Von Miller: The Panthers were the better team
grateflday replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I did then and still blame the loss in the Superbowl on Ron Rivera. I told my cousin before the game the weakness on the team was Remmers on the right side of the line and we will know how the game is going to go based on that AND of course we all know the rest. The fact Rivera allowed that to happen, and worse, made no adjustments (how it appeared watching) to give Remmers help and not allow one player to totally destroy the team is why the Panthers lost that game. Everything else everyone talks about is easily overcome and probably doesn't matter if the coaching staff did a better job - starting with the main guy Rivera. -
Keep all 3 (Young, Dalton, Corral) for at least this year and maybe next year. If we've seen anything, it's the value of a good back up and even down to the third guy. To me that's a more desirable option than having to bring someone in during the season or the guy on your practice squad (who in a scenario might not be Corral). I know they are allowing 3 QB's on the roster game days for an emergency QB. Not sure if this is part of the new rule, dont think so, but I also think teams should be able to keep a third Qb on the roster without losing a roster space.

Who's Making The Trip To Addlanta Sept 10th
grateflday replied to OceanPanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
We will be there .. we bought tickets last month -
I think they NFL should allow teams to carry 3 QBs and not have the 3rd one count against the 53 man roster.

Interesting discussion but do not get rid of the kickoff. Figuring out ways to make it safer etc sure but do not get rid off it. The decisions made on a kickoff by the kicking and receiving teams has an impact. Ie your team goes down a score with a minute in the game. Do you want the possible opportunity and choice for your returner to take the kickoff return to the 30, 40 or even better to give your team better field positions? You also have the opportunity on defense if you just score and the other team decides to run it and you stop them at the 10, 15 yard line and they have a longer field. There are other scenarios. I don’t like the concept of a teams just starting every drive on the 25 after a score.

Upper level is fine, I always prefer first five rows myself. ALSO, FYI ... row 1 is actually row 2 upstairs due to the fact the first row is 1aa and second row is 1 and so on.

This is why I’d like to see an exemption to the 53 man roster rule and allow an extra spot for a third QB. With how critical the position is to the success of a team, seeing how far play drops already with most backups, and how often teams end up starting more than just two different people in a season …. Allow the third QB on a roster so teams can developed guys without risk of losing them via practice squad etc. or having to sacrifice QB depth for depth on roster elsewhere.

DJ Moore traded as part of trade to Bears!
grateflday replied to Doc Holiday's topic in Carolina Panthers
Love DJ and maybe someone can prove me wrong but my one big complaint is I can’t recall him once taking a five yard slant or other shorter/mid pass to the house and we still need that anyway. Maybe he could have developed that and yeah finally got some deep balls for TDs but if that’s what it takes to get the QB this new staff wants and he turns into a franchise QB …. It’s worth it to me. -
The Panthers should roll with Darnold, try to develop Corral and if there's a QB in the draft they like and can get draft him as well.

I don’t watch many Ravens games so not sure how good or “bad” a passer Lamar is overall. The times I have watched him play it appears he can throw etc. To me the bigger question is can Lamar be more a passing QB who has to scramble and run when he needs to. I do believe Cam could have become and was evolving into that but it was that hit by JJ Watt that ruined Cam’s shoulder and ruined all that. So, if the Panthers plan was to continue to strengthen the O-line and build an offense with Lamar as a passer rather than a runner & the contract was right, I’d be fine with Lamar as the Panther QB.

