Playoff teams change every year. Three of the first four are considered potential challengers for a playoff spot. Only New England is considered really weak. We start with three out of four on the road. Honestly, if we finish the first 4 with a 2-2 record, I will be satisfied.
-
I will be glad when September gets here, so we can start talking about how they are doing instead of how they might do. That being said, I don't think think we will play that well at first, and we could end up 1-3 after the first four games, but we will hopefully get better as the season goes along.

Possible the Browns are looking to trade Shadeur?
Davidson Deac II replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Was looking at Cleveland's cap space. Next year they have a 135 million in cap space tied up in three players, Ward, Garret, and Watson. They would have been much better off sticking with Mayfield and trying to put a great team around him. -
BREAKING: Jaycee Horn in Minor Car Accident
Davidson Deac II replied to WUnderhill's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have been working a lot with automation of various things over the past few years. When and if automated driving occurs, things will get worse before they get better. There will be hidden flaws in the automation software, some people will have a lot of trouble adjusting to it and it will make things worse for them, and there will be the ever present security threats. A car or bus or truck getting hacked could be a huge deal. -

Trading a 5th pick who hasn't played a down yet? I dont see that happening. -
It's a preseason game, but...losing is not an option.

A lot of times, winning or losing a preseason game comes down to which 3rd of 4th string qb plays best. We were preseason juggernauts when Joe Webb was running the preseason 4th qtr show. -
I think Jones will be unwilling to deal him to a NFC rival, but stranger things have happened. Bills are in cap hell right night. Chargers seem to be in the best position of those four.
-
I agree. Fwiw, I doubt the Cowboys would be willing to deal him to any NFC team, unless one of them makes a ridiculous offer.
-
They could franchise tag him I think.
-
While I agree that we won't really know how good he is until we see him in action, I would hardly call his college numbers just ok. He was top five in the nation in receiving yards his final two years, number three in his last year. None of the other receivers drafted in the first round came close to matching his final year numbers from a statistical standpoint. He had 1300 plus yards receiving in his final season and did it in 12 games. The next two guys drafted in the first round had fewer total yards and played in more games.

I hope you are right. Fwiw, I sometimes think that when assessing WR's, fans and occasionally coaching staffs/scouts, get caught up to much in speed. Speed is great and certainly helps. But everyone involved in the passing game is fast. With a guy like Thielen, and hopefully Tet, they only need a couple of feet to be considered open.
-
Adam Thielen's one handed catch last year in OT against the Bucs was the best catch I have seen by a Panther in several years. To bad we wasted it.
-
I agree with those that say Steve Smith won't make it. No rings and probably pissed to many people off. Neither will Cam. His dominant period was to short. Luke might, but its not a given.
-
Any shot he had was ended when he tore his ACL.

JJ Weaver will be on of our starting lb's. https://www.panthers.com/news/panthers-switch-up-outside-linebackers-jj-weaver?fbclid=IwY2xjawLw5tBleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBicmlkETE1MG0wZEhBcGp0UnRCOE5JAR73M8EgNCoddtP6vs2NhmW9nVeh9SIvMUgtndhJ1rfZVUeTSR7cidEFaRYRdw_aem_HdlH0HnAuYptR0ivwI7mHQ Well, you never know.

I don't think coaches should publicly say bad things about players. Any criticism should be done in private.

For those thinking Renfrow isn't making the team...Ha!
Davidson Deac II replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree, and the first four should be Thielen, XL, Tet, and Coker. That leaves three with one odd man out. Horn's kick return abilities should give him a slight edge, but its to early to say for certain, given that he has never played an NFL down. -

My feeling is that it will be between him, Moore and Horn. Tet, Thielen, and Leggette are locks and I think Coker is to. -

Noah Fant? "Perfect fix?" More like imperfect fix.

I don't think its an over estimation of our own talent, just don't see that this guy will be much of an improvement. -

I don't really care about 1 vs 2. BUt I think that Sanders will eventually be our best pass catching tight end. Maybe as early as mid season. And Tremble will be in on more obvious run blocking plays. And we have the kid we drafted. I don't think Fant is good enough to change the order of things. I think he can find other teams where he has a better chance. And for us, Fant has a lot of NFL mileage on him. For a guy that was good, not great, I just don't see much of a point. -

He has been a starter most of his career. Why does anyone thing he would willing come here to be our 3rd TE? -
I saw it Saturday night. A little slow for the first 30-45 minutes, but then it really picked up. The Dog was the best part imo.
-
Only time will tell if he was worth the pick. The Titans had to pick a qb. Cam Ward was the best one available. There really isn't much to discuss beyond that.
