  1. I'm hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised and we'll have a good season, but...
  2. I'm just worried we'll promote McAdoo and repeat the Kitchens, Dirk Koetter mistakes where you promote the OC to HC so you're young QB can work with someone they are familiar with.
  3. Corral needs game speed reps against a defense that spent all week preparing for him. The only way that happens if he's the starter. Maybe not week one, but it needs to happen That is the best way for him to learn the game and for us to learn about him. He'll have some painfully bad moments. What you're hoping for is to see enough good to know he's your guy going forward and you can put you draft picks and cap into other areas going forward.
  4. And thus the stalemate. I'm less worried about the money then the pick. CLE should be giving us the pick, but the other way around.
  5. Florio thinks paid leave (Commissioner Exempt List) is the more likely thing, despite Goodell saying he wasn't going to use it. I'll link the video below, but I'll give a quick summary as well. The Commissioner had full control over Exempt List process. He no longer has full over a suspension. That would activate the new personal conduct policy negotiated in the last CBA. This is now a three step process. Step one, under the policy, is the League/Commissioner would propose a suspension. Step two, it goes to the Disciplinary Officer. This is a retired Federal judge from DE that was agreed to by both the NFL and the NFLPA. Unless she finds there should be no discipline at all, the Commissioner can still implement whatever length he wants. The problem for the NFL is the Disciplinary Officer will have a hearing. As much as they might not want to, the NFLPA has a legislative duty to defend Watson as a member of the Union. The NFLPA could make the case that whatever action the league takes against Watson must be less then what it did to owners in similar situations since the Personal Conduct Policy states that owners are held to higher standard. They could draw comparisons to three owners. Dan Snyder - investigation into hostile workplace - The Disciplinary Officer could require that the NFL make the evidence against Dan Snyder available to the NFLPA. The NFL doesn't want that. Robert Craft - solicitation arrest in FL - probably the most apples to apples comparison for Watson (though we important differences). There was no discipline against Craft from the NFL in that case. Jerry Jones - voyeurism scandal in 2015- NFL allowed the Cowboys to investigate themselves and took no action. Here's the full video. This is messy and it's getting messier.
  6. Since this is coming from MKC, it's likely her information is coming from a Browns source. To me, this is just more of the game of chicken the two teams are playing. I find it hard to believe the Browns are truly comfortable with Brissett/Dobbs as their QBs. I say call their bluff.
  7. I mean his own team traded three first-round picks and a third-rounder for an unproven rookie to try to replace him...
  8. So we go into the 2023 draft with no 3rd and no 4th? It's like we learned nothing from last draft.
  9. Why would we have to give up a draft pick? To me, Cleveland should be ones giving up the pick for us to take even $1 of Mayfield's contract. We can roll with Sam with 5 games and put in Corral. Cleveland can either trade Mayfield or tell him to take the year off with pay. To me, Cleveland needs to make the deal more than we do. Swap QBs and Cleveland throws in a 5th and maybe I'm thinking about it. Otherwise, keep our picks and our cap and see what the kid from Ole Miss can do.
  10. It's not like Fitty or Rhule is going to come out and say. They will put on this fake "we're all aligned and on the same page" face to the fans and the media whether we get Baker or not.
  11. We're up to 26 cases now. I don't see how Watson avoids the Exempt List at this point.
  12. I understand fans thinking short term and only of the misery or joy of the upcoming season. You're gaining (at most) two additional wins by acquiring Mayfield. But I expect the from office to think long term. I expect the front office to understand they need to get a solid evaluation of Corral to inform the best decision in next year's draft. That means you've got to see Corral with game speed reps, and with the our team having spent the entire week preparing for him. Trading for Mayfield will not accomplish that.
  13. We already don't have a third round pick. Under that scenario we don't have a fourth either. I'd prefer we keep our picks but as I like to say, it ain't my decision.
  14. Just stating my preference. I hear people do that on message boards...
  15. Darnold will probably get floated as I trade candidate, but you'll probably also hear about a certain free agent named Cam Newton. Wouldn't that be something? Week 1. Cleveland at Carolina. Darnold versus Cam.
  16. I just don't want another college coach.
  17. Next coach needs to be a retread or a guy with years and years of NFL experience. I'd love to grab someone from the Shanahan tree especially if Mike McDaniel flourishes in Miami.
  18. There was plenty of the same kind of stuff even back on the [panther-net] list serve in the early aughts.
  19. From the same news conference, sounds like Snow was instrumental in the decision to bring Jackson back. We know from previous comments how much influence Snow has with Rhule.
  20. "The 23-year-old Corral will be under contract for the next four seasons, and that allows for an eye to the future. The only quarterbacks on the roster prior to this weekend were Sam Darnold and PJ Walker and both are in the final year of their current contracts." https://www.panthers.com/news/matt-corral-quarterback-nfl-draft-mississippi-third-round-panthers-pick#:~:text=The 23-year-old Corral, year of their current contracts.
  21. Regarding the Burns part, isn't 255 still a little light for a DE?
