  1. This also shows that they are really high on the young ins at WR and want to give them the opportunity to mature on the field instead of sideline mental reps.
  2. I'd take washed Andy Dalton over Devito. A PS flyer, that'd be ok.
  3. Lol yeah, he was wide open on the slant for a first down and he's out there running a route that the QB who has been in the system for two years didn't see coming. This is doing the mental gymnastics where the Panthers have to be wrong. He is old, he is dealing with injuries because he has been out of football and other WRs out played him this preseason. As of now, it looks like no one is signing him, so there goes the theory of us regretting it. Every year there is a guy that you all latch on to and he gets released. Before all of his health problems, he was slightly above average and maybe the people who were watching him everyday and evaluating didn't see what you saw. And that was nothing more than him getting open in one on ones and a couple other catches. And you are right he did do something else no one on the 53 did and that was run the wrong route causing confusion and causing an interception.
  4. I feel that, it seems like teams do not care to keep a guy around for that purpose if he cannot help anywhere else. It used to seem back in the day that at least the ST coach would advocate for a couple to stay on the roster for years.
  5. Why would anyone be interested in Tommy Devito?
  6. Simmons is a bum, can't set the edge in the run game and can't cover. He's an athlete, but it doesn't translate.
  7. Renfrow is dealing with injury issues, coming back from a devastating issue with his health, and directly caused an interception in the preseason. This affinity for certain players and dislike for others is what fandom is about, but you all definitely ride harder for some than others. Also, cut out the XL stray bullets. The kid was a rookie and didn't have problems with drops in college. Devante Adams had the same issues as a rookie and became dynamic. Give it a rest!
  8. Andrew Whitworth's last contract with the Rams was a three-year deal signed on March 18, 2020, worth $30 million with up to $37.5 million available, which made it the highest-paying contract for a non-quarterback over 35 in NFL history at the time. This deal kept the veteran left tackle with Los Angeles for his final seasons before his eventual retirement. Read it and weep. I swear sometimes you want the sky to fall so bad so you can say typical Panthers, we are the only ones to ever do this or that, you forget obvious examples illustrating the obtuse nature of your statements!
  9. A few content guys have constantly said we would trade AT and I thought no way because there were no suitors. Well, with the Vikings calling, how bad do they want him? If it is something worth our time 4th and up, bang bang.
  10. Moton has looked as consistent as a RT could look for years now. When you perform and you are a good locker room guy you get paid. That is it no more. He hasn't even started to show decline. He hasn't had issues missing games or shown drop off in mobility with the knee yet. You fellas are gonna need some therapy for that Hurney PTSD.
  11. Again, I am not talking about the coaching strategy for preseason. I am talking about the way media and fans portray or view preseason results. You quoted my post bruv and you have now twice misinterpreted what I meant. I get it, you are disappointed after last week's showing. But know this, Dave Canales and Dan Morgan are not concerned with your glimmer of hope. Also, I heard and viewed them looking really good in the joint practice. I am disappointed that it didn't translate to Saturday, but I will never truly freak out about this team until they look bad into week 3 or 4 of the regular season.
  12. I am not talking about the strategy as much as I am talking about how fans and media view preseason.
  13. That man is not broke. He just know he has to tighten up his spending.
  14. I don't put very much into preseason. It is largely for confirmation bias. If the team or players do somethings well it confirms your hope they will be good. If they do somethings terrible, it confirms that they still have a long way to go. The main thing I took away from the video was how are we going to evaluate anyone with such terrible QB play from Dalton and Plummer. I am thinking after starters get pulled meh, Dalton will make some noise. He is cooked and then Plummer comes in and looks like he has made zero progression. That to me is a reason for lack of effort on offense. There is frustration from the poor QB play. Plummer was scared to pull the trigger. Plus we still are building depth and have a lot of work to do in that regard. Our backups are mostly mediocre to garbage. It just looks like they are giving minimal effort because they aren't good. Then throw on top of all that, Canales and Evero are using the preseason to let their underlings call plays which is not exciting to fans or players. Lastly, I don't like how in the video he was wishy washy about joint practices vs. preseason games. The word out is that coaches value those practices much more and the word was that we looked at least competent in joint practice against the Texans. I have noticed that when we joint practice with a team leading up to a preseason game, the game product looks terrible for us.
  15. Exactly, even with injuries, I can't see too many more of those Jamar Chase 63 yard touchdowns and our DC keep his job.
  16. Well said, I have parroted the same thing to anyone that would listen since. Watching football that year, you had everyone from high school players, college players, league players, male fans, female fans, little kids, and the elderly mimicking Cam. Everyone was paying attention especially after the Thanksgiving game. They went directly after him and McNabbed him out of the league when it was clear he was becoming the face of it. Instead of leaning in and making the money, they let the league be faceless for a few years while taking unprecedented measures to close the window on our run. From allowing a Broncos' fan to head the officiating crew in the Championship game, to scheduling the same two teams to start the following season, to allowing the league MVP to be targeted in games, to never showing any of the 2015 season's games except the last one on their network, they Men in Black neuralyzed the world regarding the Panthers. All that they left was a narrative that Cam was playing one on one with Von Miller and was scared to jump on a fumble.
  17. Yeah, that is a growing consensus and I concur. Hasn't shown much more than thin gimmicks(i.e. run scheme), obvious blitzes, and setting up dbs for blown coverages. I feel he could get canned even if we are winning. Maybe I want that scenario.
  18. Seems you shut a lot of that down. There basically is no comeback for this post. Good job! The I don't want to write this kid off but I am going to write this kid off posts and takes have been insane about XL.
  19. You cannot be this obtuse. Regardless if they are standing or having their hand in the dirt, four players lined up across from the OL is a 4-3. We need three DL with their hands in the dirt if we are to stop the run. See the alignment below. It is two DTs and the OLBs for a 4 down front. This is a four man front and it makes zero sense. We ran it all last year. Again it is a junk defense that is destined to fail. They have drafted players for a 3-4, not a 4-3 and the alignment gives way to easy running lanes. Our defense will continue to look terrible until we make a change. I don't care if its scheme or Coordinator, but something must change.
  20. Cause of Gettlemagic! You know why!
  21. The thing that surprises me, also infuriates me is the small misses in editing these days. In this article it said Scourton was a third round pick. Yes, Cat Crave does go with sensationalist headlines and once you click its nonsense. Who would think we'd long for the Gaston Gazette days!
  22. I was ok with the mentor aspect of keeping Dalton, but wow has he fallen off the deep end. The slow behind the WR interception was awful. I keep hearing our WRs created no separation, but on that particular play dude was wide open and Dalton couldn't get it to him with a clean pocket. Next year, we need to address the backup QB spot haaaaaard!
  23. With them letting Clowney go, I thought we were going to be more aggressive in playing young guys. Scott has held on though and he looks completely lost. I fully expected to see Ransom or Richardson with the 1s on Friday and was completely thrown off when I seen Scott out there looking lost.
  24. I am not a huge fan of the 3-4, but if you are going to run it run the 3-4. This nonsense that Evero does where its two down lineman and what is supposed to be our OLBs standing up over OTs is a 4-3! If we do not have Bobby Brown at nose, DB and AShawn at tackles with our OLBs standing up, we will continued to get gashed on the ground like last year. His gimmick defense is going to get us killed again having 250 to 270lb LBs trying to anchor our run defense is on par with Phil Snow schemes.
