Stefanski turned Cleveland into a run first team. That helped Mayfield more than any "flipping the switch".

It's the same "we" that made the call on Darnold, just not Bridgewater.

Fields would greatly benefit by learning from Cam. All of these young guys would. But turning it around, there's not a better QB to mentor Trey Lance than Cam Newton.

This is from Albert Breer: "The drumbeat for Florida’s Kyle Pitts has grown louder here, and a good number of other clubs believe he’ll be the fourth pick. Three breadcrumbs we can leave for you here. One, GM Terry Fontenot has done some relationship-building with Matt Ryan that, really, seems to indicate the Falcons aren’t desperate to move on from him in nine months (the contract restructure sends a similar message), and Ryan has been a steady presence in the building the last few weeks. Two, word is the asking price to move up to No. 4 is high, which would indicate Atlanta might not be rushing to move the pick. And then there’s where Arthur Smith made his bones—coaching tight ends. For what it’s worth, the buzz around the NFL has been that Fontenot and Smith are comfortable going forward with Ryan, if that’s where Atlanta lands. But if the right quarterback falls here? Who knows?"

Let's not forget that for all his experience, this is Fitterer's first time calling the shots on draft day.

It sounded like 16 would be about their limit, and there's WFT sitting at 15...

Applicable to interest in Rashawn Slater: Around the 29 minute mark: Press: John Schneider (Seattle GM) was open about Seattle's preference for Cornerbacks with 32" arms. Is that a philosophy you'll bring here, and similarly, will you have a philosophy on arm length for offensive tackles? SF: As far as Corners, we change to what our coaches want, what they expect, we're not going to play with the exact type of corner we played with in Seattle, we look for different traits here. We adjust as a personnel staff to that. Obviously length is important, it does show up on tape, it's important for offensive linemen as well. It is a factor that we look at.

To be fair, it took the greatest comeback of all time to stop them from winning Super Bowl LI.

Kristen Balboni introduces Sam Darnold to southern foods.

Note: Beaufort, NC and Beaufort, SC are pronounced differently. -
Think about this nightmare scenario JAX - Lawrence NYJ - Wilson SF - Fields ATL - Pitts CIN - Sewell MIA - Slater DET - Lance I'd be looking to trade down. It's good Fitts has already made some calls.

That's certainly within the range of outcomes, but it's an outcome I think we'd end up regretting.

If he's there at 8, you've got to pull the trigger. I'd even consider moving up to 7 if the price wasn't terrible to make sure Denver didn't jump me.

Jimmy Johnson on Darnold and Rhule
trueblade replied to Little Goody Two Shoes's topic in Carolina Panthers
Jimmy invites most first time head coaches for a weekend with him. It's considered something of a right of passage in those circles. -
I saw an interview with Leatherwood today where he stated he sees himself as a LT. I wonder how open hell be too kicking inside. Nice job on the mock. What's the cost to jump from 8 to 7? I'm a believer in Fields. I'd hate to see him go off the board one pick before ours.

NFL Network replayed the 2020 Arizona versus Philly game this afternoon. I came away impressed with Dan Arnold (and Hassan Reddick). I don't think TE is nearly the issue it was last session after signing him.

Are You Really Against Fields or Lance if they fall to #8...
trueblade replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agree completely with these two posters. -
I think we're missing the bigger takeaway from this story. Kyle Shanahan is considered by many to be a pretty good offensive mind. I guess it's a good sign that he thinks Darnold can improve enough to offer his first round pick. This might also be why the Jets wanted a first round pick for Darnold initially.

Panthers Well Represented at Fields 2nd Pro Day
trueblade replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not just Patrick Mahomes. The last four NFL MVPs: Rodgers - sat three full seasons. L. Jackson - sat 9 weeks. Started due to injury to Flacco. Though to be fair he played in every game in certain packages. Mahomes - sat 16 weeks. Only played in Week 17 because KC was locked into the fourth seed and resting starters. Brady - sat 17 and half weeks. Started due to injury to Bledsoe. The rest, as they say, is history. Even if we pick Fields, it might be a great idea to let him sit for a while and learn while Darnold plays. -
1. Lawrence 2. Fields 3. Sewell 4. Slater 5. Wilson 6. Lance --------------------------------- Would consider trade back here if it got me a future number one and didn't drop me below 12. ---------------------------------- 7. Pitts 8. Surtain

Because we had a absolute superstar at QB. If you think Fields or Lance can develop into that, and they are there at 8, you don't even answer the phone. You turn in the card. If you have doubts about Fields or Lance, take Sewell or Slater or get as much as you can for the pick (assuming Sewell/Slater are gone).
