What is Tepper seeing that nobody else here sees?
trueblade replied to mc52beast's topic in Carolina Panthers
Way back in the day when I was on the Panther-net listserv, one of the organizers of the list wrote a letter to Richardson. (Edit: I think it was during 2001?) Not only did he get a reply, but Richardson had one of his son's give the guy a stadium tour, and explain how they were going to fix the issues. -
I think you may be confusing causation with correlation or mislabeling the causative element.

My observation has been that anyone I know in the medical field or medically adjacent field is still taking it quite seriously. Everyone else seems be more *meh*.

Field Yates just said on ESPN he expects both Marvin Lewis and Jim Caldwell to get looks during this coaching cycle.

Hasson Reddick… what are you going to offer him?

You mean do the rebuild right this time. Acquire draft assets and cap space this off-season, maybe win four games in 2022 and be ready with multiple picks and cap room in 23. -
More from Jacksonville: Kicking the kicker

Didn't Steve Spurrier refer to himself that way? -
I was curious. After Minnesota: "We’re going to have to do a better job of getting our guys to understand that we can’t have turnovers. What Sam needed today was a little help from his friends at times. I think when you’re a quarterback who is a little out of sorts, you’re out of whack, you need some guys to go out and make some plays for you." After the Giants game : "Sam's got to take care of the football. Sam's got to throw on time and if it's not there, find a check down. We can't be driving with a chance to take the lead and throw interceptions." After New England: "I don’t want to lay it all on one guy, but we can’t keep throwing the ball up in the air."

Might be time for Cam to start "moving some furniture"...

Are fans the only ones screaming for Rhule's head/firing?

Rebuilding in the NFL is fundamentally different from college. In college, you have to get in your recruiting classes. That takes about three years. In the NFL, improving your roster is about the draft and free agency to improve your roster. Free agents and 1st rounders should contribute immediately. Hopefully some of your other draftees contribute by year 2 or year 3 at the latest. Another major difference between college and the NFL is what do schematically. In college, you can simply out-athlete your opponents. That is almost never the case in the NFL, so you have to out scheme them. Take for an example the 2019 New England Patriots. That team had a broken offense, with an aging and less than stellar defense. After one down year (2020), they were aggressive with free agents and drafted well. Their schematics have always been strong. They are again at the top of the AFC and appeared poised for another run. It took one season of drafting and free agency. Not five years. -
Mike Florio & Rich Eisen discuss Rhule & Tepper

One of which is in a contract year... -
Right now, it's a tight race for the number one seed between Arizona, Green Bay and Tampa.

I'd like to see Cam with a full off-season to learn what will hopefully be a new offense under a new staff before I am comfortable saying Cam is done.

Rhule wanting/needing Harbaugh / Reich to run the joint preseason practices should have been a huge red flag.

Matt Rhule would resign before he would fire Phil Snow.

Panthers officially eliminated from the playoffs

Coaches tend to have gargantuan egos. No matter how bad the situation may look, they believe they can turn it around. -
Fangio said after the game he discussed it in the pregame with Campbell. Classy by Campbell to agree to it.
-
Not saying I want him for the Panthers, but Chadwell >>>> Rhule.

Your past doesn't define your future. If he's willing to go to a team and be an assistant or QB coach and learn some more, his next stint as an OC might be better.

There could be quite a few HC openings this year

“I've been here a long time,” Carroll said after a lengthy pause. “And if we didn't have Russell, I probably wouldn't be here a long time.” -
During his 2 seasons with the Panthers, Matt Rhule has 1 win over a team with a winning record. He had 0 in 2020, and 1 in 2021 (Arizona). 2020 wins - Chargers (7-9), Cardinals (8-8), Falcons (4-12), Lions (5-11), WFT (7-9) 2021 wins - Jets (3-9), Saints* (5-7), Texans (2-10), Falcons* (5-7), Cardinals (10-2) Overall 10-18 *2021 is still in progress. The Saints and Falcons are both 5-7 so its still possible either or both could finish with a winning record. I was going to make this its own thread, but it can probably just go in this one.

Listening to Gilmore after the Atlanta game and realizing he had to tell Snow to put him one on one on Pitts was the moment I realized the coaching staff was in over their head. And then the refusal to use Gilmore to erase McLaurin until it's was too late only cemented it.

For me, it's knowing that I can't change a thing that happens between those lines. I just watch and cheer when something good happens. We only get 17 games per year to watch. I just try to enjoy each one. I've experienced 15-1, 15-1 and everything in between. Hope for a win every week regardless of the opponent and try to enjoy the good moments, games and season.
