We aren't getting Kyle Shanahan. He's what is making Purdy work.

High risk that Dorsey is just running what Daboll created and riding Allen's coattails. It's also somewhat concerning that Allen's passing yardage has been trending down the past three weeks.

I think people have to let go of this idea of Wilks staying on under a new coach. The players are so bought into Wilks, the only options are make him the HC or let him walk.
-
Ask me again after the season. Darnold looked good for about three weeks last year. Let's see if he can make it four weeks (or even five if we make the playoffs.)

It's likely going to be Dallas as the top wildcard facing the NFC-S "champion". Washington can catch Dallas for the top wildcard, but only if Washington runs the table (NYG, @SF, CLE, DAL), and Dallas (@JAX, PHI, @TEN, @WAS) doesn't win another game. But that seems highly unlikely. There's also an outside chance that Dallas could catch Philly for the division. Dallas would have to win all their remaining games, including having to beat Philly Week 16, plus get Philly to lose to either Chicago, New Orleans, or NYG. If Dallas did catch them, then the NFC-S "champion" would host Philly.

To really evaluate Wilks versus the field, you would need to know what kind of offensive system he wants to run. You can run power O from almost any system. If I recall, we ran Coryell during Cam's heyday (when Wilks was on the staff). Wilks did have a Coryell guy in McCoy in Arizona but there have been suggestions that wasn't his first choice. Knowing what kind of offense Wilks wants to run would go a long way to determine who he might want for OC as well as what kind of QB he wants.

On Ryans, I think we'd be better off sticking with Wilks who already has the trust of the players, rather than Ryans who seems quite similar to Wilks but would have to start at ground zero with the relationships. The one possible advantage to Ryans is I'm pretty sure he'd bring in a Shanahan disciple to run this offense, but then so could Wilks.

Possibly just continuing with what Daboll built and riding the coattails of an MVP level QB.

Are you In favor of bring back Laviska Shenault next season?

On Blackshear's TD run, 15 performed his orbit motion. Watch one of the Seattle LBs screaming into the flat to cover 15. That took the LB out of the box, and gave Carolina a numbers advantage that springs Blackshear for the TD. https://youtu.be/7_7ftKAXFYc -
Steve Wilks has proved he has what it takes to be HC

I love the idea of becoming an elite offense. It's not happening this season. The NFC playoff teams are likely to be Philly, Minnesota, San Francisco, Dallas, Washington, and New York plus either us or Tampa. There isn't a Bengals level offense in that group. Maybe Philly. Maybe Dallas, but that's probably a stretch. That's all I was pointing out. -
"ACL tears are bad enough, but when they occur in December, there is a strong likelihood that the recovery time lingers into the following season. Hopefully, this isn’t the case with Murray, whose work ethic, leadership skills, and maturity have been questioned and critiqued by many this season." https://raisingzona.com/2022/12/12/arizona-cardinals-worst-kyler-murray/amp/

Sounds a little like Debo from the 49ers. -

Lucky for us, I don't see a Bengals/Bills/Chiefs type of team in the NFC right now. Maybe Philly, but that's about it. -
Looks like it was 75% for the Bengals pretty much from the kickoff.
-
Well within the range of outcomes.
-
San Francisco or Philadelphia probably.
-
That's Michael Bidwill. Tepper isn't the only terrible owner in the league.
-
He was extended through 2027 in the off-season as was their GM.
-
If it's an ACL, I would find it highly unlikely he'd be ready for Week 1. That's usually a 10 to 12 month injury. Arizona will have some interesting decisions to make.

We talk every year about how preseason games can't match the speed and intensity of a regular season game. Likewise, regular season games can't match the speed and intensity of a playoff game. So many of our core guys have never experienced playoff football. Even if we go one and done, the experience our core guys will get will be invaluable moving forward. Does it mean a later draft pick? Yup. That just means Fitterer has to step up and find great players regardless of where we are picking. That's his job.

For Sam Darnold's 2023 contract (whether with us or elsewhere), it's probably a several million dollars question.

The Ravens are a great example of what I'm concerned about with our approach. Since drafting Lamar they've gone: lost WC round, lost divisional round, lost divisional round, and then missed the playoffs last year. At some point in the playoffs (especially in the AFC), you're going to come up against a team with an elite QB. You're going to have to have the ability to have a more dynamic passing attack. If you don't, you get bounced, just like the Ravens have year after year. I will caveat this with saying there just don't seem to be many elite QBs in the NFC. Even the normal names like Brady and Rodgers aren't playing up to that elite level right now and are in danger of missing the playoffs which is why San Francisco might be able to reach the NFC Championship game with Brock Purdy.

Like Penei Sewell did yesterday on a key third down for Detroit.

I hope we win, but

The Panthers OL is an absolute strength. In Week 12, the Panthers OL allowed 1 pressure, 0 sacks, and 0 QB hits.
