  1. Are you sure you meant to quote me? You're quoting my response to the question "You are seemingly willing to wait for the Panthers to build around Watson, so why not wait for us to draft a guy next year?" Your question doesn't seem relevant to my answer.
  2. It's simply a known versus unknown. With Watson you know exactly what you're getting. With a rook, you're buying a black box and hoping it's got the keys you a brand new car inside. It might have a stick if chewing gum. You know Watson is absolutely a top tier quarterback. You have no idea if the drafted guy will be a bust, be a JAG, be a replacement level (Jimmy G, Cousins) or be a top tier guy.
  3. Disagree. Check the posting history of @stbugsfor a listing of all the poor decisions the Panthers have made lately.
  4. Based upon earlier behavior, Tepper apparently has no issues with the gamble. Remember that according to reports, while Miami wanted all the cases settled before a trade, Tepper and the Panthers were okay moving ahead with the trade even if all the cases weren't settled. This was back in October, well before the criminal matter was resolved. Reportedly, Watson didn't waive the no-trade for us at that time.
  5. Stafford had a winning percentage of .452 with the Lions (74-90-1).
  6. The league is going to suspend Watson under the personal conduct policy. At least six games. The only way I could see them not suspending him is if they want to count last season as "time served".
  7. Philadelphia has plenty of assets. They can offer Houston multiple first round picks to use in this upcoming draft meaning Houston won't have to wait to start turning picks into players.
  8. Pre-Panthers I was a huge Derrick Thomas/Christian Okoye Chiefs fan, but it would just feel like bandwagoning to go back. As long as the Panthers don't move then 15-1 or 1-15, the Carolina Panthers will always be my team. (Though I readily admit the latter outcome is far more likely than the former.)
  9. I appreciate you saying this. It's not what people expect to hear. I had a similar experience of feeling out of place, and uncomfortable when my buddies insisted on going to a strip club the night before my wedding. I thought there was something wrong with me. I so appreciate you sharing your experience.
  10. A new (old) option? Certainly cheaper than what's currently being discussed:
  11. The guy I'd go after is Tyrod Taylor. He's an underrated guy, and while it's not exactly a high bar, he's better than PJ or Sam. The rooks who study under him seem to pop (Herbert, Mills) and he could probably be had for a modest contract.
  12. The only guys I want us bringing in are guys who are young or cheap. Wagner is neither. We need cap space and draft capital for 2023 and beyond.
  13. Regarding Jordan Love, I'd want to see if new Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett tries to trade for him. If he doesn't make an offer to have Love come backup Wilson, that's a huge red flag. Hackett knows Love better than anyone in the league.
  14. Said another way, even after the trade, they have more picks in the top 100 than we do. Ouch.
  15. 3x Super Bowl winner (1 as a HC, 2 as an assistant) .627 career winning percentage. 6-3 in the playoffs.
  16. I agree with what you are saying. In addition, I wonder how if the impending loss of Reddick's pressure will always impact our DBs
  17. This argument gets repeated on here often. Of course they know more than fans. The thing is it's irrelevant. Rhule and Fitty need to know more and be better than the guys they compete with like McVeigh and Arians and Snead and Licht.
  18. It's frustrating to see a team embracing the rebuild and doing it right while we try to cut corners and take shortcuts that get us nowhere.
  19. Reporting from the Combine was the best offer the Giants were getting for Saquon was a fourth. That created a bit of doubt on my part that we could get a 1 or 2 for CMC.
  20. I feel confident that the Patriots' running game, defense, and Belichick's coaching could have carried Wilson, Lawrence or Jones to being one-and-done in the playoffs.
  21. Using this same logic and metrics, you could look at playoff wins and overall winning percentage with Joe Thomas and the Browns and come to the conclusion that OT isn't an impact position. I don't think that's accurate. That would indicate to me playoff wins and even overall winning percentage of a team with an outstanding player at one position is an unreliable metric for making any conclusions about the "impact" of the position. Assigning wins and loses to any one person or even position seems fraught with issues. Even doing this with the most intuitive of impact positions, the QB, hasn't proven reliable. The Rams gave up a "winning" QB (Goff) for a "losing" QB (Stafford) with outstanding results.
  22. Rich Eisen was saying on his podcast that all this TV personality movement might have an impact on Sean's McVeigh's decision to stay in LA or retire to the booth.
