  1. We won't go winless. You can pretty much pencil in a win versus Arizona. We just seem to have their number.
  2. Atlanta is deploying Patterson as an RB most of the time. It's a little harder for a CB to erase a RB than a TE like Pitts.
  3. I think Matt Rhule just got his game plan for Atlanta.
  4. It's likely they do put a beatdown on us, but they did also lose to the Jaguars. We beat the Cardinals (the only game they lost of the three they played without Murray/Hopkins). It's been a weird year.
  5. I can't remember where I heard it, but the difference is college is about the Jimmys and Joes. Everybody in the NFL is pretty good so it becomes all about the Xs and the Os. Said another way, you can out recruit and out athlete your opponent in college. In the NFL, you have to have superior strategy, including in-game adjustments and adjusting to your opponent's adjustments. Edit : I expect this to be on full display when Alabama out athletes Cincinnati, especially in the trenches.
  6. Darnold had all off-season to learn the offense and develop timing with the wide receivers. Cam signed 17 days before the Miami game. Not really comparable situations.
  7. My comment about needing to see more consistency was more looking forward than back. I agree Minshew would have been a great option to pursue last offseason. With Darnold as the only QB under contract for 2022, I was saying was I'd like to see more consistency the rest of this year in Philly before we decided to pursue him in the upcoming offseason.
  8. There's been chatter on Auburn message boards / Auburn Twitter about wanting Brady for their open OC job.
  9. Depends on what you do next. Arizona moved on from Wilks after just one season to hire a college coach no less and that seems to have worked out for them.
  10. At times, his play looks like someone trying to not get hurt. I'm sure his upcoming free agency is a factor.
  11. 1. Even Darnold looked good against the Jets. 2. Minshew's problem has always been consistency. He'll look great a couple of games, then look terrible. You want to see it for more than one week. If anything, his performance today might cause Hurts's ankle to need a little more time to heal.
  12. I doubt they will be able to make wholesale changes over what these guys have been working on for months. Most likely, you'll see the same plays, but with a heavier run/pass balance. Run, Run, Pass, Punt. Edit to add: against a team like TB, who is great against the run, that's... not a great plan.
  13. So, assuming Rhule is retained, you have to convince a qualified outside candidate to come to a staff on a very hot seat...
  14. Not sure why so many would want a one year rental at OC because that's what you're getting with Pederson. Any kind of success and he'll be getting HC interviews. I think if you want Pederson, you give him the HC job.
  15. Said it in another thread, but I have a hard time seeing Rhule turning down ND and OU without some assurances from Tepper about 2022.
  16. Hard to imagine Rhule turning down LSU and ND without at least some assurances from Tepper about his future here. Probably means he's here for 2022.
  17. You're comparing guys who had a full off-season plus training camp to a guy who has been here about 8 days...
  18. Hindsight is only valuable in what it can teach you to make better decisions today. One thing we can learn is our scouts had too low of a grade on Slater. Our college scouting department has needed to be significantly improved for a while. I'm not going to be able to find the quote again, but I seen to recall reading that we had the same over promotion for loyalty throughout the scouting department under Hurney that got him the GM job. Usually, when you hire a new GM, there's massive turnover in the scouting department after the first draft. I don't recall reading about that happening in the Spring of 2021.
  19. But this year we've seen what Sean Payton's offense looks like without Drew Brees. Even with Sean still calling the plays. It hasn't been good.
  20. Unless Rhule gives up control, I fear we will see hyper short term moves like Bill O'Brian was making toward the end of his run.
  21. Exactly. When a WFT fan asked me what I thought of Ron, I told him, if you want to go 7-9 to 9-7 year after year, he's your man. WFT is right on track for that kind of year. When you're the fan of a bad team that doesn't sound terrible (and unfortunately Panthers fans find themselves there). After a few years of that, fans start wanting more.
  22. Head coach on a very hot seat. A bad year and you're going to be out of work. That's a hard sell for any assistant with other options.
