's also big to me that in the age of "I'ma skipping my meaningless bowl game" that Matt was like "fug that, I'm strapping it up and going to compete with my brothers."
  20. You know after Darnold struggles, we'll get a couple of PJ Walker games before we throw Corral in there, probably before he's ready.
  21. We got a LT, a developmental rookie QB and we still own our 2023 1st and 2nd round picks.
