  1. Was on a Zoom call this morning and one of the guys said he found out he had it by chance as he was taking another CYA test for the virus and the doc told him he was positive. He said the only thing he has experienced is a loss of smell and taste to an extent. Can you imagine trying to run a construction crew and the Feds, Mayor, Gov, CDC and OSHA all singing from a different sheet of music?
  2. speaking of masks A GC I am working with in Houston says that OSHA is not happy with their masks because they are not designed for environments where people might sweat. So construction guys are being advised that their masks are bad when they get wet from sweat as the virus "sticks" to it? Really damned if you do and damned if you don't. They said that the bandana type things are the worst, do not use. At least that is what they are telling the construction crews. He had one team where 16 guys tested positive but only 3 had any symptoms at all.
  3. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ Seems like we have been averaging about 25k cases per day since late March. So why are the deaths continuing to trend down? Better medicine? Already emptied a lot of the nursing homes? Virus less deadly? Daily cases vs Daily deaths
  4. Understood. The problem is, at least for me, that we were told in the beginning to wear masks, then, that unless they were N95 masks, they were no good anyway, then don't wear masks unless you are contagious, then, everyone wear masks, even if just a bandana. It would be smart, at least for optics for Trump to hand out 50k "red" masks or whatever, at least to make people think they gave a crap, but I think his angle is not so much about safety, at least that is not what he touted 4 years ago, haha. OK will be just a big drama w/ Trump vs Antifa And keep in mind, Antifa has been masking for years.....
  5. For the purely political minded, you are in an election year and like any other politically minded person, you want to say, "hey, I have freedoms, or, hey you like Trump so your dangerous" I could care less as Trump or Biden or horrible, horrible alternatives for the country to choose from, embarrassing actually. But for those who are not constantly breathing their politics, this thing is constantly circling back to what we knew in Jan. If you are old and especially if you have underlying health conditions, stay safe. If you know someone like that, stay safe or stay away from them. Taking precautions are good. For those in charge, stop sending sick people to rest homes to get well, it is beyond moronic that you would send death sentences to those who are most vulnerable by purposefully putting Covid into their facilities where they cannot get away from it. Beyond moronic. Then, you wonder why people do not adhere to your constantly moving goalposts about how to act. No amount of shaming can substitute for competence. And the governments and CDC have acted the entire time as if they do not know what to do or how to act. It started as wear masks, then not wear masks, then back to wear masks. If the government has already killed your grandparents in the rest home, then I am not sure that people are gonna want to continue following them and their changing rules, especially those who are young. It is just human nature. Gov should know that.
  6. Glad I was able to let you get that off your chest
  7. Does COVID differentiate between BLM and Trump? Is one mass gathering better or worse as far as the virus?
  8. Your attention span is a bit short there LG. Basically talking about WHY people are not complying. Not Leroy Jenkins or whatever you are talking about. When the fear based story that people have been fed for several months does not hold water, then people will naturally make their own decisions. I say fear based because the facts are sooooo fluid.
  9. So, basically, we don't know. It might, it could be, etc, etc and if numbers don't support, then "it could be something deadly years from now". This is the reason people are not paying attention. Definitive information is hard to find and people are hard pressed to follow fear only without certain facts
  10. So again, if you get it and are destined to die, how long is the normal time for this to occur? I know it is probably hard to get numbers at this point as they are constantly changing, but I still am reading about the virus losing its punch. If twice as many people are getting it and the death numbers continue to go down.........
  11. At least you're consistent
  12. No deaths today in NC reported. Bottom line, if deaths do not start going up like positive cases, then the heck w shutting down. Not sure how long we wait for the lag to catch up, I thought it was about 2-3 weeks, but here we are. Who knows, could be 100 deaths tomorrow
  13. Incompetence is on the resume of most politicians. Schemes are generally over there head.
  14. For them, it all depends on the election. If there is a D in the White House, one side will all of a sudden become pragmatic, the other side will suddenly start pointing out the administrations grievous mistakes.
  15. All sports leagues should be required to rework their collective bargaining agreements now. Since we are down, go ahead and strike, get it over with, 2 birds, 1 stone. Again, joking for those have trouble spotting that sort of thing
  16. Sorta reminds you of Yogi Berra. "nobody eats there, its always too crowded"
  17. Just fighting fire w fire
  18. They have eliminated all the elderly up there, so it might not matter. Sarcasm of course
  19. You are a visionary for sure The medical numbers have told us since Jan to keep older folks and those with underlying health conditions safe. For all the hyperbole and sensational headlines, it pretty much stands true today. Like we were arguing 300 pages ago, if we could keep grandma away from the grandchildren, we could have operated like normal and probably not have shut the economy down. But, we shut the world down and did not keep grandma safe, we moved Covid patients into grandmas room. Dr Scholls indeed might have done a better job
  20. Football players are probably in no more danger than any other bug that hits them during the season all the time. Every year, we have reports of guys out with flu bugs that hits teams. No reason for them not to get together unless they live with their grandparents or something.
  21. So, by the numbers, it seems we are experiencing what the Italians were experiencing, which is that the virus is losing its punch. Lots of people getting it but the deaths are continuing to decrease. Hope that is a true trend.
  22. I mentioned to "rave reviews" about 250 pages ago, that when the government said they would be paying for all expenses related to Covid, that there would be issues. Most conspiracies don't have hidden cameras with people dressed up as nurses in what looks like a hospital with what looks like patients, so I might lean away from conspiracy. Maybe the lady does not like pasta, so we discount all she says.
  23. My entire family was sick in December, in fact, we did not have Christmas gathering until early Jan. My mother was in the hospital Christmas Eve and Christmas day. I was there with her cause the rest of the crew was fighting respiratory "bug"
