  1. Probably not great for the team that drafts him, but not terrible for the kid. Hasselbeck had a long career with some nice games sprinkled in.
  2. As I said last year, yes, you can win with this formula, but it's much harder and leaves little room for error. One or two bad calls by the refs and your 17-13 win becomes a 21-17 loss. At some point, you're gonna face a Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Herbert type of QB that you'll have to put up 24+ points to have a chance. Run, run, pass, punt, won't get you there.
  3. Horn looked great against two rookie [edit QBs] and an exhausted Saints team. The jury is still very much out on him.
  4. Charleston seems like much more of a college sports town, but I see some Panthers stuff from time to time (though less so lately). I'm sure if we start winning again, they'll be more support throughout both states. I don't generally go to a sports bar to watch the game, I just watch at home.
  5. Brady and Stafford were also not in the top 10 list Verge posted so the statement would be equally true as
  6. You kind of alluded to it but yeah, I'd be surprised if it's the Giants picking at five. I hate the thought of losing Ickey one pick before ours. Just like last year with Sewell.
  7. I didn't read the whole thread so apologies if this has already been said. I don't know which quarterback out of this class will be most successful. One thing I really like about Howell is he's been through a season that required the kind of mental toughness you absolutely must have to succeed at the next level. I'll be rooting for him whenever he goes* Edit : as long as it isn't Atlanta or New Orleans... Full disclosure : I'm not a big college football fan, but if I had to nail down a favorite team it would be Auburn/Clemson.
  8. I think people are underrating how big of a loss Payton is going to be.
  9. We don't have a second to give. I'd love to find a way to swing a deal. I just don't think Arizona is at the point to trade him.
  10. I'd be careful assuming we get comp picks. Virtually everyone assumed we would get one for Gilmore, but we signed enough other contracts to cancel him out. The same thing could happen the offseason we lose Mayfield.
  11. They don't want cut Baker because then Baker could go to Pittsburgh. In that scenario, he might beat out Trubisky. Cleveland would have to face him twice a year. It's one thing for Baker to recover and do well with a team in another conference. It's another thing if he's balling out for one of your biggest rivals. I don't think Cleveland would care if Darnold signed with Pittsburgh after they cut him.
  12. The pod is in the second tweet. Quote came at the 32:50 mark. This kind of implies to me that Rhule doesn't want to be here? Am I getting this right? He's just staying to fulfill the contract? Shoot, I'd help him pack.
  13. Dream - trade with Philly, get Minshew as part of a package of picks that includes a 1st and 2nd rounder. I haven't done a deep dive on what the whole package would have to be to give them #6. Then draft an OT and use the second rounder on whatever QB is there that we like. Nightmare - draft a WR or a CB at #6. [edit to add: trade away our 2023 1st round pick]
  14. @raleigh-pantherGreat find. I really enjoyed reading that. Thanks for sharing it here.
  15. That seems awfully low for Senior. People can live into their 80s. They spend [edit] half their life as Seniors?
  16. I'm still sort of hoping that Minshew is part of a draft day trade with Philly to let them come up for a DE and we can get an OT plus whatever rookie QB Fitterer likes with the picks we get from Philly to groom under The Mustache.
  17. Peter Schrager was talking about this on GMF, but at 6.
  18. The article is behind a paywall. Is it basically saying that Mayfield and Panthers are saying "well, she was a 2 at 10, but she's a 10 at 2!"?
  19. And I would say Chicago compounded the mistake by going with a defensive minded coach as the new hire.
