Brown and Burns would’ve been worth more in terms of draft value, but if the Bears wanted the same draft pick compensation for all then it was the right trade numbers wise. Everything I’ve seen from Fitterer’s draft day trades leads me to believe that he cares a lot about “winning” on the value chart, so that probably played a big role in the decision.

Oh it’s metaphorical ghosts, that’s disappointing. I was hoping it was real ones that could maybe play defense
-
49ers fans probably expected too much from him, he’s good but not great as a play caller. Unrealistic to think the defense wouldn’t miss a beat after having to replace Ryans. I’d be more concerned about their QB/kicker than the defense.

It’s probably in the top 15 places to play, all things considered. Maybe not if you like mental stimulation and ways to show off your wealth, but at least you don’t have to deal with sub-zero temps and feet of snow like some of the northern cities or the constant threat of being robbed, carjacked or harassed by drug addicts like so many bigger cities. Reasonably safe, decent climate, quieter lifestyle. Not too bad really.

In some alternate reality, there’s probably a 6-0 Panthers team where HC Thomas Brown is handing off playcalling duties to OC Reich going into the bye and will end up 6-11 on the season. It’s certainly possible.

I remember the Chiefs being the other team in on Thielen, they’re probably kicking themselves for not making a better offer given the current state of their WR room.

Real believable. Right up there with “It’s definitely something extraterrestrial. We hope that Miles returns to earth eventually, but he will not practice today.”

Alabama’s offense from last year looks very similar to the 2023 Panthers, just replace Gibbs with Thielen and you have the same issues. Subpar OL play and lack of speed/separation from the WR/TE group. Look back to 2021 and it’s easy to see why Bryce and the offense were much more successful. Fast, explosive guy to stretch the field in Jameson Williams, great route runner/possession type (Thielen) in Metchie, and a big physical RB in Brian Robinson. We could’ve had at least 2/3 of that covered by keeping DJ and maybe all of it by keeping Foreman or someone similar instead of Sanders, but oh well. Honestly, putting Shenault in at RB 10-15 times a game and running PA off of it a few times would probably help Bryce a lot. I don’t think the offense is that far gone, one good offseason could make a huge difference if you trust management to get it done. Big if as it stands though.

I sometimes wonder where we’d be without him, but the answer to that would still be 0-5

Bryce - A bye week plan of action for a man of action
Judo Thoreau replied to Judo Thoreau's topic in Carolina Panthers
His top priority is providing a wholesome, relaxing gameday experience. Winning and losing fall into the background and you just go with the flow. -
Folks, there’s been a lot of consternation around these parts lately about Bryce’s performance. With the overwhelming likelihood of the team heading into the bye week at 0-6, what needs to change? Firing the GM? Reich handing over play calling to Brown? Not likely to make much of a difference. In today’s world, going big and transforming oneself basically overnight can be the key to success. Why should Bryce be any different? Bryce Young Small and thin Concerned about eliminating his mistakes Feels the pressure of the whole team on his shoulders Working with the coaching staff to maximize his potential Plans to spend the offseason working out and mastering the playbook Pretty standard stuff for a rookie QB, right? Well not anymore! Introducing your new QB: Bruce Young Stocky, Dad bod Concerned about eliminating YOUR mistakes Feels no pressure, man. He’s seen it all Working with the coaching staff to maximize their potential Plans to spend the offseason with Ricky Williams and Bill Walton

That’s gotta be the most demeaning job in the entire organization

Fields and Moore will always be hot/cold types, it just happened that both have been hot for a couple weeks. If both are cold then the bears offense is worse than ours. I don’t find that to be any more exciting than the current Panthers situation, but to each their own.

Rookies (Young included) paint their team logos

Bryce’s logo looks like something that hides in the dark corner of your bedroom and stares at you while you sleep. -
Jets and Panthers joint practices

A wonderful opportunity to learn from one of the greatest football minds in the history of the game. Maybe the Panthers can get something out of it as well -
Round 3 - The Carolina Panthers Select DJ Johnson - EDGE - Oregon

First thing I thought of was the Bruce Irvin pick when Fitt was in Seattle. Everyone hated that one too, but it worked out ok. -
I saw a quote from one of the sportsbooks, they basically said bets started pouring in after the Reddit post and they kept adjusting the odds until they stopped coming in. That’s pretty much where we are now.

I think you underestimate the idiocy of today’s betting public

Who cares what all these media types are saying, I have much more faith in a random guy from Reddit with 2 posts. Went ahead and mortgaged everything I have and put it all on Levis at +2000. LFG

Reich has been blown away so many times during this process that I’d imagine he’s somewhere over the south pacific by now. poor guy.

I think his floor is closer to Taysom Hill. Even if you removed his throwing ability, he’d be in the NFL at a different position based on his college tape. Ceiling is probably a more explosive Cam. Expecting him to ever reach Young/Stroud levels of passing ability is a huge stretch, but you’d hypothetically take him at 1 if you think he can close that gap enough that his other talents can make him more effective in the long run.

Every time Young gets hit, it reminds me of that Sport Science guy getting thrown around by Suh. Maybe it’s not terrible for his body, but it looks like it.