Beating the Saints cost us 1 draft slot after all
grateflday replied to Peon Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am fine either way when it's something I can't control. That being said, the only part that stinks is it's Atlanta who got the spot right in front of us due to the Panthers winning. I do not know much about this QB class and it appears it's not that deep, etc but we missed out on Hebert due to one draft spot and Atlanta might want a QB. Oh well, we will see how it plays out. -
"We should have traded Burns" - a rebuttal
grateflday replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep and more so on draft day. Not that the Panthers are actively look to trade Burns but if there is a QB they really like, including Burns as part of a trade package to move up is possible. The same for Brown as well. I do like how he improved this year and looked better but again could be part of a package to move up. This all of course is contingent there is a QB they really like and need to move up to get him. -
Wilks Set This Team Back
grateflday replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
Rhule was trash and the change to Wilkes accomplished several things. First it finally proved what we all knew & that was Rhule was trash. We also got to see some players Rhule left on the sideline & showed some of the young guys there is a desire to win here, how to win some or at least play like a NFL team and didn't destroy their desire to be here. ALSO, re: Burns he can still be traded at the draft as part of a package to move up. As far as Wilkes staying or going, I am fine either way BUT if for a coordinator we could easily be right back to needing a coach again in a few years because they don't work out often enough as well; so I lean more towards give Wilkes a full season and then go coordinator route after if it doesn't work out. The we need to talk tank during the middle of a season is laughable. People make it sound as if its so easy. Beside sitting all your starters or placing them all on IR and/or telling your players to screw up on purpose is not reality in the NFL. Now, this last game of the season or towards the end... I wont be hoping for a loss but yeah put Horn on IR, pay some of the younger guys and sit more starters via rotation during the game ... do it. -
Can Sam Darnold play himself into becoming the 2023 starter?
grateflday replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m all for Darnold being the bridge quarterback. -
This is why I’m leaning towards Wilkes being the head coach. Especially if the Panther win these last two games. We can always go the coordinator route if Wilkes doesn’t work out. Especially when there’s no guarantee with a coordinator and can result in more lost seasons anyway. So you roll with Wilkes instead.
-
I was definitely pissed off Sunday and off the Wilkes train because he got stomped by a better coach in Tomlin … but then Wilkes did stomp Pete Carroll in Seattle so I’m still torn with how to move forward and maybe these last three games will help. Maybe before going the unknown coordinator route because can always do that. So see what Wilkes can do with his own staff, team etc when in charge for a full year or two. Then go unknown coordinator route if Wilkes fails.

FYI - row 1 is actually row 2. Not sure if it’s this way in every section, but is for many. Row 1aa is the first row in the upper level and they have the rail. And I’m not talking about that row all by itself when walk out. I’m talking the first row in the sections. I know this because I’m in row 1aa Section 540 . And the rail isn’t really in the way, just the first seat in row where the bar goes up for the stairs. But if row 1 (which is actually row 2) your fine, rail shouldn’t be an issue at all. Here’s a picture if it helps.

The “Maybe Not So Obvious” Elephant in the Room
grateflday replied to WarHeel's topic in Carolina Panthers
The price disparity is kind of true for this season compared to yesterday. We have two psl’s and commonly buy one or two extras on game day so another family member can go. We only do this when can get cheap enough on Sunday morning. So all season it been between $25 to $40 for cheapest seats on Sunday, yesterday against the stealers it never fell below ~$140-$170 for cheapest. For that reason I see why the average panther fan didn’t buy much on secondary market. -
My guess is now there is no chance he plays at least 70% of the snaps which would then make the pick we gave up a 4th round one instead of a 5th. With Baker no longer on the roster, there is no way that happens

Try sitting upstairs where the sound is always a garbled mess where you can never understand what’s being said or played on the screens.

I blame this solely on Ron Rivera. He let Remmers get destroyed all game by Von Miller. There was no game plan to neutralize Miller (yes that is hard to do) and no adjustments to help Remmers. The coaching staff just left Remmers on an island all game.
-
For all the people who say the Panthers need to lose on purpose, explain to me how you do that? Besides maybe starting Mayfield and hoping he sh*ts the bed or practice squad QB and telling rest of players to tank on some plays .. what’s the plan? Especially more when playing a team just as bad as us or worse. How are you losing the game today against the Broncos on purpose? I

It was great to watch them beat the Eagles for sure, but while watching that game it reminded me why the Panthers never had back to back winning season under him. Rivera plays every game close to the vest and to conservative leaving very little margin to victory. The play calling on the last several Washington drives was typical Rivera ... run, run, run, punt and run, run, incomplete pass, punt. Then its get lucky or hope the defense keeps making play other wise Washington loses that game. So half the time it all works out and the other half it doesn't. I guess you can say this is somewhat similar to lots of teams, but I want a coach who is a little more aggressive.
