  1. My son played high school basketball. He was decent, but it was a very small high school, so it was easy to make the team, especially since he was 6ft 5 inches. I never pushed him into it, but I fully supported him once he made the decision. And for the most part, I enjoyed going to the games. Most of the Parents were cool, but there were a few who should not have been allowed to go to the games. And in fact, I saw a couple of them get banned from games. I will never understand people who get that obsessed over it.
  2. Yeah, some team will take a chance on him late first or early second round imo. They could have a bust, but it could pay off big time if he can make the transition.
  3. Well, the backup is out with injury, and the third string had a grand total of 6 snaps before last week and had never attempted a pass. That is why Griffis is playing. But I am more interested to see who starts next week.
  4. Btw, I have watched Jordan Travis play in several games this year, and I am not sure there is a better qb in College Football. Not sure if that will translate into NFL success, but as a college qb, I haven't seen anyone better this year.
  5. I was talking about this game. Not the season as a whole. For the season, you are correct. In fact, with Hartman, we likely beat VT and GT. The third stringer came in last week and after he got more comfortable, threw the ball down the field and hit the winning td pass (after a stupid mistake by the Pitt qb). So we might get better if he plays in later games. But for today's game, we could have Tom Brady, and I am not sure it would matter.
  6. I don't think Hartman would matter in this game. Although we might have 14 at least. But FSU is significantly better this year, and our oline is significantly worse. A lot of Wake fans want to start the third stringer who helped beat Pitt last week. But while he might be better, don't think it would matter. Its akin to Clemson fans wanted to dump last years qb and trying to blame all their issues on him, only to be just as bad or worse this year with a different guy. While their new qb is playing fairly well in Oregon. Changing qb's wouldn't help this week.
  7. Not all young single athletes like that type of thing. The ones that do like the wilder life probably get noticed more, but there are likely just as many that prefer other things like hunting, fishing, hiking, or hanging out in quiet places.
  8. If Purdy is going to make the move from average to upper tier, he will have to improve in crunch time. Fortunately for him, he is still learning and has some time, but it is a difficult move to make.
  9. Didn't the Dolphins do that at least once? Didn't work. Hurts is a strong guy, that makes it difficult to stop. We probably could have done something similar with Cam.
  10. Mike McDaniel seems more like an IT manager than a NFL coach
  11. I thought they brought in Sanders to be an all purpose back, a lesser version of CMC. Unfortunately, so far at least, he hasn't served much of a purpose. Hopefully that will change as the season progresses, but I am not hopeful at this point.
  12. It means the OP has been reading to many sports blogs/forums.
  13. That Lions team also beat the Niners. So its likely that today is just not the Lions day.
  14. But if all the big schools have money, then history matters a lot. Lets say a player wants to get paid. And they want to play for National championships. UNC offers them a 105,000 dollars, and Alabama offers a 100,000. The vast majority of five star players will pick Alabama. I looked up a list of schools that have the most NIL payouts. Baylor pays out more NIL money than any ACC school outside of Clemson. Yet, they don't get the recruits that FSU gets. If it was just about money, I would think that Baylor
  15. His shell still has UNC playing well. How often has UNC been ranked in the top 10, deserved or not? It has happened, but it is rare. I don't think its just money. Reputation is a big part of it. If a recruit is deciding between Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, and UNC, and he wants to play for a national championship, where is he going to go? Teams like Alabama and Georgia, or a UNC team that that doesn't have the history. While its slightly possible to build a team into a major football program, the deck is stacked against a school that doesn't have the history, even if they spend the money.
  16. I agree, Mac Brown has given Carolina its best stretches of football in my lifetime. Personally, I hope they fire him.
  17. I don't remember if Peyton was, but he did have a lot of hype around him, so you are probably right. Andrew Luck is not of the list of greatest NFL qb's, even before the injuries started to pile up.
  18. Every time I hear the phrases "can't miss" or "generational talent", I take it with a grain of salt. If you look at the best NFL quarterbacks, very few of them were called those things in college. In fact, I can't think of any who were.
  19. I agree. All you want are receivers who can get open and catch passes, and a qb who can get it them. The numbers thing is mostly for fans and sportscasters.
  20. He won't come here. Cowboys, Forty Niners, Bills, etc... are where he would end up. No reason to come to a 0-6 team.
  21. Regarding Amtrak delays, what form of transportation these days doesn't face delays? The last time I flew, I ended spending 12 hours in the Dallas Airport, waiting thru a long delay. I drove from NY to NC in August and got delayed four hours because of crashes on 95. Delays are just part of travel these days and I doubt Amtrak is any worse than the others. I have learned to either be prepared for potential delays or stay at home
  22. I generally don't watch horror movies. I do remember watching silence of the lambs and stopping the movie for a little bit to ensure my doors were locked.
