  1. @45catfan, Any safety that is worth a damn would've changed course and fielded that interception like a punt. Respectfully, who gives a damn what you want to see, the correct throw was to Thielen for an easy completion as the film clearly shows. As another poster said, a quicker WR would've easily blasted into the endzone like any decent safety would've picked off any throw attempt to Johnson. This isn't Madden or NCAA. You are just wrong here. No agreeing to disagree. You are wrong, it was a good quick and accurate read. Great play call, great rhythm, great play, great result.
  2. What is this nonsense? People are talking about how behind he is and he is giving them bust vibes. And you wonder why people call us the most miserable fanbase in the league. Kid was basically begging to get some preseason run last week. Quit trying to find a reason to be overtly negative! Preseason means very fooking little to a team's seasonal success! The kid has five years to flame out and assholes commenting because another team had a player look better because he played with a better backup QB know zero about football. I used to wonder why Mr. Scot was so revered on here and now I know it was because he was basically competent in his football knowledge and that was intimidating to a bunch of people who knew jackshite to nothing about the nuances of the game. 1. The kid got a few snaps the entire preseason. 2. Maybe a couple of those were with a competent QB. 3. It is okay if he is coming on, being brought along slowly. He is not going to be our #1 from gate. 4. He was a late bloomer at SC because they didn't have a decent QB until Rattler showed up. 5. Seriously, this negative, knee-jerk, preseason reaction crap is getting old and making the board unbearable!
  3. Steve is a horrible commentator, play by play guy. He is combative about nonsense at one time telling his co-commentator he looked like he ate his own boogers during a telecast. He struggles to make coherent points and his scouting prowess has always been as suspect as his support to every WR we drafted during his tenure. And Mingo is the biggest example of this to date. I hope no one is listening to him within the organization about anything except how to adjust to underthrown passes.
  4. This guy is very solid and played well in Seattle. He played above his head and they are hedging their bets on young guys instead of moving forward with him. We stepped in and cleaned up with the opportunity before anyone else. People who are negative about this are baffling to me.
  5. That's what it is going to take is stable rebuilding. We are devoid of talent due to mismanagement and terrible drafting. Our division is trash and we can build toward competency over the next few years starting with our defense like we did in 02. The QBs are even wearing the same number 9.
  6. He definitely felt that way! I for sure would've listened to the guy who used his brain and work ethic to become a top tier WR, has his own training facility, played with several HOF receivers, and someone you supposedly trusted to coach the players you drafted ! It always kills me because we would have had the offense to combat that all time defense in the championship. And our window wouldn't have slammed shut like it did!
  7. Do coaches count? If so we got to put Jack Del Rio and Rob Chudzinski!
  8. Never forget WR coach Ricky Proehl wanted Devante Adams and Stephon Diggs after scouting rounds. Gettlemagic though wanted a 90s NBA frontcourt. We would still be winning!
  9. A bunch of Indy fans that I knew laughed at us when we hired Frank. They were completely done with him even more so than any of us with Fox and Rivera. It was more along the line of Rhule. Frank's number one go to move was to get a dinosaur of a yesteryear QB and then try to make it work. It was a weaker version of Fox's vision. Fox just lucked into Delhomme. The talking heads were like Frank has to try with a younger QB. Bryce or CJ, Frank wasn't happy and then what a sad hodgepodge thrown together and labeled an All Star cast. What happens when you take a ton of different people with different staunchly so philosophies? No one can agree on anything. And that would have been toxic for CJ, Bryce, or Anthony R. So I get it, the kid is short and doesn't have the strongest arm. But the negativity is just out of control. I told you so doesn't make you feel better later, because I thought Reich was a stupid hire and he looked like he had zero energy from day one. That ended up being the case, but harping on it ain't gonna retroactively make Tepper give Wilks a shot. Everybody wanted the young coordinator so that "he can't be stolen away from a defensive head coach", but hate this one's enthusiasm. Last year they looked terrible in the joint practice. This year they looked much better. Huddle attitude is exactly the same though, overwhelmingly negative. I just wonder what everybody is going to say if they look halfway competent. Seriously, this is the guy that turned Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield from laughing stocks to NFL competitors. There are no t-shirts for being the guy who said we were gonna suck first.
  10. Because literally everybody has about a hundred people on their team and are evaluating 1-100 daily before having to make final cuts. I have seen so many players who played in other leagues last year in games, so everybody has scraped the barrel everywhere looking for options. Until teams start making cuts there is no one to go and get besides old vets who want to be overpaid. Embracing the suck and just having holes is something you have to do to get the option to get better when everything has been mismanaged like it was here in the post Cam era.
  11. 32 coming off of major surgery and this thread was still made. I thought that we as fans wanted to be through giving away our picks.
