you can throw the ball away from ANYWHERE tiger... you can't throw it short of the line of scrimmage if you are in the pocket. Outside of the pocket it just has to be in the vicinity of a receiver but can be short of the los. QB's do it all the time. He just has to throw deep and out of bounds.

You have to throw that away or take the sack where you stand. running backwards with two guys on you is a recipe for disaster.
