Trevor Lawrence proves going #1 doesn't mean much
trueblade replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Those percentages are completely made up unless you can show me some data to back them up. -
This. There's no sure fire way to know which one of these kids is going to ascend to the top tier of NFL quarterbacks. If there was, teams wouldn't miss so much.

So what are the fantasy implications of this?
trueblade replied to The NFL Shield At Midfield's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fantasy Life's breakdown: CMC is the obvious winner, but here is the other fallout to consider: Jeff Wilson Jr. Wilson immediately shifts from the lead back to a complementary piece when CMC needs a breather. Don't drop him—CMC isn't necessarily a picture of health—but his stock takes a massive hit. Tevin Coleman and Tyrion-Davis Price can be safely dropped. Chuba Hubbard, D'Onta Foreman Technically this is a stock up situation for both Hubbard and Foreman in that they both will be getting more touches, but it's hard to be excited about two middling talents in a timeshare on one of the most inept offenses in football. Both should be rostered in case one pulls ahead, though. -
I was high on Peters as well. But are these moves more him or Lynch?
-
This should be interesting. This is a picture of the former lead running back of the 49ers, Jeff Wilson, Jr. Can players change their number in season?

"involved' yes. Making the decision, I'm not as sure.
-
The model I see usually is owner hires GM and GM hires coach.
-
I agree, and maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it sounds like Tepper will be more than "involved", he will be on making the decision.
-
Doesn't sound like Tepper will approve Fitts/Morgan's decision, but that Tepper himself will be making the decision.
-
I got the impression some people would have preferred Fitts/Morgan to make the decision. It doesn't sound like that will be the case.

We pretty much have to take a RB on day 2 in the draft, right?
trueblade replied to t96's topic in Carolina Panthers
We're going to try. It's just that we're going to replace a star RB with [hopefully] a star QB. Just got to get the pick right. -
It think Foreman would be the better pickup for Fantasy, but I got to think there's a better option on your waivers than the lead back in the worst offense in the NFL.
-
I think your premise is largely correct. And yes, having a good QB helps tremendously. What Eckler demonstrates is that you can get production from a later round draft pick. I could have picked others, Eckler is just a favorite player of mine.
-
The data doesn't support you. The only game they shut him down for was game 16. In game 15, he had 21 rush attempts and 12 receptions on 13 targets. At the end of game 15, he was at 845 receiving yards. He would have needed 155 receiving yards in game 16. The most he had had all year in single game was 112. Even had the matched that in game 16, he still would have short. But regardless, 2022 Eckler is giving you 2022 CMC production from an undrafted player.
-
CMC never had back to back 1k 1k seasons. He did it one time. Awesome accomplishment, but he's highly unlikely to do so again. As I stated, most teams don't need a 1k 1k because they use a committee of backs. [Edit: When CMC did 1k 1k, he was the 3rd player in NFL history to do so.]
-
You are absolutely right. There's no single player we can get. But most teams in the league don't rely on one guy. They use a running back by committee. A solid RB can be found in the 3rd round or even later. The run game is somewhat a product of scheme and blocking. Quick "blind resume" for you. Which RB do you want? The guy in the right hand side column is 2022 CMC. The guy in the left hand side column is 2022 Austin Eckler, undrafted Free Agent.

If we don't trade them, it wouldn't shock me if they come up "injured" really soon.
-
The QB room at Bishop Sycamore is probably better than what we have. That's not saying much.
-
We basically are offering them a clean slate to remake the team to their exact vision. People in line for a head coache job have big egos, I bet they love that idea.
-
Lance? SF fans were thinking they would have to go back to Jimmy G even before Lance got hurt.
-
If Wilks thought he got a raw deal in Arizona, oh wee mayne.
-
There were rumors and various levels of speculation about the Rams, Eagles, Bills, and Chiefs. If this is the best deal on the table, all I can read into is that it means no one was offering a 1st. Every snap CMC takes risks an injury that scuttles the deal. Pressure was on to get it done before Sunday.