  12. Today's practice makes me a little more hopeful that this coach who got something out of perennial bums Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield may just have a plan for Bryce that can be successful.
  13. The Milton kid in New England looked super competent the other night. How do we not bring a guy like that to camp as opposed to Plummer? The Patriots drafted a rookie QB and still brought this kid in on the bottom of the roster.
  14. Yeah, I know it wouldn't have been flashy, but take Jalen Carter continuing to establish a great defense and wait until this year or next where there were a host of good QBs.
  15. I don't know where I am on this, because you have had short QBs be serviceable and HOF players. People forget how short Brees was during his playing days and the issues he had at times. When watching Peppers footage last weekend, certain plays Brees threw the ball directly into Julius' chest on multiple occasions. The interception in the rain straight to Luke, TD got him a couple of times where it looked like he was running a comeback route. In the end, I don't see how Payton made that work so well down there, but Bryce is making the exact mistakes because he mostly has to throw to spots. I don't see how they made such a big deal about Kyler Murray's size leading up to his draft, but it wasn't addressed hardly at all during last year's analysis.
  16. I remember people even talking about how much better the ball looked coming off of Bryce's hand in the lead up to the draft. Then seeing actual throws in preseason last year, I was like what were they looking at. Stroud thought he was coming here and few of us fans lobbied. There is a lot of people now saying to the contrary since Bryce had such a below average rookie year, but before the draft it was heavy Bryce. I am trying to be positive, because it could get real ugly for years with the decisions this franchise made since Tepper arrived.
  17. I am old school where the starters play at least a couple of series each preseason game except the fourth. As far as the optimism shtick, dude backs it up with preparedness and effort. I feel like this team is a far reach from being a contender, so saying now that his optimism is going to get old is throwing the towel in a tad early. They need to add a great deal more talent and the guy has proved he can coach some at previous spots
  18. Na, just broke down your post. Everything I said came directly from your post. Didn't call you personally weak, and your perspective was lame. Other than that we're good and you've made other decent posts. No worries.
  19. Guys get played out of position often and then there are political reasons after coaches or GMs get canned. Being part of the Urban Meyer debacle as well as all types of nonsense happening in the front office and with that ownership group, kid could've been doomed from jump street. Definitely a no frills contract here with prove it status and a shot is good for both sides. In previous years, I feel we would've signed this guy for years at a high number and counted on him from day one.
  20. On top of all that, he doesn't seem to do any pregame research on any of the games he calls. It is just missed pronounced name or wrong name altogether after every play. Throw in the multiple replays and the stuttering and its downright unbearable.
  21. Man, that happy wife nonsense is way outdated and any man who let's his wife run things is weak living a sad existence. I know you were just speculating, but come on dude. And alluding to there being antics and overshadowing just because Cam would be there meaning Cam doesn't know how to conduct himself at events just adds to your lame perspective. Grow up bud.
  22. I remember arguing against all of these assholes on the Charlotte Observer board back then because they thought we should take Ryan Sims instead. They blasted the site with the pictures of Pep inebriated at the Halloween/Franklin St. party they have every year flipping off the camera and saying he was a punk who was never going to be any good at the NFL level. To those Ryan Sims loving Pep haters, I say eat a dick, a whole bag of em!
  23. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over the same way expecting different results. So just because all of the previous GMs and coaches were fired instantaneously, Morgan and Canales shouldn't try to build for the future? That is about as asinine a thought as a fan would have. Is it not your hope that Tepper will let this GM build a team and not lose his mind during the long needed rebuild? We all hope this team can compete this year, but do you expect a deep playoff run? We still have Sanders and Chuba, so drafting a back who will be better than both of them and sitting him is fine. Lastly, not only is reading fundamental, so is comprehension. I was talking about the dichotomus devaluing of the running back position by the masses while also knowing they are still very valuable in building a potent offense. Nobody was comparing him to the RB gawd CMC! Still a little funny he is continuing to get paid handsomely when other RBs are being devalued, but that's neither here nor there. I'm just glad all of those injury issues he had here have seemingly cleared up almost completely.
  24. When you look at the talent levels, game day experience, and teammate support/recognition, what is left? It doesn't matter how many AA players are in the league, fans still want their players to behave and look a certain way. Cam is no more flashier than say Joe Burrow and to date there have been no concerns about Burrow's character, wardrobe, or leadership skills. It's the Richard Sherman debacle after the play against Crabtree to go to the championship. It's the fact that CMC basically sat and collected a check for the last two years here, but people act like he was a franchise cornerstone. It's how Cam was the MVP leading the number one scoring offense, but people say Luke and the defense were the only reason we were good that year. Sam Darnold shouldn't be talked about in the same stratosphere as Cam for any reason ever, but here we are doing it. Why do you think that is?
