Hurney probaly kept us relevant for many years. He drafted stars and depth finds weren't bad. As other have said, after the 1st round it was like he didn't do any research.

He has not shown the ability to stretch the field. It makes us entirely one dimensional and easier to gameplan for if you are a defense. If he does not have the ability to change this he will be a backup the rest of his career.
