  1. It wasn't exactly the same offensive line, with BC out. But I agree with some others who said that the oline we had wasn't good at the offense we were running. The oline was at its best when it was pushing ahead, with a power rushing attack. They just weren't good at zone blocking. As far as the receivers, outside of Thielen (who had a great year) and Chark, (and hurst if you are including te's) they haven't been anywhere but here.
  2. You certainly have a valid point. The future doesn't look bright for Young at this point. But I will point out that for us, Baker Mayfield (imo) looked worse than Bryce did, but with the proper coaching and team around him, he looked at least adequate at QB this year. We can at least hope for the same in Bryce for the next year. Probably won't work, but I am not sure we have any choice.
  3. I find any other solution/option baffling. The odds of getting a successful qb in the later rounds of the draft are maybe 1 in 25. For every Brock Purdy, there are 20-25 Ian Book's. I am not saying we shouldn't try if the staff sees one they like, but if that is the backup plan, then I hope Dan Morgan has his lucky socks on when he drafts. And we aren't going to get a high value free agent to come to this year's worst team. And any other free agent we get is going to be another Andy Dalton. If you want an Andy Dalton on the bench as your backup plan, I am ok with that, but unless we put a superb team around him, the odds of making the playoffs with him are slim and none. And we aren't going to be able to put a superb team around him.
  4. We don't need insurance and in truth, we can't really get "insurance". We made the mistake of going for someone else when we cut Cam and signed Bridgewater. Should have stuck with Cam and if he continued to struggle, then draft someone. We need to stick with Bryce, and use our few draft picks to help build up the talent level. If Bryce doesn't improve next year, then we draft someone in 2025. This path has a far better chance of getting the Panthers moving forward than any other thing we might do.
  5. We are dominant at home, we have played poorly in the second half of the last three road games. Losing at UNC is not surprising, losing at NCSU and FSU both was. That being said, UNC looks really good this year.
  6. Fwiw, I have no strong opinion on the hire. But most head coaching hires end up unsuccessful, regardless of the franchise or owner doing the hiring. So the odds are not in his favor. But who knows, maybe we struck coaching gold.
  7. No reason to have a smokescreen when you have the number one pick.
  8. He threw one wounded duck after another. For 7-8 years, Cam was one of the best in the league. No doubt of that. But his arm was done. Not sure if it was the wear and tear, or the hit against (I think it was San Diego), but that is why no team has signed him. NFL teams want to win, they don't care about big personality. If they thought he could win, they would make him an offer.
  9. Chargers probably have the best situation qb wise, so if Harbaugh has his choice of places to go, the Chargers are the best spot. They do have some cap and contract issues from what I read, but having the right qb in place allows him to focus on other things.
  10. Most coaches lose with bad quarterbacks, so I don't really care how much he has or hasn't won without Brady. Fwiw, I would be shocked if he came here. I think he wants to win now and have a shot at a SB without Brady, and we aren't built for that.
  11. Florio disliking Morgan makes me like Morgan more. Ok, not really, but Florio is rarely right about anything.
  12. Unless his arm suddenly went back to what it was in 2015, wouldn't matter.
  13. May be reading to much into this. Maybe Morgan would just prefer to work with someone else.
  14. I will miss being able to call him Sulieman the Magnificent.
  15. IMO, the only really bad signing last year was Sanders. And I am not sure they will cut him. The bigger issue last year was injuries and bad draft picks not performing. Well, that and trading away our best players on offense without having effective replacements.
  16. I am curious as to why the guy brought in to manage cap space would be involved in a coaching search.
  17. We don't have much dead money on the books.
  18. One sad by product of Social media is that we get to see how bad some people really are. Give people the shield of anonymity that the internet provides and they say things that they wouldn't otherwise.
  19. I agree. Press conferences are performances and mostly meaningless. They give us no clue as to what kind of general manager he will be.
  20. We aren't going to draft a qb, unless its someone in the later rounds as a shot in the dark.
  21. Agreed. On the second down pass, there was a wide open receiver underneath to the left of allen. Play would have picked up 4-5 yards at least and run time off. Instead Allen took a low percentage throw to the end zone. Even if he made it, mahomes has a good shot at a td when KC gets it back.
  22. Regarding the game, while the kicker screwed up, I believe that there was an 80-90 percent chance that even if the kick was made, KC would take the ball down the field and get it in position for a winning fg.
  23. Well, personally, I would pick Nick Foles. I mean he actually did it.
